  1. Is it possible to use the 2 units together? We only require the auto iris control, not any auto focus and zoom which i believe the lens is also capable of

Hi just to get it to work as a standard camera is just not worth it.

How about just some form of manual control box to control the zoom/focus/iris? would that be at all feasible?

yes it is feasible but your just adding more cost. cameras now only need 1 coax and 1 pair for control.

your camera you will need to run 6 pair and coax at least if you want to build your own control unit. all that cost for a black white camera.

you can buy a CNB 30x zoom box camera for less

  2. We were planning to go with arecont vision cameras. and all the requried camera specs could be met using arecont vision.

Now the client has come up with the requriement of 2 way audio also to be integrated into the camera system.

in the places that you do need audio then you are best using cameras that have 2 way. sanyo/axis

I would keep the audio and video systems separate, there are systems designed specifically for education campuses that work great. Will also give you the chance to break out the costs so the project doesn't get stalled by one or the other.

I disagree 1 system is easier to manage/support and use.

i would also keep everything together. i.e images and sound. having separate system for audio is usless without images.

  3. My boss has recently found an old cctv camera / lens combo and has tasked me with finding out whether it is salvageable. They came attached together so i assume someone has had them working at some point. My job is to find out if they are compatible

i know the camera as hitachi leeds. what business is your boss in Antiques ??? the camera was last used 1987.

just the cost in time alone you could buy something better and colour.

i hate to think what your boss is going to bring out when he says he still has the recorder

  4. but i try that number 3.

hi your DVR is a TVT you only have two options. removing the hard drive may give you more problems.

you only have two options with the TVT.

1-USB port on the DVR - plug in a FAT/32 formatted USB jump drive, go into the DVR's backup feature and select that USB drive to back up to.

2-Network - use the DVR's network software to search, playback, and download the files

  5. Here is the Bosch Link: EX85

I checked exacq but they dont have it listed.

Doesnt seem Bosch have anything but basic setup software.

    Any ideas?

Clients want this kind of Camera.

Cant be separate IR in this case.

may have some luck with Arecont Vision AV3135 software. as they us to use that camera in 2007 ex85. not shure which camera they use now.

the bosh camera will work with Exacq using AV3135.

  6. Didnt work. Didnt even load the software. May need more than just a firmware update. What is really appalling is the fact that adata is not answering to the vendor emails, no to my emails neither. So it must be returned, really as dead on arrival. Thanks for your help, Tom

hi. have you tried to start your dvr without the Hard drive connected. the zeus is a dahua DVR. (a later model) did you buy your unit direct from them.

  7. Can you help to decide what firmware version is the right one?

I do take a look to the label in the back of the DVR and it says:

    Model: ZEUS-8

    P/N: 1.1.03.51.0195

    S/N: ZEUS806051100147

The box (package) displays: SATA HDD but not sure what firmware version

Thanks, Tom for your help, looking forward to hearing from you

hi. this one should work Zeus MK1 SATA Firmware v2.606 second one down in the zeus window on the left of the files i sent you.

  8. The problem is that as the DVR keeps trying to reboot its not possible to Network the DVR on a local area network to update any firmware

hi. what you need to do is remove your DVR hard drive. download the software onto a memory pen insert it into the usb on your dvr and then switch it on. and it will go into update. it will tell you when done.

  9. I did buy recently ZEUS-8-2TB-N Yesterday I did connect it was working. I left it working during the night jut to realize this morning that the red power button in the front pannel is always on and it keeps trying to reboot randomly but without being able to boot properly. All that comes sometimes is just the qvis labs screen for half a second, then everything in the screen turns black and it will try to boot again after a couple of minutes or so . There is something I could do?

The vendor suggest that a hardware reset could fix it but it seems he cant fin the instructions to do not even anyone from the manufacturer as I did contact adata

i have the Hardware. is your unit from UK or USA ?

Tom, could you, please, let me know how to proceed?

hi. just PM you what you need. look at s/number on your machine (on back) and download software to mem pen. go to step 3 on these instructions (top of page)

  11. it's difficult to find anyone other than Western Digital making PATA hard drives.

I plan to try and use an IDE to Sata converter.

A lot of my customers have these DS2A's and want them rebuilt.

Hi tetek. many people have tried. they just dont see sata drives. if your cusomers are just looking for more storage just add extra PATA (but dont remove the master) if you have just been changing hard drives then you will get errors. the DS operating files are on the firsts partition of the master drive. so that needs to stay in.

  12. Quick question - I am installing Vivotek 7361 IP Cameras - wired back to a central network switch.

Most of the cabling is outside - so my option is to run Cat 5e with RJ45 ends - which is a bit of a pain - but I need the POE to power the camera (no power at the camera location).

It seems there is a better way - and perhaps even something easier - but I'm not clear on what that would be....

    Suggestions?

a Vivotek POE Injector would be the best way for you if you are just using 1 camera.

    thumb_mspoeijaf-1.jpg

Thanks for the reply - the switch can deliver the POE - does the injector then use cat 5 cable? Or what cabling needs to be run with it?

hi. yes you only need cat5 with rj45 at each end... how long will the cat5 run be ??

  14. My ideal set up would be:

1 or 2 durable, external cameras (deterrent being the main objective)

1 or 2 internal cameras with good quality picture (identifying the a-holes if they did get in)

hi. for just a little less than your budget take alook at the aver EH1004 nano.

use two 1.3mp cameras for inside and two huviron P700IRD/M845AI cameras for external. the reason why i say the huviron is it has alarm outputs on the camera which you could use metal alarm strips placed over your lead.

you can also record off site with the nano server software

  15. thanks for trying to clarify the camera in question, i had a feeling that Soundy hadn't read my post correctly....mistakes happen..

the camera did have the pamphlet that was specific to the VFL20S...

Hi. if your VFL20S came with a light blue leaflet and a red and yellow power card. then it is old stock. at least 2 years old. both the VFL20S and the VFL21S were then releast as BNC and UTP so then came with a 15 page manual covering both and the rest in the range were you have the option to buy just BNC or BNC / UTP

its just down to how old the stock is.

  16. Hi Techies,

Please I need help in designing a CCTV systems that need to connect 2 different locations together in an urban area; the 2 locations will need 4 cameras each and the cameras from each site must be viewable from both ends.

In my design so far, I recommend 120 feet mast at one end to create a point-to-point wireless connection to link these two sites together and 2 4ch network enabled DVRs (Avermedia) since both are residential though one is used for office and other home.

    Please what do you suggest?

hi. do you have internet at both sites ?? if you are going to use the avermedia then you would be better using 2 8 way dvrs. that way you would not need another pc at each site to view all images.

with the aver eh1008 nano you can have 4 cameras and 4 cameras from another site on the same system. so both sites will be recording all 8 cameras.

  17. what state are you in.

a number of states have now introduced regulations which prohibit the use of a security camera in a "private place" - which means a place where someone may reasonably expect to be safe from any unauthorized surveillance, even if these may be in "public areas": in particular, hidden cameras in locker rooms or restrooms.

Keep in mind though that even in those states where there is some minimal regulation regarding the use of security cameras in public places, any breach of these laws usually amounts to a misdemeanor, with a fine.
