yes i think you are right. but thats only because you dont answer questions.
have you ever used beams for alarm detection ?
do you agree no name equipment can cost more money to put right without warranty
We have had numerous customer with large budgets call us for proposals on cctv, and end up never installing a camera, but this is just out of curiosity. why do they never install ???
-
Yeah -----> and going back to the drawing board to what was originally considered, beams --- gives away that the actual performance requirements need to be properly defined first. The problem is that although something appears obvious at first glance, often times what is so glaringly obvious turns out not to be the best solutionto have alarm notification outside can be very unreliable at the best of times. to the point that it is switched off. optex beams is a good reliable option. unlike redwall pir (owned by optex) which some companies use are good for indoor open space or for switching lights on. and beams are cheaper than redwall in price.
We have had numerous customer with large budgets call us for proposals on cctv, and end up never installing a camerawhy is this. did you not have the right equipment or did you talk your customer out of having cctv.
I have usually found that people who try to offer solutions before defining the performance requirements, are usually brand marketers.how can recommending good quality warranted equipment be classed as brand marketering.
let just put a small system together by everything from corner store 4 cameras 1 dvr power monitor ...... 2 cameras go down after a month. who is going to pay the cost to put it right ???
-
Lets just narrow one aspect of Standardization to interconnectivity. If every camera would work with every dvr/nvr with basic ability. Im talking just a basic view and record capability. The different companies could use Features to make them stand apart.the problem then will be ip would become a plug and play box system. ok in a way it is but that should just be for home use. just like the new dahua plug and play hybrid no switch or hub and poe from nvr/dvr

You don't even know yet for certain that this guys problem even must have CCTV - so what's the point of discussing cameras and technology!i think comming onto forum with a $5k budget for an 8 camera system gives it away.
the biggest indicator of caution, is when they start popping brand namesthats the only reason i brought it up. only to say you get good warranty
My customers can get support 24 hours a day, and they do phone me out of bed on Sunday mornings, and they do have 3 year warranties --- but again, what in th world does this have to do with the posters issues????does not count ... your not a manufactura. that is a service that you provide just like every company on here
-
standardization. whould that be a good thing. no not at all. why have every company working from the same page. will that include pattents on new tech
good, that's why we have chosen a supplier with a total solution that doesn't start and end with the camera - because the current status would require us to mix and match like a puzzle.mix and match is a good thing with ip. are you telling me your supplier will do the VMS or NVR and cameras but not allow othe manufacture of cameras to use there product. he will have problems selling that.
-
Your statement is a misnomer - Nothing that doesn't have a name on it can possibly be called a "Brand".point me out a good camera. with good tech and returns policy and 3 years warranty. post the spec
-
LOL --- What is a brand? and how does it get to be NO-Namethats simple when it has no-name were can you get support or a good return policy.
no-name is a bin job if it fails. which is bad for the install company and bad for your customer.

Who is pushing no name chinese brands80% of no name brands are from china

Hey, guys, I really want to know if this kind of DVR system can be used as a spy camera at home?A "SC189 Photograph Vehicle Mount Video Recorder Camcorder with Audio & Night Vision" from Pickegg, $40.49 with no freight cost. Sorry, I can not post link here, you can just search by yourself. Thank you.
It seems so cute, and I have no car and other Vehicle devices, and I think it is much better than my home SPY devices. How do you think?
Got one here customer payed $35 camera and 3in screen big load of rubbish

There is so much more to this that I couldn't possibly run through it all on this forum - I would suggest you get hold of a professional security company ----- not a CCTV guy. Somebody who is going to want to understand what other security systems you already have on the premises, how the solutions they propose will interact with existing systems, and asks similar questions to what I have been asking.sorry if its CCTV you are looking for then yes talk to a cctv guy
Please - avoid at all costs , those guys that ask you where you want to put a camera and then start telling you , you need this camera or that ---- the biggest indicator of caution, is when they start popping brand names - usually you are going to have a branded solution force fitted to your problem.nothing wrong with brand names. much better back-up and a true warranty. ok they may cost a little more than brown box cameras from china. but with using brand names by a cctv installer or seller is they do know the limits of the camera and it will do its job for that area to protect.
why not give your location they are many on here from canada and there are many places you can buy from in canada saves you importing (if you dont know cctv then you dont know what your importing)

Hmm, I never have issues finding them or with their support. They are always there and helpful to me.nice one mate.
I must have been looking for custimer support on tehir IK based website
tech support is country based. if you are in america or canada then the above is ok if not you will need to find the closest to you.

I'm not gonna lie, my business partner doesn't want to invest a lot into a camera. We just want the camera to overlook a lighted hallway so we can see who is coming in / leaving. So I guess I am going to be stuck in the cheapo quality division.good little cheap 1.3mp camera with sound software to record/ send alerts wireless or wired.

hi,if i try a more powerfull power supply could that not blow the cameras ? it has a 12volt power supply and the system has a 19 volt power supply which states in the avtech video not to put a bigger power supply onto cameras ?you can go upto 12v 5amp if you wished. your cameras will only draw what they need. but you still have the problem of your cable i would not up grade your power without doing your cable
the power supply 19 volts .... has nothing to do with your cameras it just the dvr power.

Hello all,I read some where that Avermedia can provide tailored updates to make Camera's compatible with their Stand Alones.
Does any one have a link or email address for them?
I have searched their website - not user friendly; hardly any info about customer support.
what camera are you looking at adding. also there was an avers ip patch released in may with 42 more added

hi, he says they believe the system has not been installed correctly ??? then why would it work no problem for weeks ?? ive checked all my cables and they have no cuts or kinks in them, the cameras went down one after another 1 camera 1 week then another the next night and so on,if the system was wrongly installed it would not work from day 1 am i right ??no your not right. lead kits are rubbish. you have cheap wire going to a phono then to a phono to BNC at both ends of your cable. lots of connections best not used on 1 cable run. then the cable not good for video and the powerside to small .............. cut a power plug off and see how easy it is to snap a bit off with your finger.
were are you located. do you have a cctv supplier you could take a camera to to test ??? you can do it yourself but you would need some good coax BNC crimp tool and also know how to fit it. and also a good power unit.

What technology do those beams use to detect motion? Those beams don't give any false positives?
hi beams dont detect motion. works by braking beam
-
hi,so these systems are probably cheap copies ? bloody hell have u seen his feedback on ebay no complaints whatsoever, and this is a nightmare as ive ran the cables all neatly round my property & drilled walls etc to install cameras outside to watch my car and property, the annoying thing is it was great at first and the picture quality was pretty clear which would identify a crook or vandal no problem, feel ive been ripped off with a cheap copy systemno not copy. your dvr will be fine. you have budget cameras and budget dvr. but you are linking everything to gether with cheap nasty cable and power unit.
RG59 i have seen over 10 years old still working the lead kits you get with budget i have seen the ends pull of as you get them out of the box. you may have hit your cable with hammer while cliping or cliped the wire to tight and damaged the cheap lead kit.

Just an update. We were told it could be a ground loop problem so plugged it into a battery backup and ran the entire system on battery. The same problem continued. Anyone have any additional ideas? Looking at it live-in it really 'looks' like some kind of frequency interference. Any ideas on that angle maybe? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thxwhat i would do is change all BNC connectors. you could have a bad ground on 1 or 2 of the cameras. what happends if you start to plug a camera one at a time into dvr ???
also seen this on 16 way power supply were it had a bad neutral to some cameras (bad solder on board) and the camera is picking it up though BNC

hi,ok i will try tonight when its dark, will unplug all the cameras & try one on its own to see if the ir comes on,he did send me another power supply which i tried yesterday & it done nothing,im sure i tested that with the old power supply i just put 1 camera on the power supply and it was still fuzzy picture he told me to try that,if not what should i do ?? send the whole lot back for a full refund or get him to send me 4 new camerasif it can go back then yes i would. if you break the system up all you have bought is a dvr and 4 cameras. lead kits and cheap power units alway need slinging in the bin.
have you tride to take footage off the dvr. also try that.

So perhaps it was slip of the tongue to state that it won't workAnother question: It would be nice to be alerted when there is movement on the property, either by text, phone call, etc. And we would like to remotely view the alerted camera on lets say on Ipad or whatever. Is this possible?not a slip of the tongue ill stand by it. cameras to be used at alert motion back to dvr to send report or alert does not work hence why i said beams. also beams are more reliable than PIR (which give the same problem false alarms)
Need help on a big project!

so a company comes to you with a big budget for cctv and you sell them a paint ball gun.
so were is the protection in that. car damage / theft / identification / protection.
