  1. hi. a cctv system can be a expensive asset if you just want to monitor. the first thing you are going to say once you have installed your system and you get an event is :::::: i wish i had a better image. unless your system is monitored 24/7 then i would look at either using 1 or 2 of your cameras for entry exit points (at least try get make model of car) or an image you can use of a person.

also motion detection does not work when activated by cameras and you also get the same false alarms with pir sensors. you are always better with the likes of optex beams.

you may want to install your system yourself but i would take the time to talk with a engineer (plenty on here from canada) it could save you money

  2. okay, tell me about the gizzmo and where I can get it. Oh, by the way I am in France, so I deal in PAL and 220avc

  3. Okay, what's a good 4ch DVR?

I can collect the TV video out in real time to some sort of video recorder, but I have lots of hours that I want to share on DVD or CD even youtube.

So I buy this gizzmo that fools the DVR into thinking it's a USB, down load it to my computer then What? I still end up with .vvf on my PC.

I can do that now with a USB key. It's the .vvf part that's a drag to deal with.

hi yes you can just convert the footage from your dvr to video. and it has been done by many with your problem over the years. the problem is who uses a video now.

the gizzmo will not send your fottage to your pc as vvf. it will be a file that you can use and convert to media.

the gizzmo is just a cheap usb cctv recorder. one of the chanels goes to your dvr monitor output and you plug the usb into your pc

  4. I have a VisorTech DVR4004 and the USB backup video format is .VVF (.V V F) The problem is it is totally unrecognisable by any mac or pc player, cd/dvd burner. It is impossible to make CD/DVD copies of securtiy video footage for the police. I guess I could record from the TV out on a VHS in real time, but I tossed mine about 10 years ago! I looked at everything on the net

No luck. i have asked the comany I purchased it from PEARL.fr as well as the MFG, no joy. I'm ready to return it for my money back but what can replace it?

hi. you may find it quicker to just buy a cheap usb addaptor and play back your footage from the tv out of your dvr to a pc/laptop.

then buy a good little DVR to replace yours.

  5. hi there,

thankyou for the welcome and your reply,

i am running XP professional,Sky sagem 2504 on DCHP

    Avtech 761 4 channel dvr,

i have set up a DYNDNS account but i just do not know which ip address to put where and how to set up port forwarding on the sagem, at present i can wiew my cameras on my iphone via eagleeyes app and on my desktop via 192.168.0.3/8888.

hope this helps, look forward to advice, thankyou for your patience...regards skididlee......

Hi if you are new to networking. then i would do it the easy way sky (bt) will give you a static ip. then you will not need to use the likes of DYNDNS service.

  6. I would have vastly preferred that the discussion stay on track

it is staying on track. if your seeing network problems. then if you let people know what cameras of VMS you are using then we can compaire

but you do install you have a blog and advert saying so.

The topic is about HDcctv setting the new standard. And If i tell you that I don't install and you tell me that I do ---- then i really think you are better off just answering those questions on my behalf!

tesc_cctvpro i asked a simple question. on what products you used if your seeing so much latency (your quote 90% of installs) it would have been good putting it into prospective . so it is part of the thread.

And If i tell you that I don't install and you tell me that I do

you asked me to look at your website yesterday. your writing not mine.

largest business ... Specializing in Surveillance System design and installation ... CCTV Video Surveillance, IP Technology & Solutions

and before you have a go at me like you did yesterday. my questions were good but you dont seam to give a plain answer back. you go all around the the answer.

you seem to be active on alot of forums. and what has come to light is you are doing alot of copy and pasting. so i can now see why you cant answer.

another post were YOU say you install.

Hi Guys, nice to join the group - off the bat, I want to start offering VAAS to my customers, where I only need to install IP cams on the premises. I don't know anything about it ---- so where do i go from here

ill leave your posts alone now as it does not seam to be going anywere and when you ask people to look at your sit ( like me ) and you make a comment you dont install. and you have a go just because it says you do on your site does not make sence.

  7. I would have vastly preferred that the discussion stay on track

  8. We do not believe in loyalty to any brand or technology, we believe that the ORD will ultimately define the criteria for each project, and that equipment, software, etc will be selected based on those criteria.

sorry but that just does not make sence. ok what have you used in the past and how did you find it.

its good having someone that uses a wide range of VMS software. which one would you say was the overall best and did you use a wide range of cameras

  9. In an ideal world yes , the majority of networks could be like that --- my observation in the real world though has been that 90% of networks to which the new breed of IP Installers is plugging IP cameras - are not like that!

90% is high. a cctv network should be dedicated all brand new and not used in connection with anything else.

along with good switchers. that way latency is so low its not worth talking about

  10. that not 1 app is compatable with all dvrs/ nvrs I agree

    so I installed:

-Eagleeye, (the Symbian version (.jad/ .jar)) for AVTech's dvr's

yes but have you download java first onto your samsung ???

    could be,

the DSS1000 is indeed an Avermedia system

so on the shop owners iPhone I installed from the Applestore:

    DSS iViewer By AverMedia &

    AVerDiGi iViewer By AverMedia,

still, I can't get it to work

    http://www.defencemeasures.com/dm-5288.html# no its not avermedia.

I'm not sure if this is true

when installing AVerDiGi PDAViewer by Avermedia it replys: content not supported

but then again the Samsung is not a finished machine (birthday present, what can I say)

for avermedia you dont need java as this will come from the dvr when you first log on to it from windows.

you just put avers java script after the dvr ip. but since you dont have an avermedia there is no point going though the settings

  11. Hi your problem is you are using apps that are not compatable with either your dvr or that are not compatable with your phone.

    DSS1000 pc-based DVR (forwarded port 88 & 5550) on Speedtouch modem

AVERDIGI App on iPhone -> not working

avermedia is a dedicated H264 app can only use with avermedia. for iphone or android // java software for anything else

your samsung is windows so you will need a java app then you can download the avtech java viewer for there dvrs

AVTech KPD616 standalone DVR (in DMZ) om Speedtouch 501i modem

Eagleeye on Samsung -> not working

hikvision have a few for windows but again i would use the java viewer. from your windows mobile

  12. Thank Rory:

How does the unit compare on user friendliness:

is the unit easy to setup in comparison?

How do you rate the CMS/Network software in comparison

Now that's the kind of response I was looking for!

hi. so thats what you are asking questions like that

How does the unit compare on user friendliness:

is the unit easy to setup in comparison?

How do you rate the CMS/Network software in comparison

  13. Well lets see --- firstly you are implying that i claimed to be TVT

well sorry i did not look at your website. i just know TVT as a company that i have been too.

It seems to me you are trying to use this thread to plug your product!

i have not mentioned Avermedia at all.

dahua, TVT, Hikvision, geovision --- what does that matter - I want to develop a questinoaire to send to my customers to determine where the product I am selling them....falls short of their expectation.

then that is the point at which you start for your questionnaire. but to be honest i dont see why you need to send your customer a questionnaire if the product you sold falls low of there expectations.

If we exclude the petty - I am sure we could come up with a pretty decent survey/questionnaire that could be used by any distributor , regardless of the brand they represent.

that would mean the distributor would have to stock lots of brands and that cant happen. as you know one product will not do it all.

so what are you asking. should we compairing TVT against dahua geo aver hik Q see. i just dont see how that will help your questionnair

  14. Tom, I gather that you seem to be antagonizing!

dont see why you see it like that. but i was right. you are a distributor and not TVT. and thats all my point was.

your question has many replies. i gave it on the dahua side. never used the Q see so cant comment.

but i cant see how you can compare. TVT they all use the same O/S.

  15. hi. am starting to get a bit confused on your posts. TVT is not your product you may be a stockest but TVT are a company in there own right.

and share a common O/S with the likes of Q see and dahua. dahua being the company that is getting to stand out from the rest with working with the O/S and bringing there products forward. (new range from dahua out in mid june)

i dont see much you can compare to the TVT range. both dahua and Q see have a good tech support

  16. I cannot imagen that I am the only one having difficulties setting up a stream server accessable for mobile phone (iPhone's, Adroid's and BlackBerry's)

hi. i can see this being a long post. so you dont have any of the above ??? you are looking to get images from a avtech onto your samsung. ???

  17. hello all,

I cannot imagen that I am the only one having difficulties setting up a stream server accessable for mobile phone (iPhone's, Adroid's and BlackBerry's)

perhaps someone past a "reference" page while surfing internet?

like to know what to put in adressbar, as

    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/mpeg4/1/media.amp

    rtsp://username:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/mpeg4/media.amp

    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/axis-media.cgi/mjpeg.cgi

    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/live/mpeg4

    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/stream.264 HMHMHM ARGgg.. I'm lost

why doesn't the manufacturer put the correct streamadress-strings in there manual including ports to trigger/ map/ forward

all hints and suggestions are VERY WELCOME

    Greetings, Lampy

hi. what dvr /nvr or direct ip are you using iphone/android you will need a app

  18. I was GIVEN a $4000+ Sony SNC-RZ50N IP camera/wireless card & antenna, inside a UNIORS7C1W housing.

I want to set it up in ONE high spot inside our fabrication shop to be viewed at 1 peer-to-peer station.

Can a simple $40 24VAC 100VA transformer like this be used to power the housing which will then convert the current to 12VDC?

    http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/FUNCTIONAL-DEVICES-INC-RIB-Transformer-2ETD7

it would be best just buying a regulated 12v 2amp power. give your camera protection.

  19. Actually the entire gist of the article originated within an extremely price sensitive environment where DIY installs are the order of the day

Hi tesc. 4 years to reply thats not bad. but have things changed in that time .... yes they have very much with better cards and better display cards.

just had a quick look at your site. reading your blogs from 3-4 years ago. i just find it interesting why you first dvr product listed after all you put into your blogs is a basic cif dvr. 4 years ago you talked about quality and now you sell cif

  20. Hello,

I have a client who purchased Sanyo Cameras and a Generic DVR. When I plug everything in and than power up, the cameras are displayed for a brief 5 seconds and than they shut off. Just guessing but could it be that Sanyo Cameras are only compatible with Sanyo DVR's/DVR Software?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Regards,

    Chris.

    Hello Everyone,

I have known about the site for a while now and I figured I should register and say hello.

I have been in this industry for about 5 year now. I have my own company that sells, installs and wholesales. So I am just peaking around if anyone needs help I can help answer some questions as well. Hope to see you around.

    Thanks,

    cbellissimo.

cbellissimo. dont take this the wrong way but why are you stuck on such a basic question. you own a cctv install company and also a cctv wholesale company. both of which you should know the basics of cctv being an installer and a sales company.

your problem could be anything from a short in just 1 BNC giving the dvr a short and switching off to your cameras are under or over powered.

first test plug your cameras into a tv or test monitor see what you have.

bell out all your cables i.e check all BNC conectors. check that all pos and neg on power are all the same

plug 1 camera at a time back into your dvr
