  1. Hi,

I'm looking for advice in setting up a CCTV system in my shop. I'm on a budget so looking to keeps costs to minimum. I've purchased Active WebCam Deluxe and intend to use that as my software.

What type of cameras would you recommend? Would webcams with 1.3MP be ok? My shop is is not huge, I'd say 20 feet would be the farthest distance from the camera location.

    Thanks for your time guys,

    -Patrick

    Hi Patrick.

with your shop only being 20f i would just install a 4 camera system with h/d and remote viewer. remember the software you have (active webcam deluxe) will also need you to have a good size hard drive in your pc to store the footage plus it always needs to be connected to the internet. you have a good cctv supplier not far from you in dublin. go and see a demo.

  2. Hi slim.

regarding the apollo. i have come across this system a few times here in the uk. it is a very very basic system. 1 problem is you can only back-up 2 cameras at a time and you also need to stop the system recording to do this (most people forget to hit record when finnished) and you get a lot more for your money from systems like avertech or avermedia.

  3. Got my first Avermedia EH-5216P Hybrid DVR. Played with it for a few hours yesterday and I got so frustrated with it that I almost through it across the room

I find the search and playback feature to be really difficult to use. I mean I've been installing DVR's from NUUO, Geovision and a number of no name brand embedded DVR's and I never had to sit there and study the manual to figure out how to search. ARGH!!!

So for starters the search is not broken down into minutes like every other DVR I've used for the past couple of years. Aver breaks it down to hours. I like the DVR's which break it by hour and then you can zoom in on the hour to see the motion recordings by the minute and not have to play back the hour like Aver. I may be doing something wrong and maybe there search is superior to others but I haven't figured out how or why it is supposedly better.

I have the recordings set to motion recording but yet it is always recording....WHY? When I do a search by motion it is always showing that no motion has been found. YET, the monitor display will show a green triangle when I pass my hand in front of the camera indicating that motion was seen.............What the heck...

I guess I have to contact a tech support guy to walk me through the setup again which begs the question why is this system so hard to use!?!

I'll reply back if a new revelation hits me and now I think this is the best DVR ever but right now it ain't cuttin it!!

Hi 3RDIGLBL you are doing something very wrong. let me give you a hint. STOP USING THE REMOTE CONTROL. AND INSERT A MOUSE YOU WILL SEE THE O/S CHANGE. to the same as the sa/nv/xr and then see what you think of the system. you will then find footage not to the hour but to the second. and much easyer to use. but please make shure you have the new EH and not the EB.

  4. adding dvr cards is something i have never done. and it sounds as this is what you need to do. if it is somthing you know how to do then you should be able to sort it. but if not take a look at the link. pure ip nvr at the same price as a card set-up. supports most ip /axis/sanyo/sony and it can have 5mp just thought this might be the best and easy way for you. plus it frees up your pc.

  5. Just saw their stuff online, was wondering if anyone had any dealing with them?

Hi Blake. pos systems need very good back-up support so you are best dealing with companys in your own country. (i am in the uk but i buy my stuff from america) but dont by direct from korea.

is it pos systems you are looking for ???

  6. the specs of the wire are:

    # 100 foot White Premade Siamese CCTV Cable with Power Wire

    # Coax Cable: 26AWG Mini-Coax with BNC Male Connectors

    # Power Wire: 22AWG with (1) 2.1mm x 5.5mm Female Power Jack and (1) 2.1mm x 5.5mm Male Power Plug

The camera is using a 1 amp psu and yes it does have IR on it but the horizontal lines appear weather IR is on or off.

1amp over 100m is your problem change your power supplys 12v/3amp or 12v/5amp

  7. I have purchased a new Siamese BNC cable with power and video. The problem is that When I hook it up to the camera, there are some wavy horizontal lines on the screen. I though maybe it was because the cable was in a bundle but then I unwinded it and the same thing is happening. I also used a different cable that I have on the same camera and there were no lines. This cable is 100 feet long and the other one I used was 60 feet, I need the 100 foot one for a camera farther from the DVR. Could this be some kind of interference or is the cable just bad? I double checked all my connections to makes sure they were pushed in all the way and they were.

can you tell us what size power supply you are using and do your cameras have ir on them ???

  8. Hi EFEZY.

in places were its going to be dark install good black/w cameras with ir. dont use colour ir flashing lights play about with colour. and were you can entrance/bar areas use a good colour camera without ir. night clubs and low light bars are always hard to do with so many lighting conditions. i.e ultraviolare lights strobs and many other bright colours. if you are in the uk you are quite welcome to go and see an install in london 32 camera system to see the quality.

  11. Hey guys,

We have 4 camera's in our unit and i've just been sorting all the IT things.

The computer we had the 4 camera's connected to doesn't work anymore, but i have access to the hard drive by connecting it to another PC.

The problem I have is that I dont know what the model is for the card. The details I have are as follows.

I know its a Conexant Capture Card as Vista told me this. (Saa713x(v) Video Capture Device) There is a label on the card that says: AOP-V8004, 8016 ver2.0. S/N: 2006460500396 but thats all. There is also on the card, 2 serial (?) ports and 1 ariel/coax plug?

    Any help would be great.

    Regards

    Dean

Hi dean. a very big user of the conexant capture cards or a company called hikvision. i had a dvr system that was built in poland the customer purchased the system from a company that would not help him at all. i also could not do anything with the dvr as it was locked up. hikvision sent me drivers and dvr sofware and everything ran ok. that was hikvision in the uk. here is the usa site.
