    wheres the experts gone ??

I have got to get me some of those. Very expressive! Where do you get those wihout all the included SpyWare? Rory is posting pictures of himself now. Now that’s an expert. That will be 12.95. And don't worry that is MSRP

    wheres the experts gone ??

Would 29.95 be too much? You only gave me 19.99 last time and the suck up statements are getting better. No, seriously I think you are funnier than h*ll. I could have been wrong about your expertise, but I am a beginner compared to you so I don’t know yet. I do really appreciate the help and it doesn’t bruise my ego to tell people every now and then.
  3. I haven’t tried levitating a person, but I have been trying to move things with my mind for years. It only works when I stare at an object for so long that is looks like it is moving. I’ll settle for that. David Blaine, Voted the 'Biggest Loser' of 2003 in a British poll for spending 44 days in a box suspended over the River Thames in London, without any food. (From Internet Movie Database) I never heard of this guy until today. Does he have a regular series of shows or just here and there? Let me know when he comes on again I would like to check out his show.

    wheres the experts gone ??

Don’t feel bad he misspelled Parly (Parley) and memberlist (member list). I usually try to type my comments into a word document and then paste them into the post once my spelling errors and grammar mistakes are taken care of. I don’t really care about the grammar so much. A lot the experts are still right here. One of them is that crazy guy above with the funny looking Smiley face. Scott has a great sense of humor in addition to being very knowledgeable. There are many people here that are knowledgeable and you know who you are. I appreciate the knowledge and the help that I have received from everyone in the short time I have been a member.
  5. Yeah I remember you posting that Active Eye one in another thread. That is a sophisticated system. Showed which vehicle was at fault in an intersection. Iomniscient is another system that was impressive with its ability to count people in a large crowd. You got some good links to some interesting products.
  6. http://www.spytown.com/savc1hirecoc.html Your welcome SpyTown! I don't know how small this camera is, anybody know the physical dimensions? Looks like a good little camera I could use over the top of a cash register. Is this last years model? I couldn't find this camera listed on Sanyos web site, just a newer model? Any feeback would be apprecaited, as always! What's the deal with only using a manual IRIS? You adjust for your light and leave it that way?
  7. The problem you are going to have with the satellite is that all your download speed will be going to waste in a DVR application. And the upload speed will be slow like a regular modem. It will be great for downloading once your moved in. It sucks for trying to use in a DVR application where upload speed is the most important factor. On your side monitoring will only be as fast as the upload speed of the connection at your new house. (I apologize if you already know all of this.) If you can get ISDN then you will get at least twice as fast upload speed that may work for you depending on how many cameras you want. I think WirelessEye might be able to help you out if your house is an area that can be helped with wireless technology. It something to explore anyway.

    Thermal Cameras

Is a Functional MRI not useful in this area? Or is this like streaming video as you’re referred to it above? What information is gained through using a thermal camera that would help a patient more than the current methods used? In a sleep study they already have to wear a mask like an Air force pilot and many electrodes for monitoring. And then they are asked to sleep while wearing these. Is what you’re trying too do more for cumulative study for later scientific analysis? How small of temperature changes are you trying to monitor?

    Thermal Cameras

I don’t think that would work. Because of the nature of sleep apnea I would think you would need to not interfere with the patient’s neck area at all. But I could be wrong. Maybe Zark can comment on this. I like the idea though.

    Geovision & Modem Access

I didn't find it. I was told about it in another thread from someone else. That is one of the things I learned from here. Thanks for the compliment though.

That is a nice setup. I love those thermal cameras.

    Geovision & Modem Access

You are right. That is why I like this site because it does measure upload speed. Also you’re able to choose a server that is closest to you for a more accurate test.
  13. I was under the impression that it was the thicker shielded stuff. I saw some West Penn wire that was the thicker shielded stuff and thought this was what I was getting. Alas I was wrong. I will probably install it just to see how it works out as it is not that difficult of a job. Pretty much straight shot in the attic with a fairly good amount of clearance to work in. If it doesn’t work out I will much more careful in making sure I get the right cabling. I have had so many delays on this job that I can’t spend anymore time waiting for parts, etc.

Yeah, I like this one the best. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ Shows you your speed with a speedometer for both up and down.

    Specifying a UPS

This is a very nice APC unit I use http://www.apcc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=23&tab=features It easily sets up with a PC running Windows XP and once you configure the voltage tolerances and other features you can then use it for a stand alone DVR. It will remember all your settings. It keeps track of every time it goes on battery backup, which could be for to low voltage, to high, brown out, power outage, etc. If you use it with a PC it has a good management program that comes with it. The software tells you how many watts are currently running through the UPS and estimates run time for you. You can program it for audible alarm or only between certain hours or no alarm at all, just battery backup. It connects to a PC through a USB port and can shut down your PC automatically before the battery goes dead. I just bought another one of these the other Day. With the DVR, 2 external Hard Drives, 2 cameras (so far), router, USB hub and 19â€
  16. Why will it eventually give me problems? I don’t want to run it if that is the case. I have 2-3 50ft lengths to run and 1 100ft length. It works fine lying on my house floor. Of course there is nothing near it to cause problems. I don’t want to use this stuff if there will be shielding issues. I thought if I stayed at least a foot away from electrical I would be OK?
  17. We can’t keep up with you. You are always up to something new. 25’ square poles. Wireless, Humm… I wonder….
  18. That is a underwater camera. Do you need that? The 48led’s on that camera will probably reflect of the lens giving you a poor picture. You would be better off to have a motion light that comes on and provides enough light for the camera to produce a usable image, if possible. It is a really low resolution camera. You can get a nice B/W with more TVL and it will see better at night. I don’t see an IR filter on it either which will give you distorted color images. There is a lot to learn about cameras. You might want to really spend a little time in the camera section of the forum reading through the posts to become more familiar with the differences in cameras and how to pick one out.
  19. That Siamese cable I got is really thin. The wires in that cable for power and video are still smaller in diameter the regular sized cable. As long as I don’t have to pull this wire through any tight spots I should be ok. I have a 100ft length of it and it works great laying on my floor, but when it gets in the attic of a Bar that could be a different matter. I hope I don’t have interference problems with this stuff and have to rerun the better cable.

    Help With Geovision POS

  21. That translation software never works accurately. If it did we could invite everyone from all countries. You might be able to figure out what they are trying to communicate, if your lucky? Here is a slang word for you; choche; same as amigo, which is Friend.

    FPS-WMV-MPEG4

1 – depends on the unit and how it is quoted? If it is 30 frames per second for the whole unit then yes divide that number by the number of cameras to figure out your effective frame rate. Some systems allow you to adjust the frame rates for each camera individually so can have more flexibility. 2 – The media format question is a little tougher. Generally AVI is just a container for video. That codec that produced the compressed video will determine its quality. WMV and MPEG4 have a wide variety of codecs that determine the quality of them as well. Resolution, bit rate, audio quality all contribute to the quality, files space ratio. There are so may codecs and settings for these codecs that there is not a simple answer to this question. 3 – This question I can’t attempt to answer because I don’t have enough information. Picking cameras has got to be the hardest part of any security system. There are so many factors to take into consideration to pick the right camera for the right job.

    Thermal Cameras

You can’t have sleep apnea occasionally, either you have it or you don’t. You probably snore occasionally Rory. Snoring can be a symptom of sleep Apnea. It tends to run in families. People who are overweight are more prone. Basically the tissue in your airway relaxes too much allowing your airway to become obstructed. So your body wakes up several times during sleep to get you to start breathing again.
  24. No Habla en Espanal. Un pequito. Despues de tengo que ir. You would definitely need some type of translation service being performed some how. Don’t know you could effectively implement something like that here without a great deal of effort. And what percent of posters would post in Spanish?
