    Software on Pc and laptop

You can identify the data files and than use a sync file program to keep the files in sync with the newest files always being the current version I use Quicken, not for business but for paying bills. The data files are probably similar to these can can easily be copied over to the laptop if you would like, if you want to do it that way also.

    Explain this one to me.

This can be explained very easily once somebody figures it out.

    Opinions on Mace CAM43CIR

Rory, If you have any still shots or video can you post them or send me some samples. I wasn't impressed at all on their color bullet camera either. I have some video I took before I sent it back and I think some of the MACE cameras are better?

    Geovision ver 8.0

I could restore it back to the way it was shortly before I did the upgrade by restoring the whole partition. I don't want to have to reinstall Windows as I would lose all your tweaks you did to my system. I also would like to know what exactly the firmware upgrade did to the Geo card? I could restore my partition, but because of the firmware upgrade I think version 7.05 will no longer work. It would not work after I did the firmware upgrade and installed version 8. Without a manual or at least instructions regarding the firmware upgrade I don’t know for sure.

    Geovision ver 8.0

I have it working. I just want to know if things are working as they state in the manual. So far I am finding what I would consider to be bugs. I am compiling a list of things that don't seem right. I don't know if there was some type of conflict with that OEM version you gave me and version 8. Multicam crashed when I try to edit passwords. I don't know how I am going to fix this yet. I'm am tinkering with it right now. You would think Geo would release a manual for a end user though. Not everybody is computer literate like I am. If you have a manual Scott how about sending me a copy or posting a link

That would be great. I still haven't got one.

    Geovision ver 8.0

I ended up rebuilding the boot file by using the Recovery Console. Uninstalled Version 7.05 as it wouldn't run anymore anyway after I upgrade the firmware that came with version 8 and then the version 8 software. Wish I had a manual. It won't let me choose the H.264 codec for the Webcam or Center, only Mulitcam. But at least I got it working. H.264 really looks like is will be a space saver. Will compare the quality when I get some more video recorded. The new Mpeg 4 ASP looks pretty good as well for saving space while retaining quality. I did not notice an increased load on the CPU either. If anything it might be running a little lower? Maybe the firmware upgrade did do something to improve the performance?

    Geovision ver 8.0

Upgraded a 1240-8 card against my better judgement and now I am paying the price. This is what happened to me • Flashed hardware first • Installed version 8 into another directory and left version 7.05 installed in case I needed to go back. • Password edit crashed program • Schedule settings were lost • Everything else was retained from the previous version although the other install was c:\Multicam rather than the standard c:\GV1240 • Remote playback server will not allow me to input my password to close it, give me message of incorrect password • Once version 8 installed, no going back to version 7. Get keypro error message, system will restart after third message • Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file • So system will not even load now • Make sure you have a fresh disk image before doing this update • Also I would avoid the hardware update unless it won’t work without out because I am not sure exactly what it does yet. It might prevent you from going back to version 7 if you need or want too?

    Geovision ver 8.0

Here is a link to GeoVisions website explaing the major differences. Many of the changes are cosmetic mostly. The H.264 codec being added should be a plus, but I haven't gotten any feedback on it yet. http://geomis.no-ip.info/english/product/GV-System_feature.htm Does anybody have any comments on the H.264 codec? Do you have to upgrade in order to use the new H.264 codec?

    Geovision remote software

As far as I know you are going to have to use VNC to access the Main GUI on the GEO system to make changes through the software. That is the easiest way anyway. The remote viewing software will allow you to see your security security cameras as if your in front of the DVR anyway. Hope this helps.
  13. I am curious if anybody else has had problems trying to setup the LinkSys WRT54G router? I have worked with two of these during the past week and have experienced a lot of grief. The main issue it that I can’t seem to access the internet through it. I have pinged the hell out of the thing, router, external IP. I am able to ping the router, but can’t seem to get the internet. What I have ended up doing is pressing the membrane â€
  14. I have always had good luck with LinkSys also until I bought this model. Haven't had an issue since the router has been removed. Not sure what the "Bridged" setting in the modem. I have not checked it yet. What is that supposed to do for me?

What does a failing IR cam look like??

That was a good one Rick. If you look at the IR, (in the dark) do all the LED's look evenly lit?

    Geovision ver 8.0

Well the way the release has been handled it makes me less confident in the software. Did it get pushed out too fast? Only the people testing can answer than. I was more interested in their implementation of the H.264 codec more than anything else, but I can wait. I want to hear some positive feedback on the release before I put it on a live system. The G22 version will shoot bullets when it is made available. I think they have someone in Canada working on this special advanced version now.

    Geovision ver 8.0

How embarrassing. Maybe they need to outsource? How long after they release the software do they write the manual? Anybody have a manual even a beta one would be nice? Is this how GeoVision normally does a release?

    Cookie Problem

Well that is the main reason, because the cookie works with the "www" version of the page. Other than that I don't know why. Maybe Larry or somebody else can shed some light on that. I am so used to typing in the "www" before any website or clicking on a link that I seldom leave off the "www", unless I am using a subdomain off a domain. Which would be something like larrys.cctvforum.com.

    Cookie Problem

Makes sense to me. You should only be using the www.cctvforum.com as the web address. I logged on with no issue though. Of course I lost my new post flags on the other screen when I did that, but oh well. Had to test it. My cookie problem is that I am hungry for some.

    Geovision ver 8.0

I thank you for making it available on your website. GeoVision's website has been updated since yesterday to say "Version 8 is Now Available", but the download page still has 7.05 on it? Anyway thanks again. Now just need to get ahold of a manual.

I'm a little curious, but not surprised.
  25. I disconnected and removed the router early this morning and so far so good. Even the CenterV2 application of Geo has been working today so far, whereas with the router in place it would only work for less than a half hour. I have ready many bad things about this router. So even if I send it back I will be lucky if I get one that doesn't have the same problem.
