  1. your AMD chipset may result in a problem too.....Most cards are built on the Intel chipset and not alwasy tested on AMD.

     

    The Avermedia DVR Cards will work great with that setup. Look into the NV5000 card. http://www.aver.com/2005home/product/dvr/window/nv5000/nv5000.shtml

     

    Here are the requirements for an AMD setup using this card:

     

    1. CPU must support MMX or SSE2 (codec, NRF, de-interlacing algorithm), above AMD Athlon 900 CPU will have these features support.

     

    2. Display card must support YUY2 hardware stretch. This is individual VGA card issue and is not related to AMD or K7 (except it is on-board).

     

    This was also on their FAQ section for this DVR card

     

    "If you plan on running only 4 cameras per system, you can run the software on one of the newer VIA K8T800 chipset (at least 533MHz FSB) or one of the newer AMD based motherboard with the Athlon64+ processor"


  2. Being the existing camera is probably a bullet IR style. There are most likely going to be no adjustments or dip switches for ATW, AGC, BLC, etc. I can give you a pretty good guarentee it is not a Super HAD as well. Ran into that a few times with previous ebayer customers. God I hate ebay


  3. It is an Avermedia DVR card and software.

     

    Here is a list of supported IP cameras.

     

    · Axis

     

    · O’Rite

     

    · Vivotek

     

    · Panasonic

     

    · Sony

     

    As long as the IP camera is on any network, anywhere you basically insert the IP address of the IP cam, user, pass and brand of camera into the setup and the DVR will connect to that camera as if it were an analog cam plugged directly into the card. But, you will need an open channel port per IP camera you want to integrate.

     

    The 3000 series will only be able to handle one IP cam and the 5000 series up to as many open channel ports on the card.


  4. I worked at MACE for almost 4 years. It is 100% not possible to control that camera through any of Mace's DVRs. Sorry... It is a great camera and should give you good results in any environment but we tried to get that control to work for sooo long with no luck. Your only choice would be to get the optional controler. I beleive they still stock the control w/ 100ft cable. But, you must have the newer 22z that has the newest board for the controller connection.

    These housings I hate to say are horrible. Used to carry them at my old job and never sold them for outside apps. The rubber/plastic gaskets DO NOT keep the moisture/water out of the housing. The only way you can mount these outdoor is if you caulk all seals...and still I wouldnt trust them at all. And if I remove the glass...I cant mount the camera outdoor Simon.


  6. I have used that same camera many times, less the IR's. Very decent camera for the $. Low light is pretty bad without the IR's, wonder what it would look like with the IR's at night.

     

    Simon, do you have any nightime snapshots?

     

    But, what if you want to put it outside?? How could you put that camera in a housing without IR reflection?

    So I got these in today. Fresh from EBAY...only $20.00 total for both. I think I got a pretty good deal.

     

    Anyway, got it hooked up and working with the DVR. Wireless pendant works at a pretty good distance too. Easy setup, except the cutting of the traces. I had the hardest time getting something small and sharp enough inside the TX to cut the traces for code setting. But finally did, and it works flawlessly.

    I'm glad I didn't spend any extra..this is exactly what I needed.


  8. Very Very simple, I have installed these cards many times. It does not plug into the PC's mainboard just to the NV5000.

     

    Yes, they come with everything. Basically you are going to install the ext. card, plug one cable from the ext to the nv5000 and thats it. Plug and Play.

     

    Boot your system up and the software will recognize the card extension and bring up the additional windows.

     

    Are you going to be adding an additional 4 cameras. There are a few thing you need to know if your only plugging in 3 or less additional cams.

    Basically, if you have a total of 6 cameras and 8 open ports. You will plug in the 6 cams in port 1, 2, and 3 on the NV5000 and 1, 2, and 3 on the extension. See diagram below:

  9. Worst DVR ever. Really crappy networking. I would ru from that one if you are planning on network the DVR. We put one in and ended up replacing it after 3 months. Collecting dust in storage now,

     

    Sorry about that link intercity. But this ^ pretty much sums it up. Remote access and networking isn't the greatest.
