I didn't see that the card had any BT chipsets, so I cannot tell you for sure that the software packages out there will work with it. Try luxriot, and see if you can get it to work, but the only thing is that for the cost of this software, you might as well pick up another DVR card. www.luxriot.com

    Video Insight vs. GeoVision

Video Insight all the way. I personally haven't had the opportunity to try them, but come on, Quality product, made and supported by a US based company, quality support, plus Thomas here is their lead technical person. What more could one want?

    PROVIDEO CVC-870EX?

Northen is great. But you are wrong about korea and japan. almost 90% of the quality cameras that are in the market are made in one of those 2 countries, even some extreme components for their cameras are made in korea. Plus there is the question of the sony CCD chip, or the panasonic, and even the low end sharp, all made in Japan.

    Use of UTP outside

You know, I really never understood why installers use PCV piping for running security video lines, when a crook wants to disable the camera, all they have to do is cut thru the pipe, which will take no time using a hacksaw with a good blade. I always use EMT (metal) piping for this reason, plus the job tends to go a little easier when installing the pipes, plastic tends to wabble all over the place, and almost all the jobs that I have seen with PCV, the lines look crooked.

    PowerTelecomm or Nuvico

Look into the CPCAM CPD505 unit. Very Stable, and it does 720X480 resolution, and even with your price range, you should be able to get it with a decent hard drive. http://www.cpcamnewyork.com/mpeg4.htm

    inexpensive solutions

You know, is really not a term of pc based or stand alone. IT really comes down to the job, I mean, I have multiple supermarkets and restaurants that have PC based dvr's, but the majority of small grocery and convenience stores I use stand alones, just because there is no space for a pc to go in, and the client most of the time wants control of the dvr when he's behind the cash register, which is why DVR lock boxes are perfect for situations like these. The plus side of PC DVR is that if the client does not like the particular card that's in it, it cost very little to replace it with a different one, which is why I carry 4 different manufacturers, you know, just in case.

    CPcam's CPD507 or alternative??

There is one thing that I can tell you, their cameras are real good for their price. It is true about the DVR, but they are fixing that and it should be addressed by the beginning of next year. I distribute their products here in the US and Latin America, and honestly, I have had a few problems with the DVR's themselves, in term of remote playback and no POS support, but their cameras cannot be beaten for the price that they go for.

    32ch stand alone

Hey guys, what are my choices if I need a 32CH stand alone DVR, that is not too expensive, not looking to spend too much cash, just something that is resonable, the client is very cheap as usual. I mean, I don't need name brands or anything just something that has a web browser interface for remote viewing. Thanks.

    Licence plate

First of all, I researched the site and found no direct reference to what I need. I'm doing an install on a property that has a underground garage. They want a camera to catch licence plate of each car entering and leaving the garage. The good is that is a closed garage, so the car will be still as it enters, for at least 15sec. To exit, it won't be able to do more than 3 mph. The garage is built under the main building, so for a car to enter, they would have to drive down a driveway, tha'ts no more that 15 feet wide, with walls around it, so basically all the vehicles coming in or out have to follow the same exct path. There is very very good lighting there so, I think that an IR won't be necesary, but will be installed if needed. What I need is a good COLOR ARMOR DOME camera that will be able to handle the task, it will be installed on the wall right next to the gate, about 2-3 feet from the vehicle path. Any suggestions?

    Help: Vertical Bar issue!

What kind of cable are you using? If you are running the wire too close to a flourecent light, this will happen, generally Camera wire should run at least 1 foot apart from ny electrical conduit.

    Remote viewing DVR's

Most cable systems in the US block port 80. Try setting it up using port 81, which on most cases work. Then, instead of using port 80 when typing the DVR address, do this, www.mywebsite.com:81 let us know if it works.

    32ch stand alone

Thanks for all the reply's. What ended up happening was that the DVR that kandcorp showed me, came across me this past week, I took another look, and indeed the company is finally getting their (*) together and the image quality has been improved dramaticly. Even the search features. So I went ahead and basically got the cards to make a custom built one. I have permission from the client to be able to use it as a demo for one week after installed, so if anyone wishes to see it, please send me a PM and I will show you.

    Licence plate

I was looking at 2 other cameras, the Nuvico NVCC-HVW, with the 9mm-22mm lens option, or the Panasonic WV-CW474AS. Any recommendations?

    Licence plate

I see that wizkid also makes a dome with IR built in, but from past experiences, I am very wary about using domes that have a ir built in, but being the company that it is, I think that I might just bite the bullet and pick one up to try out. What about sanyo and GE domes?

    Cop needing technical help.

Hello and welcome to the forum. For VCR TAPES, all you need is a good Time Lapse Recorder VCR, in which you can change the speed of the playback so that you can slow down the frame rate of the video. There are probably other solutions that I'm not aware of, but I'm sure that other members will be able to lead you in the right direction.
