  1. So, I downloaded a trial copy of Cyeweb to see how it would work with the Arecont and the other analog cameras that I'm installing this week. I'm using a K-Link 16CH card, using the bt878 chips. The card installed ok using the BT WDM drivers that they provided, and the image quality was good. Now I'm starting to try and get the IP camera to come up, but haven't had any luck. I anyone can tell me if this software is worth my time, before I dig-in too long. thanks.
  2. I'm installing a TVC-1066A Text Insert box into a RUBY register for a customer of ours. I have looked all over the net for a manual and I can't find a thing. All I can tell is that the company must have been bought out by honeywell, but I have had no luck finding anything on their site either. Any help appreciated.

8 ch video and audio for streaming to the web

I really hate when manufacturers try to push their products when someone is asking a question....... But to answer a bit I really recommend you choose the DVR card that will suit your needs, and then get a new PC that would meet the specs that the DVR card calls for. Now, the one thing I do recommend is that you get one that supports h.264, as it will give you a faster and better quality video over the web, but, Audio I really can't say, since Audio is Illegal to install here in Connecticut, so I don't have much experience with it. Good luck....

    Low lux cam

I know it's been covered, and I have talked to rory about in the past. Got a client that wants to put cameras in the nightclub he owns, I know that B/W cameras are what's called here, but this hard headed ........... wants color. He sees it as there are so many people in the club at a time, (350-500) he wants to indentify people by the color clothes they are wearing. Would like a nice color bullet or dome camera that has the lowest lux level that can see in this situation, as there will be some lighting, there are no smoke, no strobe lights, this is a tropical music club so there won't be all that jumping around found in other clubs These I will like to use also as register cameras so that we can have them zoomed on the registers (4 of them) and see the money put in. I explained to him that I cannot guarantee that the monetary value would be seen by the camera. I'm willing to try a couple before I commit to order them, as I'm getting a total of 10 cameras. They gotta be varifocals also. what do you guys recommend? Thank You in advance. PS: I'm trying to keep cost low, I had to lowball this quote, times are hard right now, but somehow people are still clubbing

    Capture card with digital zoom

I have had this problem always, but it stopped since I dropped my low budget customers. Get a Megapixel camera, with at least 5mp, and a good NVR server, like Exacq and you will be golden. It's not cheap, talking in the 4K-6K with everything said a done, but this is the only way you will be able to get a clear digital zoom to view people's faces.

Has anyone heard of this IP Software

Well, here we go. I installed the server at a client's location 3days ago, one Arecont 3130 camera, 5 analog cameras. System runs smoothly and with no problems. The recorded video is in one word fantastic, at 20fps and D1 resolution, can't tell the difference between live and archived. The system supports a lot of players in the IP arena, with more planned for this year. The GUI kinda reminds me of outlook, which at first bothered me, until I started using the system that I realized how user friendly the GUI is, which means less service calls. I have a demo 1 ip camera system currently running in a dealership, running on a very busy network, over 1000 pcs and god knows how many different subnets. The software picked up my demo arecont 3130 over all this traffic, and is right now recording anything that camera sees. The server software is running on a old dell, p4, 2.0ghz, 256 ram, on-board video. I really like this system, but it does have it limitations, some of which I don't personally like: The system uses TONS of Hard Drive space, according to their calculator, it will take 400gb to record one full day at D1 Resolution for a 3 Megapixel camera. I know the camera pushes all that data into the DVR, but they should see what they can do to kinda "compress" the data to save some space. There is no Internet Browser support that I could find, if you don't have the software, then you don't see the video. Very inconvinient when 85% of people who want to see what's going on at whatever location they have a remote CCTV system installed, do not carry laptops, or are actually using someone elses PC, and since Exacq has a password on their download files in their website, the client then must carry a disc with them at all times? if not, they out-of-luck. Viewing recorder video only limits you to one camera at a time. Plus, when viewing a megapixel camera recording on the server, it takes a while before you can get a picture in the screen. There are a few things here and there that are both good and bad, but overall, it is an outstanding system, and their support is like no other. It is almost impossible to get someone on the phone when you call, but they DO return voicemails, the longest Ive waited was an hour, I can't complain. I know the founders of this company have been around for a long time now, but this company is fairly new to the market, so I belive that in time any small details that need to be addressed will be done in a timely manner. I only have one request, and that is to please implement Stardot IP cameras to this system, after seeing a night time demo, I got blown away by the quality, and it is also priced right. I will post more as I get more details.

    Dealership IP system.

Sorry guys for not posting. I'm going there tonight to see how is going. I changed a few settings 2 days ago, and tonight I will see how is going. I'll get a few snapshots and get back to this forum. Thanks for all the help.

    Dealership IP system.

Ok, so I'm designing a IP video system for a local dealership here in the area. I intalled the Arecont 3130 camera, with a Exacq NVR as a demo. The idea is that the camera will cover the specified area wich is roughly about 40 yards deep and 20 yards wide. The camera's picture looks good during the day, but at night, all I can say is that the arecont website is misleading as to the image quality, plus I was also disappointed with the digital zoom. I'm looking for a megapixel camera that, when something happens at the far end of the lot, I can do a digital zoom from the archive and see for example the face of the person breaking into the vehicles. I know that it is a lot to ask for, but if someone can recommend me a camera that will let me get the best image possible, using a 6mm lens. The area has plenty of lighting, so that won't be an issue. Only requirement is that the camera must be IP, as we are not using analog cameras at all. I'm open to ideas. Thanks.
