    i never installed webplugin ot spss, just scanned them beafore installing them.

     

    Did you do backup before format?

     

    Do you have AVware Drweb mcafee. Running on your PC ?

  3. Hi guys, I'm a engineer from China. Since I know the price difference of access control is huge between big brands and other non-famous brands. So I think it's time to look for cheaper product with acceptable quality. I want to learn what's your opinion.

     

    Here is my opinion. I think the big brand is too expensive, the product is good, but cannot match its price. The small brand is much cheaper, but nobody want to try because of the risk. Distributors should pay more effort to try the non-famous brand, to find cheaper products with acceptable cost for the market.

     

    I have been learning some access control systems in China, the quality is not far from Honeywell or HID, but much cheaper. If we can spend time on testing and identifying the good Chinese brands, I believe the profit will goes higher, and easier to expand the market. Just like the CCTV market, who sells Hikvision or Dahua many years ago earned much from it.

  4. Looking at the NVR Network Config... turned off DHCP & assigned the NVR an IP on my local LAN (192.168.1.10) and rebooted the NVR.

     

     

    It shows the Internal NIC IP4 Address as being on a different subnet (192.168.254-1). Do I need to assign the internal NIC the same IP (192.168.1.10)?

    The NVR is assigning the POE connected camera's an IP on the same 192.168.254-* subnet?

    Yes

     

     

    Turning DHCP off doesn't turn it off?

    DHCP only apply to Local NIC


  5. It goes to the goal of a security camera which is to capture what happened.

     

    NVRs do vary, but take something such as the Hikvision DS-7604NI-SE/P. It can record up to a 5 megapixel resolution. So the 3MP, 4MP, or 5MP camera gets fully recorded just fine.

     

    Now the playback output is 1080P.

    Which lines up with the majority of monitors/TVs out there in 2016 being 1080P.

    But the recording is still in 5MP (or whatever the camera recorded it as).

    So on playback, if a person wants to see the higher resolution, they can zoom in and see it. Just like an iPhone or Android smart phone where the photos are captured in 8MP or higher, but the screen is only around 1080P, so zooming in on the photo afterward to see whatever detail.

    Same deal with the high-MP NVRs, the recording still has the detailed resolution to zoom in on when needed.

     

    NVRs with higher playback resolution are appearing. There's the Hikvision DS-7608NI-S that can playback up to 2560x1920. And a few manufacturers at the Vegas security show a couple weeks ago were showing NVRs (and cams) with 4K resolution (about 8.3MP) to line up with the 4K budding trend with TVs.

     

    How many years will we all have 88" 4K monitors in our bathrooms? 5 years? 12 years?

    Maybe by then, 27MP monitors will be coming out?

    Can someone explain to me why i should set my camera to record at 2688x1520.

     

    When viewing through my TV the NVR only gives me a max resolution of 1920 x 1080p for viewing the camera. The TV doesnt like this even though its a full 1080P tv. I have it set at 1600 x 1200 to make it look normal.

     

    So im only viewing at around 2MP and recording at 4MP, what is the point?

    What i gather from your answer, plug them all into one switch and connect that to the PC, but wouldn't i have bandwidth issues?

     

    From what i know,

    A switch that claims gigabit speed is generally going to be in and around 120 megabytes per second transfer speed.

    if 1 camera used 11 megabytes per second and i multiply that by 20 i get 220 megabytes of traffic per second.

     

    I'm also avoiding managed switches due to cost,

    - about 400 Canadian for Cisco SG300-20 and

    - about 200 Canadian for a Intel EXPI9402PTBLK Dual port NIC

     

    Unmanaged Switch will cost me about $150 Canadian for a Netgear Prosafe

    and each NIC will be about $50 Canadian each for a Intel card

     

    I dont care about POE because i have a PSU connected to my fuse box which im going use and make a DIY POE injector

    You mixing up megabytes and megabits big time !

    Your cameras most likely will stream at ~ 3-4 megabits (each)

    now do your calculations again

     

    All you need one 24 port switch and 2 network connections in your computer

  9. look at ubiquity they have some high capacity APs and backhaul units that may work compared to other mfgs usually quite less costly.

    All 6 NanoStation M5 that points to Rocket M5.From rocket m5 than to my pc to have access to each NVR through NVR ip adress.

     

    should this config work?

    Was this an added cable to the mid-point traveler cable(reel type) or added on its own at mid-point.

     

    And approx. cost, just the cable part, not cameras or setup of those.

    Elevator company has to run any cables and were not keen on the idea of adding a wire.

     

    Elevator company charged customer $8000 (added on its own at mid-point.)

    for 2 cabins

    This is basically my situation. I am connecting the camera to a "remote" POE switch.

     

    Followed the instructions on the Technical Bulletin, including connecting a patch cord from the NVR port to the switch. The camera came right up.

     

    Here's where it gets weird: Followed the instructions for cameras 2 & 3 (in two other remote buildings), and they came up WITHOUT connecting a patch cord.

     

    I disconnected the patch cord from Cam 1, and it killed it. Cam 1 needs the patch cord connected to the NVR port, while cams 2 & 3 do not.

     

    Confusing, but it's working, so who am I to argue...

  12. 2 elevators, 16 floors, so under 300ft of traveler cable

    2 AXIS IP cameras in each elevator

     

    Current working by sharing emergency phone line, but not entirely happy with the setup, can get freezing now and then, and not just when car is in motion, seems to happen randomly, stopped or moving.

    Client is fine with the system, been up and running a few years, this is more my "pet peeve"

     

    No open(unused) wires at all, of any kind, on traveler cable, which is why the phone line was used.

     

    Wireless is an option as last resort, not against it just prefer a wire.

     

    There is a dedicated 110vAC circuit for vacuum cleaner plug in in each car, Lights and other AC devices, including the current camera setup are on another circuit.

     

    I have used the newer ethernet over power line units in other applications(not for cameras yet), they worked fine as long as they were on the same phase, and these would be on the same circuit, 250ft apart, wire-wise.

     

    So has anyone tried these in an elevator application?

    Just finish 2 elevators, 18 floors with TVI cam

    new cable was run from middle point

    works great

    And, I'm still wondering whether or not it's essentially impossible to connect to my NVR by any other means than hardwired....

  14. Hello Experts,

     

    How would you handle this? I'm installing an HD-TVI Standalone Tri-Brid DVR that allows for 16 HD-TVI

    cameras plus 2 ip cameras. The customer wants me to connect one of the cameras

    to an HDTV, along with the standard connection to the NVR.

     

    Some of the HD-TVI cameras offer both analog and Hi-Def outputs, but that analog output

    will not be very sharp when connecting that to an HDTV using an RCA cable.

     

    I've seen IP to HDMI converters, HD-TVI to HDMI converters, but if I use these devices, I will not have the original HD-TVI output to connect to the recorder.

     

    I'm thinking the only economical option is to install 2 cameras...An HD-TVI to the recorder and a HD-SDI camera to an HDMI converter to the HDTV. It seems as HD-SDI to HDMI is the cheapest format conversion.

     

    Anybody care to jump into this mess?

     

    You are on right track but,,,

     

    buy another HD-TVI cam and 4 ch tvi standalone

    and use as tvi to hdmi convertrer

     

    HD-SDI is kinda dead


  15. Hello Again CCTV wizards here - it was remarkably warm for the last day of a leap year February in Canada here with temperature reaching 59F @_@. I took the opportunity and spent the day installing my first Avigilon 2MP PTZ Camera and damn while it looks easy, it was quite an effort to do a neat install job. Hats off to all of you guys who do this for a living Will share some pictures with you guys here after the snow storm passes but for the past few days I've been messing around with the trial version of Avigilon Standard Server before buying the final license from our good ole buddy here Alek.

     

    I also installed the Gateway software and Avigilon mobile client on my android phone. When I am in the local network, I can simply enter the server's IP address in the mobile client gateway and the camera video will be displayed. How can I configure this for remote access over the internet? I am using a DDNS service from no-ip.com since I use remote desktop frequently but I've no clue on how to configure the Avigilon gateway for remote access? The Avigilon server and gateway are running in the same system btw.

     

    Some help and tips would be greatly appreciated!
