Also Zyxel has a really cool feature called Intrusion Lock on there switches for security. Once you plug in all off your devices you can turn on a setting that if a device gets unplugged the switch disables the port. There is no way of hooking anything up to that network wire until you log into the switch thought the Local console port on the switch. Making your install very secure.

Thx for sharing about Zyxel it is very cool

will be offering to my customers

  4. Some cameras these days actually have amplification settings built in and they measure the impedance on the run and auto adjust...I still use Coax...but perhaps I am old fashioned, I also do not like the skew affect.

If I havea long run I simply use a camera with built in amplification and ...no worries on Coax

What would be the model number for such cameras please

    Thanks

  5. to answer some of your questions:

hmm dont u compare number of pixels on CCD ?

yes but what are you comparing a sony ccd with a megapixel ccd?

if you take standard Ip camera ( non megapixel ) they have the same ccd as an analog camera. Ask your buddy Rory. He is very honest.

    [/b]

    hold it

u sad "Open an Axis camera and please tell me what you see? I bet my ass you see a standard CCD from sony"

How u can compare reg cam with at the most 420K pix

with megapixel CCD or Cmos ?

    Dont forget about progressive scan.

I never forget this, "They do"

the same can be sad about Kell factor

which everybody forget or dont know about

  7. What are you people smoking? Analog and digital. How are you going to tell me that an Axis cameras is digital and that a standard ccd camera is analog. WOW. Really? Open an Axis camera and please tell me what you see? I bet my ass you see a standard CCD from sony, like the sony ssllx or maybe a sony HQ1 ( analog ) camera just like any other camera in the world. What makes the Axis camera digital? That fact that you are converting it at the camera and not the DVR? People talk about things without any knowledge or sense. Its amazing. When a so called " analog " camera goes into the dvr it also becomes digital and is streamed digital. Same as an IP camera. Whats the diffrence? Where its being done? As far as the AXIS being a better picture quality. Please. If you believe that i have some ocean front property for you in Vegas i would like you to buy. Hello, Mcfly, its the same ccd as that found in Pelco, Samsung, Panasonic and even Cop cameras. The picture is the same. You tell me. If you compress all your cameras at the dvr and have one video stream for all 16 cameras is this not better than having 16 diffrent streams from 16 diffrent IP cameras? Of course you will say no. Your recoding platform is also on a PC based system with 4 gigs of windows OS to help you run a DVR program thats ment to run as an add on to an OS unlike an RTOS stand alone with full processing and dedicated OS for the DVR only. But of course the PC is better right?

An if you compare a megapixel camera to standard HQ1 540 lines of course the megapixel camera is going to look better. BUT, try sending 16 cameras at even 1 megapixel over a network at 30fps and see what happens. I know what your answer will be. Just drop the frame rate and res on the cameras right? Well then whats the point of having megapixel if you cant transmit at megapixel and store at megapixel? Try storing a megapixel picture at full frames in an NVR and let me know how many terrabytes you will need for couple of days of recording. I give IP cameras credit for one thing and one thing only. They have been able to sucker everyone with there terminology and marketing. Everyone says they have digital cameras as opposed to analog and the truth is they believe it. For this i give them credit. But i would really study things prior to speaking about them and look at things from a practical point of view and not a closed one.

  9. Just confirmed with Nuvico it takes 500mA on the 24V side as well.

    Well, here we go

    just for fun

measured DC and AC current for CNB dual voltage D2315 camera

    12V---.26A ~ 3wt

    24V---.13A ~ 3wt

    not to be mean but...

plz call back Nuvico tech support and ask if anybody ever measure

current and at the same time ask if anybody remember Ohm's law

u might be surprise with answer

  10. Seven Reasons Why the New iPhone Sucks

Look before you leap before buying the new iPhone. This is the iPhone that all of us have been waiting for. It promised to address the deficiencies of the first generation iPhone, but does it really?

    Read end of this article

"Okay, now that I got that off my chest, I feel better and what the heck, so it’s not perfect but it’s still the coolest smartphone out there (other smartphones) and I still want one. I look forward to seeing you on the line. "

  11. You might want to double-check the specs with Nuvico.

First, there are no regulated 24VAC power supplies that I know of.

Second, if the camera draws 500ma at 12VDC, that would be 6VA (approximately the same as 6 watts) (0.5 x 12). If it still draws 500ma at 24VAC, that would be 12VA (approximately the same as 12 watts).

So the big question is what happens to the extra 6VA (watts)? It can't just disappear into thin air so something has to dissipate it. While 6 watts doesn't sound like an awful lot when compared to a 100 watt light bulb or a 1,500 watt space heater, it is a lot when it comes to electronic equipment.

If that power is not used by the electronics, it has to be dissipated as heat. 6 watts is a lot of heat to dissipate, especially in a camera.

On 24 V side it does not take 500 ma

  12. I'd say that your finger is being seen by the camera as a large bright object, so the camera isn't applying a lot of gain and so the number plate isn't clipped.

In the scene without your finger the number plate is a smaller portion of the scene but the brightest part. The camera applies gain so you see the dark areas but allows the highlights to clip so you can't see the number plate.

Try bringing the number plate closer. It'll probably do the same thing as your finger if you get it close enough.

or if u have option in camera settings "negative" try it

  13. Sorry, but I have to ask the OP... is that some kind of new browser feature that CAPS the 1st char, or did you actually spend the time doing a SHIFT+KEY on each word?

    I like your ??? a lot

    looking forward for answer

  14. How are you experience whit the people that are gonna use your systems?

Lot of you guys are installers/owners of a cctv company etc.. etc.. and i am really curious how you looking to the users of your systems.

    My experience

I have seen a 90.000 Euro system used by really stupid (shop owner/security/reception etc..) employees.

Not using any of the modern functions of the system.

    [/b]

    My opinion

    Company who will build DVR

which feel and looks like Time Lapse VCR

    will sell as hot cakes

  15.

NUUO is very good s/w and simple to use..you cam teast trial version!!!!

While I believe Exacq will preconfigure their software onto a server, will NUUO? He mentioned he is looking for a preconfigured unit. I'd like to know for my own info too.

Nuuo has NVRmini Linux embedded based

support 8 brands of IP camera

    NV-2040, NV-4080

    never tried yet

    I agree

that is true with 90 % of the system

    Stop--- find clip-----save clip-----burn clip

    that all people want

  17. I am trying to figure the requirements for a fixed IP camera that would record people approaching a front door at about 8 ft distance. The camera will be outdoors, so varying light conditions, but there will be a constant 60W light source. I need to be able to identify faces.

Obviously I don't need a really high resolution, extremely low Lux level and IR, but I'm not sure what would be reasonable camera requirements to start with in this location.

I would suggest that u allocate at least 50-70 pix of horisontal res

if u know what i mean

  18. Not bad... I'll look into it.

Apparently the TRENDnet TPE-S44 hub I found is not discontinued, and is still available for $70.

Any pitfalls I should look for, like camera power consumption or voltage requirements?

Clause 33 of IEEE 802.3-2005 (commonly referred to as IEEE 802.3af) is how Power over Ethernet is usually implemented. It provides a device selectable 36–57 V DC, though usually 48 V, over two of the four available pairs on a Cat. 3/Cat. 5e cable with a selectable current of 10–400 mA subject to a maximum load power of 15.40 W

  19. I'm looking for an ethernet hub (wired or wireless) that has at least 4 ports that are PoE. I'm having trouble finding one that doesn't cost a few hundred dollars. The only one I've found is the TRENDnet TPE-S44, but it is discontinued.

The individual PoE power injectors are pretty cheap and I'm wondering if I'm better off simply powering each ethernet line separatly and forget the all-in-one hub/PoE device.

    Any thoughts?

    $120
