  1. Many of the Chinese DVRs based on HikVision have Virtual Matrix also, no idea how good they are though, just saw them advertising it from a couple years back. Geo has something like it but its not really the same, its called the Multi Quad Card, meaning it gives you outputs to multiple monitors with I believe it is 3xQuad and 1x16 views. Tell you what, recon sends me a couple SLI's, Scorp sends me the PC for it, and I will see if I can add it into my software

I actually have a dual VGA card installed here, but it just gives you a wider screen, which personally I dont like, so I use it for a single monitor only.

No Rory HikVision actually have powerful PCI Matrix card

  2. Hello DC,

I saw your forum for several times and for your question i will give you some suggetions.

1,you need the camera keep the record in dark night? So you need one day/night camera.Sonny ccd is good choice for you ,because it has a good image in night.Only sonny ccd is not enough, your camera should with IR.

2.Your building light will wash the keep record? So you need change the camera as auto iris lens, the ALC can control the light automaticly. It will change your prolem(wash the keep record)

3,your camera is indoor camera? If you want to install it outside you need some bracket for it so that it can be installed easy.

This most valuable suggestions I ever seen

"indoor camera need bracket to be install outside"

I usually just glue them or use nails

4.You want to install it outside? If you want to install it outside you need water resistance vandel camera. It can resist the water keep the camera for long time to use.

all of these are my suggesion for you ,hoping it can give you some help!

    Thanks and Regards!

  3.

I have software that I sell to the local clubs here. It is a facial recog system that drops all of the data at the end of the night. Should someone get kicked out for a low level incident than you can mark this file. The next time he/she comes in a flag will go up allowing your security staff to keep in eye on this person.

Do u mind to share which software u are using ?

    Thanks

  4.

Is there a poweline interface for analog cameras as well? I would be interested in these as well. This would be great for remote view of a DVR without having to go wirless with a "video extender" device. I do not like the loss of privacy using wireless products.

I would be interested in a powerline "block" to keep the video from exiting a building, and adding security, and/or privacy.

    Thanks ak357!

    1.Analog camera-->ip video streamer-->powerline module

2.They have own encryption soft with password

  5. Has anyone ever used the powerline IP cameras?

The other question is how would you get the camera signal from one phase to another phase such as in a residential home?

X10 has a device that passes the signal from one phase to another, is there something similar for powerline IP cams?

    Use them all the time

but u right they have to be on the same phase

    I should correct my self

I use powerline network adapters with IP Cam

  6. you probably have to use hik cards (HW compression)

so far what i know and use is 8 ch D1 Card

I just use 4 of them to get 480 to view and 480 to record

    at D1 res

  7. Murders? Wow, I was only talking about Theft and vandalism and B&E's but I imagine the procedures in a murder case are much more strict.

I also asked what they use to view/edit/enhance the video and they wouldn't tell me a thing. Interesting.

As you know yourself any exported video is a "copy"

and "copy" will never stand in courts

    but that life

  8. I have been involved in about 10 police cases and they haven't taken the DVR yet, usually they just take the CD/DVD of the incident and I have even had Police take the whole back up folder on a USB drive. If you do a complete back using the back up tools, they run the ezviewlog500.exe file, and the codecs will automatically install.

i been involved in few murder cases and after talking to

local police department forensic video unit that what they tell me

even more they do copy of the drive with their "own software".

I asked what they use and they politely refuse to tell me

  9. ak357, thanks for correcting me, yes when DVR meets NVR these should be called hybrid (no exception on NV's own spec).

Besides cost factor, what else do we sacrifice by going megapixel IP cams? Limited lens options (or do these work with CS mount lenses)??

Don't think "sacrifice" you gain quality and this is for me is #1

    priority

they work with 1/2 CS style

    I use 4-10mm and 10-40mm

  10. I haven't used both systems, but when compared on paper the Avermedia seems to win. the 1280X1024 resolution would be strictly for IP cameras, there are no "standard" analog CCTV cams that cam transmit close to that resolution. This means that aver is only accepting the data from the megapixel camera and that resolution is dependant on the camera. No matter, it seems IP cams are the wave of the future, I hope Geo catches up. I haven't even tried an IP cam yet because geo doesn't support it. If you purchase the avermedia card, please post the results. I checked out their NV5000 demo site and it was very slow. didn't find the remote IE client to be as good as geo's, at least from this site.

NV7000 demo clips anyone? Can someone show us the quality of this card.

501 I strongly suggest to try mega pixel cam

after selling about 15 of them so far I have hard time to look or sell reg so called " hi res" cctv product

  11. Rory, I suspect by "DVR", iSpyVision is also including those that handle both analog cams (vis BNC) and IP cams (CAT5 ready). I know strictly speaking this class of "DVRs" is normally referred to as "NVR" (by the way NV7000H absolutely qualifies to be in this class, as implied under '3' in my list).

I'm now more convinced NV is a good buy... (after adding '4' to the list -- hardware compression of H.264 compared to SW in GV2008).

Well all these "comparisons" are on paper -- got to see the real thing though......

I believe this class of DVR call Hybrid
