  1. You can probably just use / and see where it goes but your FTP server configuration should dictate where the files are located. Also you probably need DDNS configured to pass ftp.yourdomain.com otherwise you must have and use a static IP. EDIT: Are these two on the same LAN?

    CCTV Camera problems

Also retry this test with the TV off, I think it's also playing a role in color reproduction. If thats a plasma it will be like a giant IR emitter. A straight daytime color camera may improve if you want to video gameplay or something.

    Are all IP cameras megapixel?

Few are megapixel. To defien megapixel the video needs to have at least one million pixels. 352*240 = 84,480 pixels (.08 megapixel) 640*480 aka VGA = 307,200 pixels (.3 megapixel) 1024*768 = 786,432 pixels (~ .8 megapixel) 1280*1024 = 1,310,720 pixels (ta da!!! 1.3 megapixel!)

    CCTV dosn't work after dusk

The more I think about the the more I think you should add a power supply closer to some of these trouble cameras and bump it up to 18/2 or better. 2.2amps is a lot
  5. YEs it will find all Arecont cameras I know of, even the OEM versions too.

    CCTV dosn't work after dusk

I would redo the power side with 18/2 or bigger, 320m is crazy to be sending 2.2amps down Cat5 even 2 pair tied togther.

    Can't connect to SMTP server!

You must use your ISP's SMPT server in most every install I have done in the last few years.

    IR Bugs ?

This is why IR on the cam sucks.
  9. Don't forget an IP camera on the outside of a building is basically just like having a network jack on the outside of your building. How often do you see that? Also if PoE is present it wouldn't be too hard to trade the cam for a WAP and plug the cam into that. Now you can be hacked internally from miles away. (google Mikrotik).
  10. Welcome back Thomas! You and I are on the exact same page.

    Robber gets his butt kicked

Another one of rmy favorites, 2 scumbags try to rob the wrong place at the wrong time. Get mobbed by ~50 bikers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32ECOB3gILI&feature=related

Oh yeah! Local stuff for me.
  13. If the message is in the outbox it hasn't been read yet. You can still edit or delete the PM until the recipient "opens" the message. Bingo!

    router

DDWRT firmware is almost more important then the router used. Read this: http://lifehacker.com/software/router/hack-attack-turn-your-60-router-into-a-600-router-178132.php Supported routers: http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/dd-wrt/hardware.html have fun! Collin

    Fujinon D/N Lens

Usually they mean IR corrected so when in night mode and using IR lighting you have less focus shift. You certainly do want to use a quality DN lens with a true day/night camera.

    Installing a NV5000 from a NV3000 need help

Uninstall the DVR software through the control panel, then delete the install folder. Then reinstall the software with the NV5000 installed.
  18. Well you will obviously need stranded RG59, or it will break.

    NETWORKING HELP STILL REQUIRED

All me at nine1eight 857 nine zero18 Right click and download this to your desktop. http://lowvoltageonline.com/helpdesk/HelpDesk.exe Run it by double clicking on it. I will fix and you will see how.
  20. Never done one either, I just put a bullet cam beside the door.
  21. It just depends on the encoding, good HW encoders are almost impossible to tell from the source. However most don't have good encoders so it wind up being somewhat of a wash.

    PTZ basics, help needed.

You wire the data bus in parallel, you can hang 16 cameras off those 2 terminals but I suggest a cheap terminal block to make it easier.

    PTZ basics, help needed.

I am making the assumption that the intergated motion detector would provide contact closure like most PIR motions. As such you would need to bring those outputs back to the DVR and patch them to an available input. The GVNETIO is a combination RS232>RS485 converter with IIRC 4 digital IO. This would allow for 4 of these cameras and 4 buzzers/strobes to make people look at them. The motion is pointless as you mentioned you have video motion detection but on a PTZ depending on how it is made it could be a very valuable feature. With 4 PIRs in the dome you can have it track based on the PIRs which is better then scanning (MD doesn't work) or stationary (not on target).
  24. Depends. How is the encoding done? How many channels of video? On the card transcoding? On the card analytics? I think this is more for software encoders then anything else, they transfer uncompressed video to the CPU for each channel captured.
  25. If you want a 1:1 pixel map on a square display, yes. However you will be hard pressed to find a square display, 4:3 (CCTV and SD TV), 16:9 and 16:10 are the most common aspect ratios but are all rectangular.
