    Techwin trouble

I sold a Samsung Tech. SVR.........the 440N to be exact. Its installed at a residence on a DHCP. tech support is telling me their DDNS software doesnt work for that model until a firmware release. as lame as their efforts to resolve the issue may have been, I was advised use a 3rd party DDNS host to get this DVR networked. Anyone have any suggestions on who to use? Is this a reliable solution, or should I exchange the unit for something else? thanks

Whats the story on the Wizkid brand? It sounds like you've had some issues.

    WDR Camera

A grand for a 484, huh? Sounds like you're really gettin over on that one, my man. If you're married to that camera then I guess I would say you know how to pick 'em'. Your customers?.........not so much. Personally, I have 2......yes, its the best looking camera I've seen with real D/N.........still unsuitable for locations where i need VP domes, etc. A thousand bucks....................classic.

    S/N Ratio meaning help

In theory, the higher the S/N ratio, the higher the quality of the image will be produced. As far as camera spec sheets go, it all depends on what conditions the camera was under when the S/N ratio was measured. As I understand it, an un-weighted signal gives the most accurate measure. Some companies use special filters during testing to improve the S/N ratios of their product. A weighted signal is about 8 db higher than un-weighted signal. So, its no surprise that most manufacturers dont specify whether stated S/N value is weighted or unweighted. If they do, you can be sure their not trying to hide anything.

    WDR Camera

About that EQ600 by Everfocus.............I just listened to a guy's pitch that the EQ600 is the best WDR camera he's seen. He bragged that the spec sheet for that camera reads 95 db of dynamic range. The 484 reads 52 db and the Ganz ZC 701 (my personal favorite) reads 60 db Im a little unfamiliar with what this spec really means as I usually focus on the S/N ratio of a camera. What is the difference and why would the Everfocus have such a higher rating? Thanks

    MUX to LCD

Right. Basically, I got what I paid for with those janky muxes. I guess Ill never learn. I think Ill send those back and upgrade to a single high-res mux displaying all eight cameras on one LCD at 1280 x 1024. The other monitor gets digital cable. rgds

    MUX to LCD

ARM 4 Ch. mux If it matters, the specs on the website list the refresh rate as 60 fields per sec. The OEM manual reads for 30 FPS. http://www.armelectronics.com/page.aspx?p=72

    MUX to LCD

For a public display project I'm attempting to display 2 seperate multiplexers on 2 seperate LCD's (32" / 1366x768p). I figured if I found a MUX with S-Vid outs (rare) I'd get a clean picture. Well, not the case. S-vid from the MUX to the LCD displays nothing but black screen with a horizontal solid green line . When I plug a camera into the MUX it shows the image but it strobes in all display modes. The dealer claims its a refresh rate problem. I've tried converting to VGA and I get poor results. The LCD's will go back before I use the BNC monitor out. Im looking at Kramer conversion devices but Im thinking Ill see the same incompatability between the MUX and the Kramer box (S-Vid to DVI??) Ive tested the S-Vid on other smaller TV's and it works. I need to get a clean image to these very expensive monitors and without totally exploding the bank. Im already in pretty deep. Thanks

Best place to get these camera's.

The bullet itself may be sufficient, but that mount couldn't hold up an eggshell............A real pain to work with if that camera weighs anything.

    arm electronics cameras

Rory, those new WDR domes sound awesome. The D/N SuperHad sounds pretty sweet too. What I need most right now is a rugged dome with WDR. Make that a minidome and were really talking. I havent tried the SuperHad myself. I could save 50 bucks by using it instead for more price-conscious customers. Afterall, they're both a hi-res dome and use that same housing. Asthetically, its a nice looking camera wherever its mounted.

    arm electronics cameras

Yeah, this one here..... http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodID=731 ARM has it in a Super-Had and an ExView model, like you said. Both are at 550 LOR.

Im using a newly released VP dome put out by ARM (ExView) and getting excellent results. They dont have this cam on the ARM website yet, but be on the lookout. My only beef with this camera is, out of the box, the cable is fed thru the side of the base of the camera which makes no sense for a vandal proof dome. Re-routing the line under the camera base is somewhat of a task, but it can be done.

What does a failing IR cam look like??

Yeah the LED's do look evenly lit. However, the cameras are around 3 years old. Considering what I paid for em, they're probably goners. Thanks
