My HID rep is horrible. Still waiting on him to get me some demo keys. He made an appointment with me and then didn't show or return my calls. Pitiful.

Doing some research on this and it seems it will only work on the Android platform and not the IPhone because Apple has not opened it up and only allows it to work with Apple Pay. Has anyone else came up with the same conclusion?

I was in the beginning stages when I posted that. NFC is Android only. Apple only works with Bluetooth.

Amateurs are the ones that can't lock down a Windows Machine. The whole world runs on Windows. US Government, Medical Facilities, and the list goes on and on.

Hikvision and "Top of the line" can not be used in the same sentence.

Look at Axis.

We have 16 virtual boxes running on Vsphere. (Dell R920s) But in this case the directory server is a real box. Make sure the bios clock is correct on the Virtual box. Otherwise on a OS reboot the clock will be far enough off that Genetec Server service will not start until time is corrected. Currently running 8 Virtual Servers on each Dell R920. These boxes were configured with 4 processors and 96GB of ram. If I remember correctly there is 8GB of Ram and 6 cores per virtual.

Avigilon offers a standard server and a premium server. The standard servers are configured with all 6 drives configured in RAID 5 with a 100GB Virtual Disk for OS and the balance virtual disk for data (C & D) The OS and the application run on the OS partition and the D drive is used for video data. 256Mb is the maximum recommended bandwidth for Inbound and Outbound traffic combined. The Premium Servers have (2) 256GB RAID 1 disks on the back of the server for OS and all the drives (12) on the front in RAID 6 for data. There are 2 SFP Fiber slots on the back. If you have one of the fiber slots connected to a 10Gig switch you can do the 1350Mbps. If you team all 4 copper nics together for 4Gb you can do the 450Mbps.

I have seen Lenel and Bosch Mercury panels in the same enclosures on the same system before. 2220 and 2120 panels.

Most sliders are break away from the inside. If the Mag locks are connected to the fire alarm and the doors break away you should be good unless they come up with a non fire emergency scenario.

If they get to the actual server to destroy it you have bigger problems than just loosing video. If they go to the trouble to hunt down and destroy the server they are not going to be dumb enough to show their faces or leave prints.

Wow you have a lot to learn. First you need to master Life Safety Codes or you will be in a world of hurt. If you know how a relay works then you know more than most guys do.

I really don't know what good a 480x320 image is going to do on a high resolution camera. Some cameras reduce the resolution by cropping the image.

My bet is the switches are junk. Post part number so we can read specs. How are switches linked and how do they connect to the NVR?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't used the Surface, but I've certainly been down the road of the PoE splitter. It can get to be a bit of a pain when you're 30' in the air on a pole, a ladder, or in a bucket truck, but I guess most all of us have sucked it up and done it. I hadn't thought about the Surface having that port. Thanks for the idea. I think I've narrowed down the model we're going to try, but it's really hard to get good input. It appears that there are several brands, but all built by one manufacturer which means it really comes down to who you want to deal with on issues and warranty. Unfortunately they all seem to be overseas. It's crazy what they build into these things now. I noticed two models have fiber testers and a Time Domain Reflectometer all for $600. I LOVE having a TDR available, but heck my Riser Bond TDR probably weighs 15# by itself and was $3500 back when I bought it. BTW, if anyone is interested, apparently H.265 compliance is in R&D for the testers and will be released locally (to them, overseas to us) in "3-4 months." Then it'll be another 3-4 months before being released over here in North America. It won't be a firmware upgrade and will require purchasing a new tester. 99% of the cameras I install are remote zoom and focus. I just sit in the office and talk to the guy on the pole and tell him to either move it left, right, up, down, or rotate. Then I zoom and focus. Once he puts the cover on I focus again. That's the perks of using upper end cameras.

Most of the time I use a surface and a POE splitter. If the switch uses port security I use an injector and my surface.
