  1. When I saw this post I almost immediately though about our friend Rory.

You might consider checking his website and see what you find. If he doesn't know how, I don't know who does. " title="Applause" /> He might know as much about Dahua as the company's engineering department.

Every time I visit cctvforum.com I think about him and his contributions to this forum community. What a wonderful and unique person, as each is in their own unique way.

    What about this?

    viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26942&p=165010&hilit=dhsingle#p165010

its what I use and it works great.

  2. I'm also in NYC.

    Safety 1st.

Don't take chances with your safety and especially not with others.

If something happens with the elevator after you work on it without authorization from the proper jurisdictions (AHJ's) you may be in a lot of trouble. You might regret the day you took the job...

When I work on top of an elevator in NYC, it is required an elevator person be present, the building has to announce to the tenants when the elevator is going to be shut down, and the board of directors has to approve the

time and day of shut down. Huge PITA!

  3. Hi... I think you should try that if you can.

Please remember safety 1st and if the camera is plugged into the top of the elevator car you may need to call the elevator company. Otherwise if something goes wrong with the elevator after your testing / repairs you could be in a lot of trouble. IMO

Maybe there is a problem with the elevator Cable supplying the AC and is intermittent. Have you thought about

putting a UPS up there and plugging the camera into that?

  4. After sunset maybe... Have an attic fan pull out the hot air and then in a few hours, your should be ready to work.

Yeah, last year I quickly realized uh, it's summer- there won't be any ideal day in an attic until mid fall. You either wait or you sweat and work. I chose to sweat and work- I wanted my system installed.

    Good luck!

  5. Seems like some good points Tom.

So basically this technology can only be practical for small applications if they don't need high fps and have short runs (under 100m). If they have the cabling in place and it is of sufficient quality. Also the cameras should be competitively priced and cheaper then MP IP.

Otherwise it seems like IP has its advantages in new installs and pricing in theory should get better over time.

yes low latency....... only in live view. as far as FPs goes that depends on the recorder and out of the 3 makes in a demo today not 1 could get over 15fps and 1 unit could only do that if you changed from 1080 to 720.

the cable lenth problem of 100m can be extended at each 100m with repeaters but at a stupid price.

a 4 way HD-SDI with cameras and a few extenders falls way within the price of a avigilon system.

and its always going to be at the back of your mind........ the cost of spares. and loan units

  6. Hows the picture quality affected? You have a before and after?

    Thanks.

i've put clingfilm on my vulnerable cameras.

its not the best solution. but it does the job. if (when) the camera is sprayed, i just remove the clingfilm and replace it.

    nice and cheap too

  7. Hello and welcome.

Hi all I am new to the site but not new to the security industry. I started my career in 2000 as an installer for ADT security since then I have sold systems, designed systems, worked as a distributor, and currently I am an account manager for a company that specializes in CCTV, Access Control and Intrusions systems for commercial customers.

Refreshing to hear. Some people seem to think they have all the answers...

I am happy to give my advice but no one knows it all so my info is based on my experiances and the systems i have worked on.

  8. Looking into hearing other opinions.

As you might be aware there is a theoretical side and a practical, implementation, marketing, etc., etc. side on how a technology, idea, etc gains traction.

Its always interesting for me to hear, read other opinions... Do you agree?

^ is your company looking into HDcctv vs. HD-SDI products?

  9. Thanks. But I already did search. Want to hear other opinion also...

If everything was from Google why do we need CCTV Forum? Why do we need training? Why do people go to college?

    Just google it...

Lets hear what Carl has to say if he wishes to express his opinion. Also intrested in your opinion Alex?

Hi Carl. Have you compared HDcctv vs. HD-SDI? What was your opinion.

    Thanks.

  10. Hi Carl. Have you compared HDcctv vs. HD-SDI? What was your opinion.

    Thanks.

It is a digital signal over coax.
Thanks. I'll remember that next time I'm installing digital signage (which is never), but not when installing CCTV cameras...

  11. Hi.

If you anticipate a lot of usage by customers you could get a separate ISP account connection (additional cable modem, fiber optic internet connection, etc) just for streaming your IP cameras. While you will have additional monthly cost involved for the additional account, your business internet connection for your work computers, office terminals, etc should be more reliable, faster, and less trouble some.

Another thing to be concerned with is bandwidth. I don't know the amount of upload bandwidth at your business, but if you have several incoming connections at once it can possibly slow the network to a crawl.

  12. I think I know who you can call to find out how to unlock it.

Don't know if they will tell you how though. Might have to prove ownership (I don't know their policy).

Anyway try calling or emailing razberi (http://www.razberi.net/)

They are a bunch of people from the former GVI. They have some senior and technical ex GVI staff working for this new company. Good Luck!

    Razberi Tel: 469-828-3380

Take the cover off and look for the a reset button by the small battery. If there is no button just pull the battery and wait about 30 secs before putting it back in.

    Thank you.

There is a reset button and a button battery. I held the button down for two minutes without getting unlocked. I tried removing the battery overnight and it did not unlock. I tried holding the reset button down while powering up. So far none have got me out of the lockup.

I really appreciate your trying to help and your suggestions are logical. I am very discouraged to be locked up even after all this. I guess they assumed a bad guy wanted to access the system might do all this. I sure wish I knew how you can get it u. I do not care if it gets unlocked back to factor defaults just so I can us it again. What a waste to have a good machine in this locked state !

  13. What do you mean by "I smell dead rat here"?

HI everybody.. my daughter's DVR got screwed up so she called the installer and the guy came and replaced with this.... no papers no documents... I smell dead rat here..... charged her 800$

To me it looks pretty obsolete Your opinion... Looking for Your judgement so I know how to handle the situation... sorry, the DVR front pic is pretty fuzzy...

    Thanx for help

  14. What part of confidential don't you understand?

You go on and on and on. Learn when to stop. Some things are just not public.

Do you have any pics of the inside of the casino your working in?

    Lets see the surveillance room.

Do you have pics of any you "installed" or is that top secret

Mike do u really want to see pix

    it's Dahua

I just want to see something that he installed

  15. What?

Have you ever traveled to Europe?

Go visit Rome where they build homes out of concrete. How are you going to fish you wires there? They seem like they barely use conduit. I saw wires surface mounted on the outside of prestigious buildings, tourist attractions, etc.

Not everyone builds with frame construction.

I am a firm believer in the only conduit on a house should be the 24" - 36" of stub for a phone/coax demarc... when it comes to everything else it seems like wires can always be fished, may not be easy but it can be done... I know I wouldn't want a stick of pipe running up my wall so I would never put it on someones house... it seems as though "high end homes" and "conduit" don't go together... just my opinion though...
