    Switch question

Have a residence with 5 - ip cameras going in (1.3 megapixel), plus 2 access points. Question is can I run all 7 devices with 1 POE switch that meets all power requirements, or is it better to run the access points from their own poe switch? Does anyone have pros / cons about doing that? This is the switch I would use http://www.netgear.com/business/products/switches/smart-switches/smart-switches/FS726TP.aspx Thx...

    Switch question

One thing to consider is noise. I prefer my gear to be silent. Just food for thought. No worries here, will be in an a/v closet with other gear

    Switch question

problems with first one are that 1. not enough ports. 5 cams plus 2 access points plus dvr and link to router is 9, that one only has 8. 2. no gb ports for dvr or link to router. Isnt it always better to link to router and dvr through gb ports?

    Switch question

nice. thanks guys.... now this is the switch i originally planned to use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833218022 then decided on this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122077&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Network+-+Switches-_-Netgear+Inc.-_-33122077 mainly because of more poe headroom, and because the 2nd switch has 2 gb uplink ports. Do you think this is a good decision or am I going overboard...?

  15. Here is the scenario.... Going to be putting in a 2 separate systems at one residence, one based off main house and another off of garage/guest house. I have internet at both, upload speeds around 30mbps. system 1 at house will have aver hybrid 1008h dvr, 4 analog cams and 3x 1.3mp cams. system 2 will have aver hybrid 1004h, 1 analog cam and 3x 1.3 mp cams i was planning on putting in netgear poe 10/100/1000 switches, http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-ProSafe-GS108P-Ethernet-Switch/dp/B003CNZ9WG since i cant really find a 5 port poe gigabit switch that fits the budget for system2, i need to know if i can use 10/100 poe switch for that system without sacrificing anything? Please explain... Thanks

    CNB WDR or not

looking at the dbb-24vf (blue-i chip, xwdr with back light compensation) vs. the LBM-24vf (monalisa chip, infrared with intelligent ir, with SUPER backlight compensation) 1. what do you think pros and cons of these cams are...opinions? 2. is SUPER blc better than blc or is it hype? 3. does super blc take the place of xwdr? 4. they both say tdn but it says ICR(AGC type), what is agc type? is it different than a mechanical cut filter? thanks for the help... Am i splitting hairs with these 2 cams?

    CNB WDR or not

The wdr doesnt concern me as much as its not a true d/n...so im not sure of image quality

    CNB WDR or not

10-4....just emailed my supplier he said he like the DBB-24VF better than both of the other 2 but i just looked at it, it's not a true d/n but rather ICR(AGC type)....what does that mean?

    Quick question about switches

Lol..... That is something i know, but you're the first to come out and say it. I just like to eliminate as many potential hassles as i can before they become a problem.... What do you think about that switch? Im asking because my supplier said they had problems with those, of course he was trying to sell me something more expensive... If you can briefly explain to me how i know what a good backplane is and where to look in the specs ill take it from there.... Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day...teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime

    Quick question about switches

What do you guys think about this switch? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156229&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Network+-+Switches-_-Trendnet-_-33156229 Thinking of getting2 of them...1 will have 2 tcm-1231 and the other will have 3 tcm-1232.... enough backplane?
  23. That is great info....maybe saving some hassles for me...Thanks
  24. When connecting ip cams to the nano , or actually to a switch first and then to the nano, do the cams have to be "programmed" like they would if they were a standalone ip cam....or once they are connected to the nano is it like connecting an analog cam to a regular analog dvr? About to do first ip system, just want to cover all the bases, thanks
  25. Silly question...I have only seen pics of this camera, and I see both white and silver...can anyone confirm which color it actually is? Thanks
