  1. yes i messed up on that camera, but not gonna use it as not supported by aver hybrid.....

good idea with the motion lights....

fyi the burglary took place at 3 in the afternoon...

I prefer not using domes, just my preferance...but will incorporate his 3 domes into new system...i'm thinking 2 or 3 ip cams and 3 or 4 analog...want to get to around 8 cams.....He hasnt decided on bullet style or box style in an enclosure....so I think I will be looking at vivotek cams, I can get them easily and at my dealer cost....the features i need are

    night visibility

    poe

    varifocal

    good clear images

    little to none motion blur

for ip want to be at 1.3 mp

so can anyone recommend analog and ip box cams for this...

any opinions on vivotek box cams and bullet cams?

Im in ny, not too cold this winter but could get down to 10-15 degrees once in a while.....would like to use (if he goes with enclosure) one that has poe for heater blower and camera

How does the aver eh1008h perform with 2-3 ip 1.3 mp cams and the rest analog?

  2. Guys, my experience is analog all in one cams, so couple questions regarding ip cams and enclosures...

    1. Is one better over the other regarding all in one ip cam (bullet) or a box ip cam in enclosure?

I have a client was burglarized and had 3 analog dome cams. He now wants to put more cams in and the more obvious the better, so I am thinking box cam in an enclosure.

    2. Do all box cams fit in enclosures or does it matter what encloseure I put it in?

    3. i'm assuming it should have heater and blower?

    4. What about nighttime, if I put ir illuminator will the ip cam see ir for good night video?

    5. Do I need to worry about motion blur?

What do you think about the geovision GV-BX110D?

    http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/Prod_GVIPCAMH264.asp

It actually has ir built in and looks like it comes with either fixed or varifocal lens and has good specs otherwise?

It's POE, 1.3mp (which i'd like to be at, not more)

I'm thinking this one because I can get a good price and it would fit the bill, but i'd like to hear of real experience with it...

  3. i never mentioned anything about remote viewing.

So it is not in remote live view where there is a problem

live and remote are two different things.

This is what you said " from the unit (monitor) 4 cameras are fine. but say you install in a gas station and you have a problem and its covered by 5-or 7 cameras. when you hit playback it is slow "

So according to that I took it to mean 'playback' as you said....especially since you said when you have a problem and want to playback....which is recorded video, not live video. Live video can mean on site live viewing or remotely live viewing, the difference in viewing is either live or playback, not onsite/offsite....

thanks, already tried that...says 'might take a few minutes to download' but never does just freezes

that message means you have not used the ipad app. you have called up the webviewer. (you cant run that on iphone or pad.

so i have the aver iviewer app, are you saying there is more than 1 app?

the iviewer app works, but images are ass. I dont know if it's low qual cams or if it's the dvr but I could never use it to show anyone

  4. Tom, I just reread this post. So it is not in remote live view where there is a problem,

remote viewing is away from the unit (over network) and you will not get 7.5 fps

from the unit (monitor) 4 cameras are fine. but say you install in a gas station and you have a problem and its covered by 5-or 7 cameras. when you hit playback it is slow.

the system is fine for home use but not for commercial use

Yes I get all that..I tend to take literal ward is written word for word....you said the word "playback" so I took it to mean there was the problem during playback, not live view, either local or remote

  5. its brand new on the market started out as an 8 way. it has the same process power as the 4 and 8 nano which is not enough for it to be 16 way.

show 1 screen on playback or even 4 its fine go 8 or 16 then you may as well go make a coffee so as you have something to do while it tries to sort its self out.

i have been an aver installer for 8 years and this is the first time i will talk anyone out of using 1. and i will tell you also that aver knows of the problem i think you will see it replaced soon .

Tom, I just reread this post. So it is not in remote live view where there is a problem, only playback? I could live with that if the unit allows you to choose if you want to run 4 cmera playback instead of 8 or 16?

  6. ok, tried it with "/mobile" which wasnt listed before...it connects and works, but kinda crappy...definitely dont like the handyviewer

zohan. you need to load the aver app first for ipad or iphone the ip with mobile at the end is just a static test and has nothing to do with remote viewing.

if you load and run the aver app then you will see a big differance.

ok, yes i did that earlier...bad resolution on the images....not a good demo...

nano 16 @7.5fps is only on single camera display go 4 8 or 16 camera display and you will see the problems

are you saying it's worse than other dvrs at 7.5 fps, or is it worse because most 16 channel dvrs would have more fps, typically a 4 or even 8 channel would have 7.5 /channel and when displaying all channels on screen not a big deal but when displaying 16 channels at once is what causes it to bog down?

  7. thanks, already tried that...says 'might take a few minutes to download' but never does just freezes

sorry i thought you wanted a iphone demo ...... nothing wrong with the link test http://live.dss.com.tw/mobile

the nano 16 is just a nano 8 with extra cameras low fps playback

7.5 fps is too low for resi?

ok, tried it with "/mobile" which wasnt listed before...it connects and works, but kinda crappy...definitely dont like the handyviewer

  8. this is just for general comparison for an appt i have on tuesday.....

i really am thinking im going towards aver hybrids...for budget jobs i like how small the nano units are i can hide them in a structured wiring can....i like the rackmount units also....i want to replace my current dvr with one so i can show clients side by side comparison analog or mp.

    2 problems right now though

    1. TS just informed me mp cams do not look good through their app. ??

    2. sound i think it was you that said the 1116 nano has problems...can u let me in on that, pm me if you feel more comfortable that way...

  9. I was originally going to get the DVR but sourcing in Canada was tough. I decided to go the card route with windows and now I am wondering if I made a mistake. Is there any benefit to the card route over the DVR?

    thanks

if you are talking about the avr. the NV or sa are a little better than the nano 4 . just because a few more little functions the nv/sa have.

the nano is a good little hybrid and reliable and half the cost of a 5000 card. all avers now use the same software so patches and firmware are the same for everything.

if you need more than 8 cameras i would not go for the nano 16 its new and has a few problems so if you need 16 look at the eh6000

what are the problems with the nano 16?

  10. Reply from Jay:

    Hi Ed,

Thanks again for attending the webinar today, and we always love it when people ask questions so please know you were not being a pain in any way.

The section of the manuals you are referring to is in regards to our “Remote Console.” That particular page shows you how you can use remote console on a Windows PC to connect, monitor and even record a remote DVR. The storage path and NAS storage option is for your local Windows PC and it would be a form of redundant recording at a much lower framerate (older EH series 3FPS or less, EH6216 allows up to 15FPS at CIF resolution for remote viewing).

There is unfortunately no option for NAS storage for local DVR recording on the EH Series.

  11. yes they can have live view.

this is from the manual > Enable network storage: Select the Enable network storage check box to send the recorded video in network-attached storage. page 90 of the nano.

    which manual?

on the aver usa site they dont list any 'nano' models....with the word nano at least

    http://www.averusa.com/surveillance/products/overview.asp

"a nas will be much harder to hide than the nano"

not when you consider 1 cat wire to the nas + power vs 1 wire for each camera to the dvr

"another is a E-sata box (raid) install under floor or in wall away from the dvr."

esata has a wired range of only 6'...not worth it in my opinion
