  1. I have one of these

    http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdw4100s-399.html

The major concern is that I am getting periods where the image will freeze then the screen will go black and I will get the message "resource is limited, open video failed"

Tech support was not much help with that one, they say must be something with my network....??

I did a speedtest am am getting 58 mbps down and 34 mbps up.....

The camera is connected to a switch which is then connected to the router. The switch is a cheap ass switch i've been meaning to replace but because everything has been good with it I keep forgetting.

So, I'd like to start speccing these cameras but not if they will have issues dropping out.....

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this.....replace switch? router? both? I dont really have time to replace everything in the chain, doing the trial and error thing. Hoping to find the answer before it comes to that...

By the way, the dropouts average 1 - 3 seconds....the longest one was for about 30 seconds but that hasnt happened again, it's mostly a second or 2, then right back on.

  2. Just put them all in the same group and you will be good. If they are all 192.168.5.xxx or 10.1.10.xxx they will be fine. If youhave half of them one way and half the other... that will not work. If you just want to get the router for ease of setup that is fine too, they are cheap enough. I not recommend using low-end stuff here though because cameras will make it work harder than regular network traffic.

    Great....thank you for the help

  3. Yup, or you could just assign static IP's to the cameras and skip the router entirely.

I will have either 4 or more ip cams, with an nvr and the nvr hooked up to a display for real time viewing.

I thought the router was need to hand out ip's.....So it would still work without the router, just assign ip's to the cams? Then connect to nvr and there would be no issues with the nvr displaying all the cams on the display monitor?

    Thanks

  4. I have a friend that owns a building and rents out the space. The company that rents the space doesnt want anything connected to their network. My friend wants an ip camera system.

I was thinking of a router and switch, but not connecting the router to the network but just using it to hand out ip addresses for the cameras.

I want to confirm this will work, in this self contained system....

    Router >> switch>> cameras

  5. Hi guys....been a while since i posted so its good to be back. I need some experienced guidance....

I need to cover a parking lot with some box cams / lenses / housings.

The lot has sufficient lighting at night. I was thinking of the Samsung scb-2001. It's a day night camera and has some good reviews, and is in the right price range.

Can anyone comment on this camera.

Also, i need to pair a lens to the camera. There are so many out there. Of course, i need to be able to have low light capability and very important to have a great depth of field, i need to see maybe 200 feet with everything in focus, the foreground and the background.

I need suggestions but also have questions.

Can i use a 1/2" lens as opposed to a 1/3", will it give me greater depth of field?

The Box cam says true day night with icr, im looking for a day night varifocal lens correct? Will that setup let it work with or without infrared?

Just curious on that last one dont plan on using ir because the lot has lighting.

Any tips or suggestions appreciated, thanks

  6. Thanks matt....the 'snapshot' feature is a camera symbol in the webviewer (internet explorer) or i can also do it from their program 'remote console'.....Other than that I haven't seen any settings or a different way to do it. Maybe I will give TS a call to double check.

  7. the pics i posted are of taking snapshots first through the web viewer interface and saved to my desktop, then the last one was taken through the remote console and saved to desktop. Then each one uploaded to photobucket and linked.

There are other ways to take snapshots?

  8. that pic looks a little better saved on my desktop before i upload to photobucket and link to it from here....how do i do an export from dvr, i thought thats what i did when i took a snapshot?

Are you sure that cameras in focus??? It should be alot better than what your getting. There seems to be alot of lines in it, interlacing issue, interference?? Maybe just the lines in the deck and railing throwing me off or something. I use photobucket and it doesnt scale my pictures at all...

tomorrow i will go and check it out.....

    it should be better correct?

  9. i know, thought the cnb would be pretty good since a lot of people here say good things.....im a little dissapointed at this point

It SHOULD be a lot better than that. Do you have a still that hasn't been up-scaled?

not really sure how to do that....i just brought up that camera then took a still shot. Do I have to change settings in dvr, it is recording at d1

  10. this is CNB LBM-20S
