Networking through mobile hotspot - Sprint????

In my experience, cellular and "hi speed" telephone internets are inferior in live viewing DVRs. If it's only one camera you want to view with a choppy picture on a smart phone, it's fantastic. I've tried viewing remotely on a wifi-connected smartphone and the speed wasn't a whole lot better either. Smartphones + DVRs = Great for general observation, bad for ninja-speed viewing/playback. We just have to wait for cellular technology to catch up.
  2. Speco has a nice CMS software. You can combine local or remote, but it is stand-alone software and not web-based. I have also seen what you are talking about done over Remote Desktop Software.
  3. I am also struggling with this problem but with a different brand DVR and software. I haven't found a solution but I have found some great sites to help find out if ports are open, bandwith speed, etc. I use them all the time at work. Here they are: http://www.ping.eu (VERY useful muti-tool site) http://www.speedtest.net (You probably already knew about this one) ...and yea, they're free.
