hi again
my friend who has the camera set up asked me today if i could set his system up to his network where the cameras are
and view the cameras from home (not controll them just view)
i have watched a couple of youtube vids on how to do this
but would like to know ho his setup will have to be
if he only has the Rs485 into the keyboard controller and not in the dvr
would he still be able to view his cameras from home and not control them
and is it just a matter of inserting the ethernet cable into the dvr
then following the youtube video setups
cheers

hi
this setup is my friends and are already fitted
they are on his building
he paid £3000 for it all inc instalation
the wiring between cam 1 and 2 must be correct as it
has been working fine up untill a few months ago when they had a power cut and both of the ptz cameras stoped working
and someone pulled the RS485 wires out off the joypad keyboard
so i am trying to get them working again
i got 1 camera working just not the other one
i figured out the RS485 wires in the joypad and put the correct address e.c.t into the joypad but never rebooted the cameras
will let you know how i get on on saturday
thanks for your help
cheers

hi cctvmann
there are 2 ptz cameras not sure what make
1 works perfect so the RS485 + and - must be ok
no i didnt reboot the cameras after programing the keyboard
and yes i changed the keyboard to 002 camera 2 then back to camera 1 which works ok
does camera 2 need to be into the dvr in no 2
im back there sat so i wil reboot before i try anything els
do i just switch the 12v power to the cameras off and then on again? and does the + and - have power going through it?
also 1 last question if you dont mind
im very interested in getting to know how to do new stuf
but im a very slow leaner at some things
can you tell me if im right on how it all conects together
as i might get a camera setup for my self
first if i get just a dvr and 2 ptz cameras
the 2 cameras have 12v power to them then coax cable and 2 wires to them in a daisy chain for the rS485 to the dvr
and on the back of the dvr the coax cables, 2 RS485 wires and power for the dvr
then in goes the monitor or tv
and the cameras have dip switches which can be changed to change the address and protocol and board rate
which then must be matched in the dvr settings for ptz camera 1 and 2
and then if using a keyboard the RS485 can just go into that and then input the camera settings into that
cheers

Thankyou very much for you reply
would you know what would be the cause of one of the 2 ptz cameras to not move with the joypad keyboard and have the settings (protocol board rate address)on that camera screen (it works just wont move and has info on the screen)
camera 1 was set and stored in keyboard controller as 001 address board rate 4800
and protocol pelco D
and camera 2 was 002 address 4800 and pelco D
but camera 002 wont move when selected in the joypad

my friend is running a G3 Lite Keyboard controller for 2 PTZ Cameras
the dvr has no RS485 connected
just the RS485 onto G3 Lite Keyboard for PTZ Cameras
am i right in thinking that i only need to set the protocol board rate and camera address on the G3 Lite Keyboard for PTZ Cameras
and not in the dvr
thanks

hi
im new to cctv yesterday (but did lots of reading last night about entering protocol settings and board rate and adress e.c.t
a friend of mine has an apollo lite 8 and a keyboard joypad controller
this on below
there are 4 cameras 2 are ptz ones 001 and 002
all 4 cameras show the display outside perfect
but 1 of the ptz cameras 002 doesnt move with the keyboard controller
and on the display monitor it has lots of writing on the screen
like the protocol adress and board rate e.c.t
the ptz camera has displayed this since they had a power cut
and to make things worse the wires fron the keyboard controller got riped out
i read about the RS485 and got the info that it uses 2 wires to the RS485 + and - on the keyboard controller
there were 3 wires that had the coating stripped off yellow blue and white
i got the 001 camera to work by conecting the blue and yellow and left the white wire out
(not sure if it has to do with the problem with the 002 camera not moving)
i have read about inputing the protocol settings and adress and board rate e.c.t
and managed to get 001 camera working ok but not 002
any help please
