    Question regarding IP MP.

Thanks for the Info guys. 2MP will be leaps and bounds better than the 700tvl box camera I have now. It's okay, of course doing better at night but it's just not enough to ID someone walking in it's fov... I use a 2.8 manual lens for wide coverage currently. Also have a 4mm manual and a 5-100 auto lens. Honestly at this point I think going hybrid would simply hold me back. After having analog, and seeing what a $200 2mp dome comparison the difference is incredible... The Shape of my home is odd, Lot's of changes of direction as it's a old historical home from the early 1900s.... I'm not going to get into that because this section is for cameras. So I'll continue my discussion on those regards. I have A LOT of research to do on NVR's. Edit: Looks like the Dahua DH-IPC-HDB3200C - 2MP OUTDOOR Dome IP Security Camera - 1080p is pretty good for being $170....Obv bottom line entry level.... I'll have to look into the lux more because i'm not sure 0.05lux is going to be enough. It may, as I have a street light at the corner of my property.... 80ft from where the camera will be located.

    Question regarding IP MP.

Hello, Some may remember my long 14 page thread on analog and how much I was trying to be cheap etc... Anyway, After a 16ch full d1 dvr and a box cam and 4 domes.... I give up. lol So I'm doing tons of research before investing in an IP setup like I should have done.... My question is in regards to IP MP cameras. Is it true that I can use a higher MP cam than two with lower MP? Example: One 4MP IP cam to cover what two 2MP would cover. If I'm not mistaken from my research the high mp you go the wider area is able to be covered. This is of course for my Home DIY setup. My house is nothing like a simple box... So I'm thinking 4 good 2+MP cams for OverViews. And another 4 for detailed shots (entry ways or inside) Again, this thread if just a question if I can use a high MP cam or am I better off just using two 2MP cams. It just seems like a 16ch dvr is SO much more than a 8ch..... Thanks
  5. Just wondering how this camera compared to some of empire security's for the same price. I notice this samsung has a 0.15 lux, while empires have a 0.001 Lux rating. Just curious as to why this samsung would be the better choice. Both having

    Real world cam temps

Blank has a Heated and Faned Enclosure for $28..... I'm sure there are better ones out there. This is just the one I bought... I bought one for my box camera. When you run the power to the camera, it first is wired into the enclosure for the fan/heat. Then comes from that unit to the camera itself. All inside the enclosure.... Sorry, Forgot I can't link website etc... I'll send you a message.... You would think these stand out, But since installing mine in the spring no one has noticed unless I point it out. Family, Neighbors etc and I even have cctv signs....

    Residential Peace Of Mind Design

One issue with where you want to put your driveway alarms. What if someone just walks down your neighbors (Or your neighbor) and hops over the fence.... I'd want the truck covered all around. I don't think I saw an actual dollar amount for your budget. Let me tell you, If you can start out IP MP over analog please do. I went analog, Box cameras etc... and regret it wishing I had just went IP MP. You can obtain a 2MP IP camera for $250. Really makes the difference. Of course that is the cheap range. But... It's better than any Box camera.

Designing system for my home. ( Looking for help etc... )

An Update I guess you could say. There is simply absolutely no comparison between analog and IP. MP IP of course is better, but just having POE on an IP cam makes things easy/nice. I'm thinking about parting with my analog system and working on an IP system. Just having POE alone would make me happy.... Running extra wires for power sucks. lol..... I don't know why I bought a 16 Ch D1 DVR, an NVR maybe, because I can always slowly upgrade. Anyway, a Nice 16Ch Full D1 dvr may be up for sale soon.

500 mtr Night time surveillance system

F/Stop F/Stop meaning the amount of light that the lens is able to take in. The lower the f/ the better, or brighter night time is.

How much would it cost me to go IP from Analog?

Remember vandel dones are only as good as their mounting. While the camera may be protected from a baseball bat, if its small simple screws it's useless if it goes flying across the parking lot. Lag bolts through to the intr or other side of the block/wall will ensure the camera and mount wont go anywhere. Also this time it was just some trash, god forbid he came back with bricks and friends to take whats inside that $5,000 seems like chump change. If hes not caught he can continue repeating damage etc.... Myself, Two good Ip cameras outside and one good ip cam inside at min to cover and obtain facial recognition.
  11. I don't think I ever posted here. Here is a box camera I have. It's a 700tvl. It's got a wide lens on it and the guys picking up brush are 80ft on the close end and 200ft on the far end so I wasn't expecting super detail, But it does a good job as an Overview setup. HBQQ75aqjYg

    Neighbor protests cameras

Put them back up! The Only reason they dont want them if because they are doing something they know they shouldnt. Maybe it will cause them to move. Which would be good for you. If I was you I would install a commercial box camera and enclosure. After installing mine I realized a street light 80ft and 200ft away was enough to light up my yard and no need for IR. Neighbors will come to you when their house is broken into or car and ask if your cameras caught anything. I've already had to show the cops my system when someone took something from my yard, They were surprised and said they wish every house had a system. PS: I'm in a Historical Society Zoning and no ones mentioned anything to me. It's amazing how people don't notice my commerical box and enclosure. Even family members after many visits.... It's right on the corner of the house...

Designing system for my home. ( Looking for help etc... )

Hey there, Sorry I've been gone for awhile, Months! I've been assisting my fiance' in planning a wedding(Two Months!), working an additional side job and trying to focus on my Photography business so I just have not had the time. I have the dvr, box camera and housing. I purchased 4 cheap dome cameras I'm hoping to install tomm after I finish building my fence. I need to purchase a converter so I can bring down the house 220v to what the dome cameras need to run. Question if anyone knows. Am I able to use the converter for more than one camera? I have the box camera on a converter, can I split off of it to power the other 4 domes or do I need to purchase a unit to do that. (Which I think is the case. I need battery backup anyway) Updates tomm!

    My home surveillance setup

Not that it's a big concern, But remember you can pick up some paint to match your stucco and just paint the cable line if you're running it to the 2nd story so it will blend in and you won't notice it rly... It'd just be a nit picky thing on the side to worry about later. But don't let a cable being run alter your possibility in getting a good position for your cameras... You can always pull the lines and systems to sell the home, thats nothing..... you'll want that good camera shot first. Just a small side note.

Thanks ^^ More to come! Question: Will using a dedicated TV Coax Cable give a better image than the premade BNC Line? I was just going to use TV Coax for my Video, and power into whatevers closest. But saw the premade bnc lines.... This is for Dome cameras btw....

Well those were for 100% Example only. lol If you're looking at the CNB VM-24VF as has been linked a few times. Here are some video samples of that camera. skip to about 7min to get samples of people infront of the camera..... 3S-e12FmVAk Night test e3tdbZAGOFc Heres my Box camera durring the daytime. Well, I have the Dahua 700tvl box camera with a 2.8 f1.2 and enclosure. I must say, it's amazing what a decent camera will do. I'll post up some night shots tomm night when I'm home. No IR and just street lights light up everything. BTW, Heres some snaps of your home. I removed the address etc... If you want me to remove them let me know. I just thought I'd help ya out. I also drew some Examples of how you could open them in paint and draw out your plans.... example of what youi could do in "Paint"

Yeah, Go ahead and remove that pic. I'm not being creepy but I saved some Bing shots that are alot better to use for mapping out your security system. I'll upload em in an hr. Gotta eat dinner. lol Once on bing hit Arial view.

also a good idea to open up the photo in microsoft paint and blur out your address, in the middle and at the bottom corner of the screenshot.
