  1. Hi Dahua usually have 3 different firmware for each unit. From memory they have Firmware Support Push Notification, Firmware for SIP, Firmware for VTMS Management Center software.

You need to find the firmware for push notification. I use to have it and if I find it I will post it.

Also if you want to play around with VTMS then message me.

Their is also some settings in the unit that you need to setup to make the VTO see the mobile as VTH. Once again I will try to find the documentation on how to set it up. Its been a while since I played with Dahua.

  2. Hi guys

Have a look at this site zeecure.com/reports/bullet-camera-shoot-out it compares many bullet cameras with videos that you can download.

All cameras are compared in control environment. I compared the videos quality of the images that you can download once a member (free membership) and didn't take the features into consideration and Avigilon picture wasn't outstanding when you compared the cost to picture quality. I am only commenting on what you see and not taking the extra cost you pay for branding and support. I was expecting for Avigilon bullet to blow the rest away.

  3. thank u all for your suggestions,

i like this one, from costco,

http://www.costco.com/Swann-1080p-2-Pack-HD-NVR-IP-Bullet-Cameras.product.100039914.html#BVRRWidgetIDand ideal for me to start, my question is

    1. can i buy separate NVR (500gb) and connect it with these cameras and then use them?

    2. can i just buy the NVR software and not buy NVR to record from camera to the PC?

    3. This item is available in US only and they can't ship in Australia, so anyone have idea how i can get one shipped to Australia?

    Thanks heaps.

    Hi burglar22

If Cosco ships to USA address then use http://www.shipito.com/ they will give you a USA address or registering and their shipping cost are low.

If the total import cost including shipping to Australia is less then $1000AU then you will not be charge nothing on top. But if it is over $1000AU you will incur a 10% duty.

And for the cameras any camera performs well during good light conditions its the low light conditions that separate the brands. But for what you are after I would recommend Dahua what ever brand its sold under or HKvision both are sold at Cosco. Or one better Acti cameras.

Have a look at http://www.NetworkCameraCritic.com buellwinkle site.

  4. Can I suggest a few points....

1, Run the ethernet cable back to a central secure point, run more cables than you actually need for each run, you will find that from point to point you can easily run 4 as you can 1.

2, Do not run anything less than IP camera's, it just does not make sense to fight with old Tech anymore.

3, stop stressing about licence plate camera's, they are nothing fancy, the only thing about them honestly is where they are aimed, plenty of $200 camera's these days have vari-focal lenses which you can zoom in on an area and grab that specific area.

    4, don't go for anything less than 1080p/3pm camera's

5, go a PC for your DVR, it means you can upgrade it and repair it cheaply as required.

for the Camera's quite a few people on here like the Dahua. I personally like the IPQ2322x, do a google and you'll find them for $200, they even do night vision and have a nice image.

for the switch, you 100% want a PoE switch, you have two options, either a PoE or PoE+ I prefer PoE+ for future proofing (it allows the devices hanging off your switch to draw up to 25/30w) if you get a managed one (more expensive) it lets you log in and reset a camera without having to go and unplug the cable (so if you have a VPN from your home to your work, you can do this remotely)

for the software there are plenty of options, I've quite liked Milestone from the day I got it rolling, now we have 3 sites running it, there is a free version for up to 8 camera's however it's limited to no NAS access and only 5 days of footage (and a few other things)

MR2 can you post some day and night picture of IPQ2322x

  5. So how this work with you? Say someone contacts you via PM for pricing. Do you fly out to them if they do not live in PA? Do you just ship them the camera(s)? Do you connect them to someone that is local to them?

I sure he's covered up with work in his own back yard like we are. To many Hospitals, Universities, Local, State, and Federal Government projects to deal with "Joe" from Chicago that wants a 1mp dome on his front porch to see if the neighbors dog is peeing on his grass.

Smith is right. 99% of the requests that I get on this forum are for small 1-4 camera systems. This is not my target customer base nor is it Avigilon's. Also rememember this is mostly a DYI forum so customers want product that they can install themselves.

    Hi thewireguys

I don't think a DIY would be contacting you about 1-4 cameras that cost around $1000 each. I think most DIY go for Dahua or lower brand cameras. And why wouldn't a fellow board member help other member out.

Personally I would help anyone out who contact myself. That's what forums are about, giving advice and helping others in the same field or industry.

  6. I was going to stock them for future installations but I have hit an dead end.

What cameras do you stock now? What is the total value of your current inventory of cameras? I don't know any installer who stocks cameras in the $1,000 range for future installations.

    Best,

    Christopher

    Hi Christopher

I own a CCTV & Automation Company I have 5 fulltime CCTV techs not counting Automation tech and Contractors. 30% off our work is new installations and 70% is contractual maintenance of petrochemical industry and road traffic authority monitored road network. I keep around $5k in each vehicle of spares and over $50k in the depot. I don't know any PTZ outdoor dome that we stock that is cheaper than $2.5k. And if I relied for one of my tech to drive 1hr each way to a distributor I would go broke. We operate 24hr service all year round. And income tax that I pay for the workers in Australia is average 37% and up to 45% so time wasted is just money that goes to the Tax collectors.

So whatever we service or install we keep 10% spares or more.

    Thanks Peter

  7. I totally agree with you anthonywebb I have sent out many email inquiries to the national distributor of Avigilon in Australia without a single replay.

I have contacted member on this forum with the same out come.

I was looking to purchase one sample unit so I can evaluate and if they were as good as some people on this forum say their are

I was going to stock them for future installations but I have hit an dead end.
