  1. The camera you showed doesn't appear to have ir Is it possible to supply power right at the camera for testing.
  2. Yeah, as long as they're the same jack size as what's on the camera. A lot of cameras come with those same ones and I've also bought similar ones before when cameras were missing them.
  3. To me 1150mA is low That's 1.5amps Power supplies are cheap enough that I'd go with a 4 amp Try running the one at night and see how it goes. 20 meters of cable shouldn't give an issue as long as its the proper cable and its run properly

    4 wireless camera?

Links to the equipment may help here. Assuming you're talking about 4 wireless analog cameras. They could be wireless cameras each with a little receiver by the dvr or they could be standard analog cameras with wireless transmitters going back to a 4 input receiver. Be careful with 2.4ghz because alot of stuff works in that frequency including wifi. Is it possible to find what you want in 5.8ghz or can you go standard wired?

poe voltage on cctv ip66 gw-1337ip camera

I don't believe that's true. Many injectors provide 48vdc out as well as any Poe switch I have ever used.
  6. I wouldn't worry about that length so much as long as its proper 18 awg power conductors. That power supply however is a little chinsy. Try running just the front camera on it and see what happens You'd be better off with a bigger power supply
  7. Yes, that right there, Things like bait cars and blatant setups are kinda crappy
  8. The clicking noise is the ir cut filter dropping out which is proper. What's the amperage rating of the power supply

poe voltage on cctv ip66 gw-1337ip camera

if the cameras poe, it shouldn't hurt although I'm not sure the camera would actually work on 24 if its meant for 48. The 12 volt power you're takking about, isn't that just if you're using the power jack?
  10. Are you sure there is no reset button. Sometimes they are just small pinholes that you need to stick a paperclip into.
  11. If you had them installed professionally, you should have them come and look. Are they ir night vision cameras? Are they installed outside or are they viewing through glass windows ?
  12. You can also use a wifi bridge to put it on the wifi. http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=1002457&pid=1218207316028
  13. Do you have enough time to get into the maintenance menu and perform a factory reboot?
  14. Try 192.168.xxx.xxx:yy yy being the port number Just typing in the ip will automatically send it to port 80 but you may have changed that. Edit: oops I just re-read and saw you already tried that. You can always factory reboot and trace back your steps
  15. I don't think it would hurt to do it. I usually wrap connections if even to just keep them tightly connected

New to this business of CCTV

You can really do it however works for you but it depends on how you wanna run it. Will it be a side business? I do my business on a side, I typically get my equipment through my account at ADI as well as through a couple if other supply houses. ADI offers a nice catalog without prices, so if a customer wants to see it, I can offer it. I get some stuff online if needed, usually just smaller incidentals such as switches, accessories and what not. Reselling stuff that you bought from an online retailer can be tough because if you're paying full price, there may be no room for markup. Also you wanna make sure that you're supported by your supplier. I like ADI because if the support. If something fails, I can get it swapped out fairly easy. Be aware that with some online sources, this may not be the case. I sometimes find stuff cheaper online and if they are an authorized seller, I can take that price to ADI and they match it for me. I'm also lucky enough to now have a wholesale supplier of Dahua and Hikvision local to me which I feel helps me to better sell ip cameras to residential customers. I have also done installs for people who bought the camera system packages from Costco, etc. I just make sure they understand up front that I'm only installing and not supporting the product when it comes to warranty and what not. What I like about that is that its all billable and I don't look like a goof when something fails quickly.

    NVR's and SWANN CCTV

According to most here, Swann is rebranded Hikvision but I believe some Swann equipment is OEM'd by others as well.

    Local network issue.

Just a couple of thoughts, Maybe your pc and dvr were accidentally set to the same IP address. Or maybe you were trying to connect to the dvr through its ddns URL and the router doesn't support NAT Loopback. What steps did you take in trying to connect.
  21. VideoInsight is also very good. You can get it preinstalled on a PC also if needed.
  22. Boy, there seems to be a lot of love for bird house cams on this forum.

    Hi Broken Man Here

Welcome aboard jon, Sorry to hear about your leg. At least it sounds like you got plans for the time your laid up.
  25. There will be a big difference between 800tvl analog and high def MP IP cameras. Cat 5e cabling would definitely be used if you go with ip cams and its possible to use with analogs such as your 800tvl cams but many time it's cheap baluns on the analog setup that hurts the picture quality. Another note: Your trying to use the IR lighting through windows to view outside at night? It's not gonna work right. For one thing, it's possible to get reflection back from the ir light and basically blind your camera. Beside that, if you don't get the reflection back, your still not gonna see through the window well. Stand in your kitchen at night with the light on in the room. What do you see out the window? Nothing right?turn off the light so the room is dark, now you can see outside. It's the same way for the camera with the ir light on.
