  1. is there any other software that supports verint hardware something like luxriot.
  2. Hi, has anyone had much to do with the verint's s2600e ip camera series? I have set one up using dc iris lens and the picture is way to bright, there doesn't seem to be any adjustments on the back of the camera for light levels. I can only asume its done via software. any info will be very much appreciated.

yeah i was thinking same. i did a bit digging around on the embedded os there is no actvation key required for it. apparently when the unit first boots it takes the system resources and activates the os. i think it would be more locked to the main board then hdd, the pdr16pc had a 160gb ide and i was tring to replace it with a 500gb so it may have something to do with the volume. i could't find any white papers to prove this thou.

Sounds plausible and it does answer a few questions. I can only assume this is xp embedded issue.Surly it can be update pc hdd's go all the time.

I had xp embedded 16ch version let go a month or so ago, ran sea tools on the drive. it was riddled with bad sectors. the only thing i dont like but im not sure if it was to do with xp embedded is of i created an exact image of the drive to replace the dead the system wouldnt boot. my question is what would stop this from booting and what would be the work around? i think its the 4016 on the idis site its re badge in aus as a pdr16 pc. part from this hick up the unit is pretty stable
  6. Hi everyone, on a previous topic I created about IP cameras moved very forwardly around the network infrastructure and limitations of certain networks and system design flaws. Being only a newbie to the game I was hoping some of the elite network administrators around would share the do's and don’ts. If we could start with terminology, standards, network traffic, tools to invoke and test a network. Also the bench mark to set up for a redundant system for single and multiple sites. It would be tops if we could keep it at a straight technically level so everyone can benefit. Many thanks

i havent tried telco before, i reckon it would be painfull at times. ip really shines when it comes to off site monitoring, would you use multicast stream or unicast for RF link? if you had the money a fiber link would fix everthing but way to expensive to lease it off the telco

not a big fan of telco and RF links very narrow bandwidth paths, some sort of store and forward path would be they way to go. i thought pelco had something like that in the endura system, when it loses the server. havent done any work with the endura thou.

And when the Internet goes down ...? Thats true, you would probably achive the task but may have to setup a redundancy. depending on the cost you could place an archiver on the each site configured through some sort of active dirctory domain clone. any ideas? im not an it tech but love to work out logic and worst case Scenarios.

    IP Cameras at a Glance

Hi everyone, I have been away for a while. I see i have opened a Controversial topic. I agree we have to pic our cameras by application and cost, at the present time we are still supply anlouge cameras to dvrs or digital encoders such as dvtel. for the old spot monitor we usually use an ip decoder and bung them into a switch or quad, expensive but flexable. This particular installation will need to view a comerical yard with high trafic areas. We have used the Arecont range before due to the dvtel interface. what something day night high frames. I guess some of the questions i want to cover in this thread are: mega pixel what is prefered as the best in image sensor cmos vs ccd? The Arecont range uses cmos with a jpeg format i would have thought the jpeg would be undesirable compared to mpeg4, what would there benefits be jpeg vs meg4? or any higher format. i am a newbe to the ip range but im not worried at all, the technolgy provides functionality which i love intergration between different service intercoms and alarms an access control. you wouldn't find the average corner store spending heaps of dough on ip cameras but when ip comes competive to an analogue price the will change there mind quickly. I have seen avermedia produce a hybrid dvr, does anyone have any input on hybrid systems? Guys n Gals don't taken it the wrong way but i would like to keep this thread more technical than by products, some comparisons will be good but no preaching. cheers everyone
  11. hi i have been looking for an ideal ip soultion for our clients. we currently run with dvtel architecture which seems to be pretty good. Im looking for the best possible options for ip cameras i have looked a few but unsure at their stand in the industry. such as Arecont, Axis, Avigilon The solution i am looking for is a great migapixel camera over 3meg at full frame (closest 30fps) at good flexiable compression. i have seen that Mpeg4 seems to be the go in the standards. suggestions on the best gear to use at a very high level will be very much appreciated.

Does anyone know where to get drivers for their capture cards
  14. Hi everyone i am thinking of starting using dvtel ip encoders/decoders for my site. Im wanting to get some history and advice on their gear. do dvtel make all their products or do the rebagde them like other people in the industry. what would there performance be rated compared to pelco's ip range. many thanks
