My Swann NVR died due to an electrical storm. Assuming the 10 poe 1080 cameras are okay. I don't want to replace these. Don't know if there is a way to test them, without a NVR. I would like to add 3-4 cameras at the driveway gate and shed, which is 500-600 feet away. I can bury cables if I need too. What do I need to buy? I am willing to spend the money for a good system

My NVR got smoked from a power surge. So I am looking to purchase a new one that can run my poe cameras and cameras 600' away. What should I get?
-
Slowly I am starting to get it. But from what I can find CVI is coax. I don't mind getting a different NVR or is it a DVR? as long as I can use my Swann cameras. I would also like better hardware as I have not been able to watch the system remotely.
-
I will have 120v power at the gate, where the cameras will be. Is there a device I can add at the end, for the additional power requirement?
-
I want to locate 2-4 cameras at the driveway gate about 600' from the NVR in the house. I can trench in some underground CAT 5s in conduit to there, but what else do I need to do and get.

I have a Swann NVR with 10 Swann cameras. Two cameras have been going offline then a few hours later, back on. What's up?
-
I bought a Swann ip system there, added two cameras. Plug and play, and could not have been easier. Focusing the vari-focus cameras was the hardest part, and that was no problem.
My concern is that that when I want to expand Costco doesn't have the add on cameras.
-
Is Costco going to quit carrying Swann? Their website only has one Swann item.
-
Now I get it. Thank you.
How about changing the clock. I am in the Central time zone, it apparently is not automatic but when I change the time (can only be done at the NVR, as far as I can tell) I hit "apply" and the time does not change.
-
Edit your schedule for those two cameras, change it from "motion" (green colored on mine) to "normal" (blue) for the whole times you want to record constant. You can leave your schedule in place and override it with some "normal" constant recording by using the "Manual Record" main menu button on the NVR.
Or, you can just incorporate the constant recording into your regular schedule under the "Record" main menu button.
I still can't figure it out. I am using SwannViewPlus. From my computer; I pick "Camera Settings", then the little calendar "Schedule". Then there is templates with days and times, but I can't edit or find a way to use the template.
From the NVR I can't find it either.

I want to record all day with a couple cameras. But I can't find how, I know how to by motion detection or always on.

I have a Swann system. The cameras come with a pre made Cat 5 cables and loose connectors that look like they are for wet conditions. one end locks on the female connector on the camera pigtail, but the other end won't slide over the mail cat 5 end. How do I use them? They don't look like you can put them on after the ends are put on.

Can the Swann 3mp vari-focus be wall mounted indoors?
-
Or I could get thesehttp://www.costco.com/Swann-HD-3MP-IP-Vari-Focal-Add-on-Dome-Camera.product.100089445.html
but if they are like the bullet vary focus, they would be tougher to deal with, and more money

I got the following system from Costco, http://www.costco.com/Swann-16-Channel-HD-3MP-NVR-Security-System-with-3TB-HDD%2c-6-1080p-Cameras-and-2-Vari-Focal-Cameras.product.100070310.html
I want to add a couple dome cameras to it. How compatiable are these? http://www.costco.com/Lorex-HD-1080p-IP-Night-Vision-Add-on-Dome-Cameras-2-Pack.product.100043750.html

Hi all, didn't want to start a new thread for my question so I figured I'd ask here.I recently bought this system from costco and installed it myself. Getting the system up and running was a breeze. Hardest part was crawling around in my tiny attic to run the ethernet. The NVR is pretty quiet and sleek looking. Not that it matters since I installed in a closet that I'll be dead bolting in the near future. Also ran a long USB 2.0 cable into the attic that attaches to a backup drive that captures video. Figured this would be a good idea in case someone busted in and stole the NVR.
ANYWAY....
I've managed to get everything working with the exception of the iPhone app. I can remotely access the system via the Swannview Plus Client desktop software and the web based software via the swanndvr.net domain.
The instructions that came with the system made it seem that setup for remote viewing would be much easier than it actually was. Per the instructions, I should be able to just enter my systems "UID" into the software and vua' la', it should work. Even easier with the iPhone app. I'm supposed to just be able to take a pic of the QR Code. When I took the pic, a UID automatically filled the field, so the QR code sticker is working. What I noticed though is that in my system, the UID field is blank where the UID should be. Even if I click the "Send UID" button from the NVR itself, I get a blank email. So I had to do the whole port forwarding thing. Wondering if they just forgot to put the UID into my NVR?
Just wanted to ask around, see if anyone had the same issue. I found another thread that mentioned changing the RTSP port to 5544. Did that, forwarded it and still no luck.
I have an iPhone 4 that's running iOS7 on Verizon. Thanks in advance.
Update, in case anyone has the same issue.
Called Swann, they gave me a link to a firmware upgrade that populated a UID into my system. Tried scanning the QR code to get access on my iPhone and still nothing. Turns out, back when I fist installed the system and was trying to get everything to work, I entered my laptop's MAC address into the "Users" field of the NVR. That made it so that only my laptop could access the system. Once I changed that MAC address back to all 0's (00:00:00:00:00), the iPhone app started working.
Last week I installed my inlaws system and just used the UID to connect everything and I noticed when I access their system, it's much slower than when I access mine. Their system is using UPnP / UID setup while I did the whole port forwarding thing on mine. Accessing both systems remotely, my system is much faster when bringing up the client, switching cameras, etc....
I do have an issue, no UID was sent by email, blank. But maybe it is slower and I shouldn't use a UID, what do you think?

What kind of mic?
Those hikvision domes from Wrightwood are china version and 50 more than aliexpress. Are they the same?
Are the cameras that came in this kit capable of sound?
-
I just got my first system, the Swann from Costco, 16 channel, 6 bullet cameras plus two vari focus.
I need a couple more cameras, for indoors, wide angle with sound. I think dome would be better, can't tell where they are aimed. Which ones?
-
I can't find a Swann ip dome other than the vari focus. What is the model number of one? Is the domes and bullets the same except for the housing?
Can I use Hikvision with this system easily?
-
I just got this system. I need two more cameras. One of which needs to cover a good chunk of a 34'x34' room with a 17' ceiling.
Should I get Swann? I would have to get them somewhere else.
What type should I get for the big room, wide angle, PTZ?
.

So I am about to order this from Costco, but I want three indoor dome cameras. One of which needs to cover a good chunk of a 34'x34' room with a 17' ceiling.
Should I get Swann? I would have to get them somewhere else.
What type should I get for the big room, wide angle, PTZ?

If I need a $230 extender or a PTZ will work without an extender, I might as well get a PTZ. right? How else can I power a PTZ?
But even if I have to get 120v service to the gate 585' away, I could put the $230 towards the service.
-
I want to put in the Cat5e in now for the 600' to gate, before the ground freezes. What kind of cable do I need to use? Conduit?
How does the extender work?
-
No power at the gate, I have to get a separate electrical service, transformer and meter. I won't be doing that until I get a power gate.
Need a new NVR fo Poe cameras and others.
