  1. Well I am enjoying my Hikvision 3mp during the day, at night I am absolutely displeased with how bad the night vision is. Looking at a few posts up with the truck, how did you achieve such a nighttime image? any additional IR boxes. I ran cat 7 and with a core i7 4790 using a software nvr, I still get a lot of pretty bad images at night. Frustrated... again
  2. hi there. Can someone post the user name and pw for the Hikvision FTP, not our cameras
  3. Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. I am just on the tail end of changing out my entire 16 channel/16 cam HD-SDI system with a full Hikvision 3mp cam and 16 channel NVR. Because I do not want to go through another cabling change, I purposely went with Cat7 all the way around. I even have done cat7 from the NVR to my Netgear nighthawk 7000 router which has a gigabit connection. Its for future proofing alone. So I have 13 cameras up right now and with each channel in live view, I am getting a second or two freeze every 10 seconds or so. I have moved the bit rates way down (had them all at 12288 and couldnt even get more than 8 cams up) and now in the 2k range. I am not sure if its a router setting (upnp or Qos) but with the network I have the backbone certainly seems big enough to handle this and with no stutter Its interesting to note, my HD-SDI running at 2mp had zero freeze? Cant figure this out 3mp Hik bullets and 3mp turrets
  4. the Hik NVR I am using has 16 POE built in. I have yet to find a switch that has 16 full POE. Any suggestions for an NVR with enough bandwidth
  5. thank you all for the tips. Its getting better but I am still almost regretting pulling out my HD-SDI system The night time live view is absolutely horrid. I cannot understand why its so bad. And I just looked at the specs. You are correct its limited to 80mbps so in this case, would I be better off getting a 16 port poe and drive it with a computer using a software solution?
  6. and this is happening both with live viewing from the NVR and with remote view. I suspect I need to adjust my router to give priority to the NVR?
  7. Hi there If you get a chance could you check your settings. avs?
  8. DS-7716NI-SP Its happening on both, viewing it via the NVR and also with remote viewing. The bullets are at 30fps and the turrets at 20fps
  9. anyone? Really would appreciate the help The nighttime images are so shockingly poor from these cameras. I have to be doing something wrong
  10. One of my cameras get a LOT of light from a street light about 40 feet away from where one of my cameras is. I cant move the camera so I am wondering is it best to leave it in color mode full time. BW seems to really struggle due to so much light comments

    HD-SDI Trade offs vs IP

Hey all Well I made the jump from D1 to HD-SDI. At first I loved it and now maybe I hate it. First some back story. I was able to procure 16 HD-SDI cameras from a trade group out of China. I they are a combination of bullet and domes, all vari focal from 2.8 to 12mm. Each has 48 ir pieces so should be good for 80 or so feet. I was able to get them for a sample price of $85 for each camera which is certainly a very low price. Along with it, an HD-SDI dvrthat was capable of both live view AND recording @ 30fps. Half my install was done this past week (buddy is a pro installer for 15 years and charges me $20 on the weekend for drinking money) During the install I was immediately taken aback when each camera was lit because of the color and clarity. I mean really impressive. I thought D1 was good well this was great. Then the reality set in. First off, the menus that come with the cameras are not easy to navigate and there is ZERO documentation so its been totally trial and error (and still much on the side of error as its stands right now) second, and this might be the trade off, the night image on this cameras is horrible, to the point my D1's actually look better. so now I am unsure of what to do. I didnt expect them to be 10x times better at night than my D1 but at least marginally better. We have checked all bnc and only used the highest grade wire and connector. Each line tones out with a tester as well. Is this just the limitation of HD-SDI or am I expecting too much. I peek in the IP section from time to time and see a lot of pics with night shots that look WAY better than mine. Frustrated doesn't even start to tell the story. Could adjustment in the menu help? I am open to all ideas and suggestions. love the fast response. I did leave the shutter to auto as once I moved it to other settings the picture got a little wonky. I am curious to see how it looks in daylight hours........ more tinkering !!!!!

    HD-SDI Trade offs vs IP

well I think I made some headway to night. I set up a camera in my office and just played with settings. The NR does help a good amount. I also realize now when you said tight focus. I dial the cameras in night mode to be ever so slightly out of focus (with still looking good) and when the lights come on the focus is almost perfect. I guess thats the trade off.... So the tweaking continues and I am thankful I found you all for help and moral support.... P.S. can we embed pics here with img code?

    HD-SDI Trade offs vs IP

I understand and appreciate your comments. The challenge with these bloody cameras is all the settings are outside at the camera and makes trial and error quite a pain in the butt. I was hoping someone could scan the menu and say stick with these basic settings. Not expecting miracles but I have to believe that the menus are there to dial them in but beyond my level of comprehension. If I could just clean up the night image a little they would be workable. As for the clicking, I believe its the IR reacting to the light and I am going to do a factory reset again. One more question. The Lens has three options, manual, video and dc. Any idea which is best?

yes what I am showing you is a direct feed from the dvr displayed on monitor. Here is the menu system. I started with Lens and worked my way through. I think photobucket uploaded them in reverse order though so the very last picture is actually the first menu to come up and so on I am going to do a link to the library of pictures because there are too many to upload here. http://s1316.photobucket.com/user/galeic1/slideshow/camera%20pics

the menu system shot is from my monitor. I am planning to do a run through of each menu option and sub menus. Principally its the night image that is causing me the most grief. It actually worse looking than my D1 cameras which is a surprise. the image is quite degraded and a lot of noise. Be back with shots of the menu system

I am not noticing any change in the picture when it happens. I am starting to feel its got something to do with the IR's during daylight hours It seems that the clicking is when the IR turns on and off. Still experimenting

    HD-SDI Trade offs vs IP

fortunately (depending on how you look at it) this issue has affected 3 out of my six domes. I tested them all and 3 of the 6 do make that clicking noise. It seems to happen when a person is standing close to the camera. That said, I have 10 bullets that function ok but the night time image is sorely lacking. I think its enough for me to post up the menu system with the hopes of making some improvement. Day time is very good.........night time is where things get messy. Returning isnt an option at this point and all 16 cameras were just under $1500 shipped. It would be an expensive mistake to go through but I am going to remain hopeful that with some expert guidance here I can get them to a reasonable point for night time viewing.

thanks again for all the comments. What I am going to do is document with pics every menu option and setting. Maybe that will help me get out of the woods a little. The camera shot your looking at, the IR is on. I am searching for a previous shot of my swann D1 camera which had a fixed 3.3 lens for comparison.

no fan what so ever. and the odd thing is all the domes do it so there must be some common denominator I am not thinking of. What do you mean by "too strong a focus" I didnt touch anything and did a reset to all of them.

incidentally how many posts are needed so I can embed images. Here is another lovely bi-product of the Chinese cameras.... endless clicking........... oh why me happens with dome on or off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaL5cvWI0KI&feature=c4-overview&list=UUODzke-nasleGtETboV1NqA
