  2. No prob, glad to be of help,

Can you tell what resolution ur using and what codec (mpeg4,h264??)

I always set my clients dvr's to record max res/ best image, because it may lessen your recording time, but the images are far superior at the highest res... More hdd improves recoding time....

  3. uninstall the old version, reinstall the new version, all your settings are saved in a dif file and will just work.

I go thru and double check, and set the new compression settings to all cams.

  4. I must be used to it

I.R Australia do the same with INSIGHT, a software package for connecting to alarm systems to program and run as a front end (user management system).

I have used many many geo cards over 4 + yrs and have never had issue I even have a gv650-8 in my office as gv1000 was over kill I only have 6 cams, it allowed me to u/g to v8.xx

I personally don't see it as an issue, and cant see how v6/ v7 was buggy, works well for loads of sites even still today......

I don't feel there is enough merit in your claim for such a low end card to have to be fully upgradeable to the very latest s/w yrs later, just so you can get the latest features, which many ppl dont even use, but the better codecs I spose would be a benefit going from mpeg4 to h264 even

Ill send a complaint to geo direct if you like on ur behalf, form me a reseller/installer.... Is that OK Scooby?

    cheers

  5. My problem with 8.20 is that I don't think I can run it with my GV-600-8 v3 card due to the copy protection involved.

Does anyone know if Geovision is planning to allow older hardware revisions of the card to be able to run 8.2? I really want to use some of the features of 8.2 on my GV-600 card. I feel cheated that I am not allowed to run this version as I paid a small chunk of change for this card, and most video cards, digitizing cards, computer hardware in general allows you to upgrade to the latest drivers \ software that are available.

This has always been an issue with Geovision and I am wondering if it has changed yet?

I feel short changed because I bought a car and it wont allow me to go to the MOON,

    and..............................

You paid how much for gv600, man I paid 4k wholesale for gv1000 some yrs ago, stop your whining, it only had v7 back then, and........ We upgraded.

  6. In case anyone missed it (I did)

The hybrid system only supports 8 IP cams.

It is therefore not possible to have for example 14 IP cams and 2 analoge

    cams.

So wot are you using for storage, Im waiting in a coupla 1.5 TB hdd's from my supplier, they have been on back order since They came onto the price list

I am installing a shed load of gv1480 systems, but find that because of the limited storage space with on board sata ports, it isn't worth running Ip cams yet,

  7. How longs the run

You'll need a balun at each end for the video,

You might want higher rated cable (prolly multistrand also) for the power,

I wouldn't rely on the cat5 for my power, but all the rest is fine,

double up the power if you really have to - 2 pairs pwr, 1 pair vid, 1 pair ptz/lense...

  8. Ok I have been using geo for long enuf, but the samsung 19" widescreens are what were using now instead of the 17" model,

I have an issue, the other day we built a gv650 and get custom main screen but no video lost which I have designed with business name and contact number...

but in the 1480 one we just built and installed yday we get video lost file to show but No quad screen

is it that because were using the same res that the software is stretching the images to fit the screen?

I copy the modifed files into the same directories as my office DVR that way theres no confusion

    com res and metal style??

    any ideas..

  9. I wouldnt uninstall the s/w

Just power down, d/c the power cable on the back and press the power button couple times to empty the cap,

then open with static resist environment,

Remove the geo card and plac eit in the last slot at the bottom, then power back up, it will just ask for the drivers again.

if you could post full screen shots would be better

screen hunter is a good prog and just change the settings to jpeg instead of bitmap..

I have alot of cameras installed 48 on one site with 3 16 channel gv900 machines, and havent had issues like your describing,

whats the monitor your viewing on??

    lcd / crt???

  10. I believe that No. 1 PCI slot is generally used for video card , and mobo. manufactures sometimes make considerations for this, so it can on occasion cause a problem if the GV. card is in there

Video card is AGP (advanced Graphics Processor??)

Or PCI-E, which is not a std PCI connector, so slot 1 has nothing to do with the video card.....

    I stand to be corrected..

  11. I have used all the cards int he range, been using them primarily as my dvr since 2004..

I would suggest check your power supply, check your cabling and connectors, make sure you don't have interference or induction on the cable.

I use Samsung primarily as my cameras, and know a guy whose primarily used Bosch and has changed to Samsung, cause its the BEST!!!

I haven't had any drama with the cards, as long as the pc is up to spec ( I over spec mine),

I get better recording images off the dvr generally then live view, unless your using the spot monitor on a crt ot tv..

You should be getting good quality @ 680x480 being so small, I havent used that since 2004...

Is this PC dedicated to geovision (dvr), what OS is it running,

Is it legit card, not clone?? Have you checked this..?

Sounds like a dodgy card like I had from hong kong ages ago ( trying to cut corners) I got burnt

  12. Hi there,

I have a gv1480 card in a machine, this site has been played with by staff (24hr service station) and I caught one guy playing with windows directories, once when I remoted in to check on things,

I accidentally went into safe mode and remvoed the keylock prog, and accidentally deleted it? I dont know how but its not in the recycle bin...

I need to relock this dvr from staff access to desktop as last time I attended volume was MUTED, audio input on back was removed and stuff...

So I know they can do what i do to bypass it, but they hopefully wont, Plus I put VOID stickers inside the box this time, so next time I can see the tamper evident proof to show the manager they are tampering, cpu fan connector on mb was bent, and front fan seized..

    cheers in advance

  13. Idea, make a submergable housing to mount the ptz in,

Also I have used some underwater cameras and whilte Hi bright leds are the best for that situation,

Just get a decent low light (colour switchable) ptz and construct a solid clear housing and you have your own, make sure all leads and cable entries are water proof or youll have trouble..

  14. I also, do overspec my power supplies on jobs, if it requires 2 amps I use 5, if it requires 1 amp I use 2...

As long as its regulated power supply youll be ok,

Does not affect the camera unless its rated @ 12vdc and your giving it 13.8, check

Always FUSE your pos + connection @ the power supply, although most p/s's have internal fuse it dont hurt to fuse it, saves a possible fire.....
