  1. Second issue. I am not able to add this camera to this NVR. They are both supposed to be ONVIF. However this NVR only finds the cameras I bought from China. This TrendNet(Hikvision) I got at Fry's does not show up in there even if I manually add it. What could be the issue with this?
  2. Router: Motorola NVG589 (AT&T Uverse)
  3. Well, unfortunately I was not able to assign a different port to this camera. It is lost once it reboots after doing this. But that's OK. I can run it at 80. But as you say I can also forward the NVR. However I have not figured out yet what port to forward for that one. It's purchased from a company called B-QTech in China. It's probably a copy of rebrand of something else. http://www.b-qtech.com/en/index.aspx These are the port settings I have there. Which of these should I forward to the NVR's IP address?
  4. @Boogieman, awesome help! That did it, almost. I disabled upnp and port mapping. So far I have kept it at Port 80 and was able to forward that port to the cameras IP address. The port shows open right away. However I was not able to change the port I forwarded to another one and send to the camera which still has port 80 set. I'm going to try later to change the port in the camera as well which will probably work. I can now view the camera both inside and outside my LAN. So just for my own knowledge - what is UPNP and Port Mapping?
  5. Has anyone ever experienced something similar. I.e. there seems to be no issues with the port forwarding. It's working for other cameras. Only when I try to assign a port to this camera it is failing. The supplier support is telling me what to do which is exactly what I have done and still it is not accepting the new port. I can't even forward the default port successfully even if it works for other cameras. What can be wrong? I am lost!
  6. I have since before 10 different IP cameras both indoors and outdoors. I have them all setup in an internal IP range and the same with the ports and have no issues with forwarding the ports to the IP addresses and viewing them both inside and outside my LAN. I recently bought a new camera (TrendNet TV-IP310PI) and I am unable to change the port and forward it successfully. The camera comes with HTTP port 80 set default. As long as I don't change this I can view it within my LAN. However I am unable to forward the port. My router reports it is closed. If I change the port to the one I want to assign to it and forward I am not able to access the camera even inside my LAN even after rebooting the camera. Just to check the port forwarding I assigned that same port to one of my other cameras as well as changed the port in the camera software and I have no issues. The port shows open and I can access the camera. What can be wrong when I try to setup this new camera? Second issue with this camera is that it is ONVIF compatible but I am not able to see it in my ONVIF compatible NVR, when I have it set as default and working on port 80. Are there different ONVIF standards? The whole reason I got this camera was to be able to add it to the NVR as well. Attached are a couple of images showing what network settings screens look like for this camera.
  7. Is that possible to repair or is it lost?
  8. I have an IP cam which can be switched between WiFi and wired, and it is also POE. I've had it at WiFi for some time but I wanted to connect it to my POE network as I now got all my cat5 cable pulled. I tried it out with a POE splitter some weeks ago and it worked fine. When I connected it to the POE switch now I could not get it to work. When I had it on WiFi I entered the camera setup and turned WiFi off. I then connected the cat5 to the POW splitter and then the splitter to the power and network into the camera. Nothing. I then noticed that the POE splitter got very hot, almost to the point that you could not hold it for a longer time. I disconnected it again. I then connected the power adapter and a cat5 from the network router to the camera. No network connection. The power to the camera is working since the IR is coming on, but the network connection gets no signal at all. What could have happened? Did anything maybe happen to it when the splitter got hot?
  9. Looks like I learned the hard way. So what brands are usually in the following category? - Cheap but still good quality - Fits to view in any mobile app and NVR - Easy to setup with only IP Address, port, user and password.
  10. So what do I need to do to be able to view cameras in that app? I downloaded it but it says I need to connect to a Milestone server? Is there an app/server I need to have running on a PC at home to connect to? I'd like to have a solution where a computer does not have to be on for this to work. Not sure if anyone can clarify the Milestone functionality in more details maybe.
  11. I had two Smarthome Insteon IP cams before. I was using the Android app IP Cam Viewer to access them. I set them up simply with IP address, port, user/pass. I then got some other dome cameras. These cameras I had issues connecting to with the app. After a call with their tech support they helped me setup another app called Smart HD P2P. The cameras needed to be connected to a DDNS server in China (MyEye - dvripc.cn). If I did not do this I was not able to view these cameras on a smartphone. Why is this? They only think they could tell me was - different cameras use different apps. I am also not able to connect to my Smarthome cameras using that Smart HD P2P app. Why can't I setup these cameras without connecting to that Chinese DDNS server? Shouldn't I be able to just connect with the same as above - IP, port, user/pass? Or if this is not possible, why can't I connect to the cameras using IP Cam Viewer by entering the DDNS address etc? I cannot find these cameras in the IP Cam Viewer but I have tried all settings and selecting other cameras which have the same input fields, but nothing works. I do not want to use two different apps for my cameras. The brand of these cameras is B-Qtech. How can I set this up so that I can view all cameras in one app? Is it possible to connect all the cameras to a DVR or NVR and access that from an app maybe? I am only worried now that since the cameras have different access through apps on a cell phone and also on desktop, how am I ever going to be able to connect these to one and only one DVR or NVR? I don't have this yet but will in the future.
  12. Well I do not want to use DDNS so I tool that away now. Still do not work. The port I forward in my router, does that have to be maintained in the cam's interface, or are those ports something else?
  13. Here's another screenshot. Question, why does it say Webserver? Is there any specific settings due it seems to be running some kind of web server?
  14. Here are some screenshots of the settings options in the cam's UI. Can you figure out from this what ports need to be opened? If more than 1, can I also change these ports from within this UI or is that always the same?
  15. I got some IP cameras from eBay from China. The brand is called B-Qtech and model nr is BQ-ND3006-P. I am having major problems getting these accessible outside my firewall. I have tried forwarding different ports but no luck. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? When I access the URL with port from an external computer or cell phone I am able to see the cameras login page. But I cannot login and are also not able to set them up through an Android app to view. What can be wrong?
