  1. Installed an Avermedia EH1004H and love it. There's only one problem so far and I've called Avermedia and the guy never gets back to me so it's either that what I want can't be done or he doesn't know so.... I figure I'll ask here... When wanting to remotely review a certain day/time video via Remote Console is it possible to see all three cameras (all we have att) video at the same time or does it have to be 1 camera at a time? Thanks.
  2. Oh, sorry my query was against the regs, Rory. I'm on so many different messaging forums it's hard to keep track of all the rules.
  3. I'm looking for an inexpensive, but good, 4ch standalone DVR. So far I'm going with the Avermedia SEB3104H unless someone cares to recommend me something better. Anyone know somewhere I can buy one in the USA? Thanks.

Help: Need a new DVR unit

Thanks for the info guys. Rory, do you have a link for Intellicam or for a specific unit(if that's ok with the admin)? I'm not finding much on them. I don't know if it's their site but www.intellicamusa.com isn't working. Thanks.
  5. Hey guys. We've had a Nuvico 4-channel unit for some years in our pizzeria and it finally bit the dust. We're looking to move up to a 6 or 8 channel unit without breaking the bank. The only real need is to access the dvr via www, the channel capacity, and output/backup to USB stick or external hd. We don't need POS, PTZ control, or super-high res video. Is there anything good for around $1k or under or is that just not advisable? Thank you.

    Networking (same old problems?)

Is there something like a "service port" setting in the DVR. Make sure you set that, mine is 7000, and then input that into the monitoring s/w along with the correct IP of the DVR. Is it using a static IP from your network provider? If you're trying to connect a PC directly to the DVR via Ethernet you'll need a crossover Ethernet cable.

    Recommend <$250 b/w indoor cam?

Hey John. I'm trying to get him to go day/night and I think he's seeing the light (pardon pun). Thanks.
  8. My buddy wants a b/w IR camera inside a back room in his business. Looking for at the least a 2.7mm lens and prefer a varifocal for future flexibility if we want to move it. Can anyone recommend a good b/w camera (preferably with lens) for under $250? Thank you.
  9. A little late but I needed to do this today for the first time. On Nuvico's site you can d/l their "DVR Mini Player" off the "Download Software" link. Select the dvr model you have and you should be presented with a list of s/w to d/l. Copy that program onto the CD along with the .CMS video file and anyone can view the file with that program.

    Cameras

I've done about 20 Nuvico domes and a few bullets. Never had a problem with any of them. Picture seems very good for the price.

    Day/Night camera/picture question

Well, turns out it was the reflection off the glare shield. I moved it back, no longer in the FOV, and problem solved. Here's a shot after the adjustment: http://tinyurl.com/2r3d2d Cheers!

    Day/Night camera/picture question

No kidding? Alrighty then, I'll check that out. Thank you.
  13. I still consider myself a greenhorn and this was my first day/night w/IR camera install. I'm not liking this picture and was wondering what, if anything, can be done to improve it. I can't get the pic to show here so please click on this link to see a nighttime capture shot: http://tinyurl.com/2lxmwf and here's a daytime capture: http://tinyurl.com/39eqpf I think pushing the glare hood back a little might help(?). The camera is a Nuvico NVCC-HW3895IR36N-D. Here's a link to its product page: http://tinyurl.com/2vqa2l Any help is really appreciated.

Any tricks to getting a nice focus?

Don't drink caffeinated beverages before focusing cameras. I used to think up new curse words when focusing cameras... got it right and then sure enough while tightening those tiny set screws it would move a hair and be off.
  15. It does matter. It should match what the router is set for. Java isn't required for the remote program, however it is for the browser. I think the OP definitely needs to get another router in there to test, even though he's able to d/l a file from the dvr. Interesting.
