Where did you find the info that you found?? -
I wonder if you can take the output of the AVC 760 and hook it up to a webserver that would suite your server?

This is copied from another post from back in Nov of 07 I truely do not know, and you can double check it. "The batt's is MS621 Rechargable Lithium Batt" -
I am really lost at what you are describing. Are you using a MAC therefore you cannot use Video Server E? Can you use these solutions? http://scorpiontheater.com/javaapp.aspx Can you use the the Java ap if you have a MAC? Can you use the JAR if you have a Solaris, or a Linux? _____________________________________________________________ I do not know what you mean by simulate??? Please describe the equipment, and the procedure to simulate the log in session. If you are not using a computer, then you are not using Video Server E, if you are not using Video Server E, then what are you doing? Can you take a VCR, and connect it to the Video out of the DVR, and then put that video on to a software on a computer that people use to edit their video cam corder movies, and then grab a snap shot?? I assume that you are aware that you cannot plug the Hard Drive from the DVR into a computer directly as the video is encoded with a proprietary software? _____________________________________________________________ If you are not using a computer then how are you hooked up over IP? Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

can you play the regular video, and at the right moment press pause, and just do a screen shot of your computer?

If you have to watch multiple doors in the hallway then pull the camera back, and then use a higher mm lens then the vari focal that you mentioned. A higher mm lens will actually compress the area in the video. Forget the 4 power adapters. The added cost of finding a power strip that sits side saddle is hard enough, then on top of that you need to to have the proper spacing to allow for the transformers to sit side by side. There is nothing wrong with using power adapters, but it is used only for the lowest of budget installs. The advantage of adapters is that you can swap them around when trying to trouble shoot camera problems. I always carry an extra power adapter for the same purpose, or when trying to trouble shoot a power supply box. You can buy inline fuses to use with the power adapters, and I would recommend that you do so. If you are not on too tight of a budget since you are ordering on line, then buy an 8 channel power supply. This will allow you to use it for other 12 volt products, such as a one door electronic access. This is great if you ever have to add on more cameras down the road. Perhaps you should buy an 8 channel DVR even though you are only using a few cameras. You never know when you might need it!!! I commend you for planning everything down to the smallest of details, but I would ask that you stand on a ladder with a camera, and a TV with a composite input before you mount them. This will give you much better design input then all of the drawing that you have assembled, and compliled. Rolling the camera will not benefit you that I am aware of, but then again you may be thinking of a camera that I do not have in mind that would give you the results that you want. I would not mount a camera on its side unless it was a covert install for LE (law enforcement), and the only way to hide the camera was to install it sideways so that you could get the evidence without revealing the camera.

That sounds like a power supply issue. It could be the power adapter, or it could be internal. If the adapter goes bad it can blow the internal power supply as well. You will need to get another power adapter to see if that brings it up to life, or not.

I am confused! You do not want to run RCA cables from each camera to your PC, but you are willing to run a Cat 5 cable from each camera to your PC, is this correct? This would not solve that situation. Now on the other hand you are using IP cameras then you do not need RCA cables, and you can hook these up to your LAN with CAT 5. If you are doing this analog cameras then I would suggest a stand alone 4 channel DVR if you are on a budget, or an 8 channel DVR if it is in your budget. Then hook up your cameras to the DVR with Siamese RG 59. You can hook the DVR up to your LAN, and WAN for remote view. You can hook a wi fi bridge to your DVR as well. Which way did you say you wanted to design your system?

I am not a DS2 expert. I do have one client that has one that I provide service for. It provides all 16 channel live, and over the internet. Note: This is an older machine of several years. Here is a cut and paste from the online manual MONITOR VIEWING • Main monitor (S-Video & Composite): • Full screen, programmable sequence & alarm switching. • Programmable multi-screens: picture-in-picture, quad, 5+1, 4+3, 9 way, 8+2, 12+1,16 way x2 electronic zoom, freeze frame. • Spot monitor: (Composite) • Full screen, programmable sequence & alarm switching When I read the online manual I read what you are stating. Interesting!

I new an expert would come along, but wow! I did not expect "the" top dog to respond!!! Fill us in on a bit more info. I have never done one. Manuals never seem to "go with the flow" with making installs any easier!

Now that is a choke hold!! See you on the forum!

OK! I have my funny glasses with the eyebrows, and mustache on! How do I look? See you on the forum!

I know how you feel! I have been there same as you waiting on a reply. I am an AVTech guy so this is above what I am used to. Give it some time and an "expert" should be along. I wish you well.

Crappy picture... any ideas? sample pic attached
scorpion replied to chr1z's topic in General Digital Discussion
Rory, I agree that the shot could be better. Since I am not at his location, then it is only a guessing game for me to determine why the quality is not up to par as I am not familiar with that cam. As for facial recognition I think the camera has done it "daytime" job. I could go to a police line up, and pick him out of the line with no problem. -
In the US with Eastern Time you can call (866) 997 9009, and you can ask for Frank. He will set you up with a Demo that will not your socks off!

All of my customers are budget customers. I would not know what a quality camera was if it was staring me in the face! LOL! With facial recognition I use two cameras, one for the "everything" view, and the other for the "close up". I am still curious if that is you in the shot?? I like how that camera starts at 6mm, and that you do not have distance distortion. -

In my opinion, and only my opinion.... This is what that camera should look like. I think that is giving you enough "evidence" for facial recognition. Is that you in the video shot??? Facial recognition needs to have the face closer to 25% of the screen shot. I do not know what percentage his/your face covers in that screen, but it is pretty small. How many pixals do you think represent his/your face? Yes, you are right, not that much. Are you looking for megapixal style of resolution? Are you sure the artifacts are not coming from the DVR? Can you give us a picture straight from the camera without going through the DVR? -
May the force be with you! See you on the forum!
