    Actually avc760z replaced 760... 760zas replaced 760zz... kpd672 replaced 760zas shortly after... kpd674 then replaced 672 a not much after and now 674a replaces 674.

All this is just over a year.

This is what ticks me off about AVT.

  2. The IDE is the main clue as the Iphone Ap is made for the SATA version.

I do not know if Eagle Eyes old will work or not, but I doubt that it will.

In the area that I live most of the customers are well off to do, and they come from the high tech field (they do the install), or the customers are regular joes and do not pay extra to have cell video set up.

This leaves me in the middle with no contact with various vendors, providers, and cell phones to get a grasp on any of the parameters.

I tried following cell phone gaming forums to see if I could find a common trait between games, and cell phone video. Such as java issues and such.

I could not get much without getting my hands on some phones. For me to buy everyphone is out of the question as no one would want to pay for my services that would repay the investment to put information together.

I wish I had a solution for you.

  3. This is how it is designed.

Most small businesses will have one owner. The owner will be at the place where the DVR is located, or they are remoting in.

Where there are two business owners is where trouble comes in. The question is who has priority?

The reason it is set up this way is to catch an employee who remotes in to mess up the settings so the DVR does not work, and then the employee can steal, cheat, or lie, or what have you, and then reset the DVR.

You can see a bad employee messing with your DVR right in front of your eyes.

If you are remoting in then you will see another person who is remoting in, and messing with your DVR.

Rule one. Take your DVR off of admin / admin default and create a new user / password!

You will have to work around this feature the best you can.

I would love to hear more about your case!

  5. Sorry to here of this!

    Who gets the kids?

You have been stuffing money down the drain on this DVR. Does this mean that the DVR is now accustomed to this life style, and you will have to continue throwing money down the drain by court order?

Hate to see how much the attorney fees will be!

I am going to miss the guidance of those idiosyncrasies that you have found!

  6. The law would probably kick in based on the lens selection.

House with 32 cameras across the front would make neighbors "nervous", but if they were all 2.8mm to 4mm lenses then there is not much to see 20 feet from where the camera is mounted.

In commercial districts that use PTZ cameras with "super zoom" then the cameras have a "black out mode". You can black out a window. When the camera pans across the window it creates a black area where the window is located.

In the local neighborhood you would have to be above 25mm to be able to get up close to the house, and I doubt you would see much except maybe at night when it is dark, and the internal lights are on giving you a view at night. Shades, and blinds would remedy this.

If you were aiming a 220X Zoom camera in to someone's window then other laws would probably kick in such as stalking, voyeuism, peeping tom, or whatever local laws there may be.

You can imagine the "hatemail" that I used to get in 2000 before it was "cool" to have cameras. Now anytime something happens my door is the first to be knocked on. Sometimes my cameras have solved "mysterys" on houses that are at the end of the opposite block.

If I were to take all my cameras down I think the whole neighborhood would be "up in arms" for taking them down. Ironic huh?

It is not illegal to sell steak knives, it is how you use them that makes them illegal.

Check your local laws for your true answer.

  7. To us Floridians we have been hating life as we have constant winter weather (to our standard), or it is overcast and cloudy.

This is the most weird winter we have ever had in a very long time.

I find it funny that they cannot get snow at the olympics, and other places wish they could get rid of the snow, and here it is in mid March, and we still do not have "florida sunshine".

I believe even the Canadian tourist are mad at our weather!

I wish you could have kept that DVR around. It would have been fun to track that bug down.

I had a DVR that was manufactured in 2005, or so that had a weird problem. We torched the chips and would you believe it started running again?

Strange! I guess the DVR overheated, and the solder inside the chip melted, and we just reflowed it or something!

  8. Being the pro that you are I will not dare say do a hard ware reset!

I am sure you have done the reset.

I am confused as to why it would be doing that. I am thinking of a bad power pack that is leaking ac.

Perhaps try freeze spray on the chips to see if it is overheating.

Have you check all of the oscillators on the board. One might be out of freq. It may work for a time, and then drift perhaps.

    What do you think?

  9. Do you have a camera? Perhaps you can take a picture of the inside. There might be two pins that are close together.

IF it had a hardware reset then you would pull the plug from the DVR till it is completely powered down. You would short the two pins with a screwdriver, and then you would plug the power back in, and you would hold it till the last beep when it is starting.

This is only a wild guess on my part as I cannot find any info about this DVR.

  10. It would also depend on the model number of the camera.

There are "kits" in a box that only come with one model of camera. These are usually bullet cameras. They will be wide angle, and great for watching a large peripheral area such as a yard, or drive way.

If you need to watch something more than 20 feet from where the camera is mounted such as a street side mailbox then you will need a larger number millimeter lens. The wide angle cameras will be 3.8mm, or 4mm. To watch a mailbox you might need a 12mm, or higher.

I order "self made kits" where I can pick and choose types, and styles of cameras.

My favorite camera to order is a varifocal lens 4mm to 8mm and it can be wall mounted, top mounted, or ceiling mounted.

You may not be happy with the entry level model bullet camera.

You can throw the bullet cameras on the ground and they will still work (but I do not recommend that you do so). They are tough cameras.

Make sure the kit comes with an H.264 DVR. You will be very happy! The older MPEG models are great! They are bullet proof, and run forever if you keep them plugged in to a battery back up with good line filtration.

I have AVTech DVRs from 2005 still running! They may need fans replaced, or hard drives replaced every so often to prevent a total breakdown.

Most problems with any brand DVR will be with power supplys, or hard drives. These things are working 24/7 and they absorb what ever abuse comes across the power lines if there is no filtration.

    Any questions?
