    Raid 1 and 5 Questions

The DOM unit is an industrial grade disk on module device (1 Gigabyte in size) and the whole image cannot be edited from other software. There is no switch on the DOM to prevent writing because the software will still need to write to it especially DVR settings and XP Embedded settings such as IP address, etc.

    Hello All

Andrew, I heard you are running a nice sales team!
  3. Hey Rory On the combo card, what issue are you experiencing in terms of VGA quality? What video card is in the machine? What motherboard are you using? Also, what are the specs of the monitor you are viewing on? Sorry for the 3rd degreee here.

Is the area completely dark or is there some light. IR works best in complete darkness. What is the area you are looking to cover?

    GV-1480 Sytem Specs

Hey EZCCTV, let me take a moment to compliment you guys. You always seem to have the latest documentation available.
  7. yeah for now geo only supports their own video servers. They will probably support IP cameras when they have no other choice but to. Luckily there are different manufacturers that are good for different situations. have you checked out Geo's Control Center software yet? We have it runing with 4 monitors (256 camera display). Pretty powerful stuff.
  8. We carry and like both manufacturers. I think the video quality on both products are similar. I would say Geovision has more features but Avermedia software package is powerful enough for many applications. Geo Advantages -more software features -more well known -more resources dedicated to cctv -more accessories and better documentation Aver Advantages -cheaper on the average -some cards are stackable -support for axis and sony IP Cameras
  9. In addition to the products already mentioned, this product is also worth throwing into the mix http://digitalwatchguard.com/securitycameras/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=553&idproduct=4445 (Intel Coreâ„¢2 Duo processor 2.4GHz required for 30fps recording in 640x480) ---- We offer this in our Gold PC Based DVR.

    Speco vs Bosch

I agree with Rory. Also, I always like to compare product vs product, rather than manufacturer vs manufacturer. No manufacturer make 100% great products so testing and sharing results are huge. In short, no manufacturer is the best (that is why we carry many different brands and stock what we feel is the best from each manufactuer)
  11. FACT: Those cameras work excellent in complete darkness.

Is the Geovision output cable RCA or BNC?

I really wish i could be on here more. My wife and I had a baby and there went my evenings. It's worth it though Sal III is awesome. I will be at ISC East Booth #1669 if anyone wants to stop by and say hello.

    nuvico nvdv 1600

The DV3 and DV4 series is a big improvement on their DV line of DVRs. Better user interface, higher FPS and MPEG4 recording. The DV3 series DVR's are a very good seller these days.
  14. Avermedia is somewhat less expensive than Geovison

    Geovision 16 CH 1480 Setup

First , I do not like your machine specs at all for the GV-1480. Athlon is not a good starting point for Geovision since geo does not test on this platform. you want to go with the 945 chipset and and a genuine intel processor. The combo cards are picky when it comes to hardware combinations, took us a while to find the right formula. Here is a machine with specs that we build and know works welll with the GV-1480. http://www.digitalwatchguard.com/securitycameras/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=363&idproduct=2877 On another note, that Sony PTZ Camera is not a Sony Camera. It is a camera with a Sony CCD chip inside. Not the same thing and I am sure it won't last as long as if it was made by Sony, however it may be fine for you application. What protocol does it run on? I reccomend Merit Lilin for use with Geo since its protocol is fully supported. http://www.digitalwatchguard.com/securitycameras/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=15&idproduct=894 As far as storage calculation, please visit http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/index.asp and see the HDD calculator on the bottom right. It will help. I think an ideal resolutiion for Geo is 1024 x 768 depending on the size and quality of the monitor.

    Casino DVR'S

who is the manufacturer of that dvr?
  18. where is that article?
  19. In my opinion, Milestone is the clear market leader and every nework camera manufacturer makes sure to be included in Milestone's lis of supported hardware. Their Enterprise software is extremely scalable and flexible.
  20. My other suggestion is to go with a mini pniphole camera and hide it in some object yourself or ina wall in the room. We sell mostly KT&C for mini pinhole cameras and they come in various resolutions and lens mm's.
  21. just to followup the nv6000 is now available.
