  1. Ok guys long story short, I have 3 WAVE-P Ether 9808 cards installed in a machine of mine. When I installed just one and tested 4 cameras everything was good and no lag, then I put in all 3 and drivers, and then I test out four one on each and an extra, and then I see lag. So does anyone know how to fix this? Their website states http://www.wave-p.com/en/productsc-5.htm "Support insert 2-4 cards in the same PC at most, form 16-32 channel real time monitoring, and can also support mix inserting Ether9404 & ETHER9808, to form 12 channel monitoring" So this means that it should work real time correct? So why does it not work Real time with more than one card? PC Specs: C2D E6420 Processor, DFI P965 MOBO 2 gigs 800MHZ ram 500 watt power supply and plenty of HDD space. XP PRO SP2 I am in talks with the manufacture rite now on MSN so we'll try to get this resolved hopefully. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
  2. Hello folks, I have a dilemma, I want to put cameras out side which will be color in both day and night. What would be a good camera for this situation? Only requirements are that it is *480 LOR *3.6mm lens *12vDC *less than $160 if possible. (And thats sorta pushing it.) Must be rated for the outdoor sun and direct rain. Dome preferred but not required. Also exview or super had is preferred as well Oh and note, I do relize that I will not get the whole image in color, but I want to have atleast some distant objects in color, around 30 feet away. And the placement will not be in complete darkenss, there will be parking lot pole lights set up to help. But the lower the lux and F rating the better! I did my own research and found out that if I have around F1.2 @ .1 lux it would be great for me but I cannot seem to find anything that is near this range.
  3. Hello folks I got a simple question, If I use a non IR color dome camera outside in the night time and then I put in a Illuminator plus extra lighting such as parking lot pole lights will I be able to help get the images picked up in color or will it just be monochrome? I am assuming it will be black and white, but I dont have the money to burn to find out for myself,
  4. Hello everyone I need some help once again. We had a crazy ass 18 wheeler do some massive damage on my dad's property and we played back the video to see if we can catch the culprit. Luckily we were able to capture the bad guy, but we had some quality issues with the video. I have taken a few snap shots so ya'll can see for yourselves. I can also provide video if anyone wants to see the issue in motion but bascily i have black lines being dragged across the video. This happens during viewing and playback. It didnt happen at first and then about 1 week after the install it started happening every now and then. Then it stopped again and started again......so yeah you get the point. Anyways here are the pictures and hopefully someone can help me out. More infomation availiable upon request. Its a PC based DVR with software compression DVR card. By the way this is just a temporary setup, comments or suggestions are more than welcome![/img]
  5. Hello, thanks for the response. That cameras spec wise looks great but it would be over my budget unfortunately.
  6. I have to agree, You need to get a better card. but what cameras are you using? Those cameras are some cheap ones Specifications: * Weatherproof housing * Image device: 1/3-inch Sony CCD * Horizontal definition: 480 lines * Minimum illumination: 0 lux (infrared on) * Number of infrared lights: 30 units * Infrared range: 18-20m * Power adapter: DC12V/500mA * Size: 154 x 90 x 70mm Yup we got the company, and are in the process of getting a claim, at first they denied it until we got the police involved. But yeah thanks for getting the information. Also as far as getting a good PC Card, what is a good PC card that can go up to atleast 24 channels of video and one channle audio at D1 or 640x480 resolution and has removte view? I have searched everywhere and cant find anything reasonable! I can get stackable cards if anyone can suggest me any where to buy em for a good price. Thats the main reason why I havent been able to use Geovision or Avermedia.
  7. I don't know how to convert it from the DVR format to AVI or anything so I will just post a EXE to view the video shortly. Currently as this is a temporary setup, it is on around 5-7 of 13 channels, and the about 4 channels are VERY VERY bad with the issue. The cameras outside are mounted to bricks, and the frame of the building is metal on the outside walls and the interior corridors are wood framing. It happens on some of the cameras on the inside as well. Also yes they are connected to a central power supply, 18 channel, 9 AMPs. I will try the wall wart solution tomorrow if time permits. I don't know if it is just me or what, but I re routed the coax wires ends where it connects to the computer away from the power wires and what not as much as I could and it seemed to help solve the problem, I'll test this "theory" more tomorrow when I get a chance. Oh and let me upload that video. What happened was the 18 wheeler guy tresspassed onto the property by removing/running over the barricades and then ran over the curbs and damage that and the grass and then he tried to make a U-Turn and knocked down a 20+ foot light pole and completely knoced the foundation of the light pole out of place. The estimated damages were around $7,000+ with all labor and materials. *EDIT* Alright here is the video, just download and open the EXE and then hit the Magnify glass to make bigger. http://www.mediafire.com/?4yzm1gbn1xm
  8. Nope, just as long as YOU own it and its all done by YOU then I am pretty sure you cant get in trouble, but then again hell it is always good to make sure before you have to pay for it later, Just call up DBPR, I am sure they can help. 850.487.1395 Infact, I think I am gonna go pay them a visit tomorrow, Still debating.

    wave-p 9808 card

i found out a reason why some people may experience problems with this brand of cards. I used to when I tested log onto the newtork from 2 differnt IP's and networks which caused the system to crash. and reboot. So I have been trying for a week to just use the single log on and then see how it goes and its been going good so far. But not sure how stable it will be, I'll try and keep updating everyone.
  10. Hello, sorry for the late response, I havent had time to get online lately. But anyways, I did not find a solution but the manufacture said that the problem was with the limited transfer rates for regular PCI and some other technical crap like that. Hope that helps.
  11. Hello guys, I have yet another question, One of my dads buddies was asking me the other day if I could set up something for him. Bascilly what he has right now is a WAVE-P PC Based DVR with 16 Channels, from ADT (Go Figure, i thought they only did Standalones....) Anyways he has a POS system I can't remember which version but I can get all of that information and post it up if that helps. Basicly I want to hook up the WAVE-P machine to display on itself or on the POS system with OSD functionality. I did some research and it is possible if I uses RS485 cable but I have no experince so I would like bit more information before I go in and mess things up. Do I need to make changes to the software? How will it be detected? and things such as that nature. Thanks alot and once again help is appreciated as always.
  12. Hi guys I haven't had much free time lately to be on here lately but anyways I got a question about a particular central power supply. So lets say for example I have a 12VDC @ ~450mA camera around 350-400 feet away and I get voltage drop of 2V so I would set the power supply from 12VDCto 14VDC correct? But what about the other cameras (12VDC @ 300-450mA) using the same power supply but different channel output that are around 40-150FT which have no voltage loss, would those still power up or not work at all? I'm kinda stummped on this issue so help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Very sorry for the late response guys, first off thanks for taking the time to respond and help me out. But I solved the issue, it wasnt as long of a run as I thought plus i could just put a remote power adapter so all problems solved!
  14. Hello folks once again. I have yet another question. I just found out about Baluns and how to use them. Now my question is I see a Balun that can do Video and Power over CAT5e. How reliable would this be? I mean I do not want to run alot of CAT5e and then a few months or a year later the CAT5e cable dies. Also I have a question about a Balun that can do Power, video and PTZ, Thru Balun. This the specs I was given. Do ya'll think using this Balun instead of RG59 and PTZ cable for a PTZ camera that is 12VDC with 2A current consume, around 350FT away ok to install and reliable? *EDIT* I also relized that the balun is for 24VAC, but lets say I find one that is for 12VDC would that work? Thanks. Also note I have seen this thread but still would like to know more about the reliability and if it would work for my application. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11551
  15. Just curious has anyone ever done this before? and if so how/what programs did you use? I am interested in altering the coloring layout of the wave-p products along with removing DVR to make it just nice, plain and simple as much as possible.
  16. Yup, that was one of the first things I made sure when I looked at the cable. I think mine supports 1024 X 768. Which will work. That does look very interesting/expensive/professional, I'll keep it in mind when I do a job where I want to look like a uber pro!
  17. What is an inexpensive way for me to run VGA or DVI cable up to around 200FT while staying under $150 any ideas fellas? The cheapest I came up with was for around $350 which is way too expensive for me.
  18. Sorry for the late response guys I have night classes which take up alot of time. Dang thats good to know. I was considering to switch to CAT5 for a few upcoming small jobs but was unsure if it would be good or not. Yeah I was thinking maybe just run CAT5e for video and do local power. Still debating though, I mean if it is just around 200 FT I might just go CAT5e for power and video. Anything more than maybe 250-300 FT and I know i will have problems. Thanks for the help guys I look forward to trying out CAT5e soon for power and video. Also last question, Say I want to use the Balun method of an outdoor camera, what kind of enclosure do you guy put the balun in? I mean is it just a weather proof box from lowes you get and do you seal it or is it some kinda special box?
  19. Hi guys I am looking for products from WAVE-P and JMK that are available for purchase in USA, secure Credit card transactions are preferable. This way both parties are ensured of getting the money/product. I am interested in anything from PC DVR cards to cameras, to power supplies. Let me know if anyone is interested in selling or knows of anyone who sells these products. My email address: iamapoolplayer2004 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com Thanks and I look forward to doing high and low volume business VERY VERY soon!
  20. Thanks for the suggestion but I think I am just better off buying a 200ft VGA cable. Saw one for around 130 shipped which I think is reasonable enough.
  21. Hello people I have a question my DVR card supports audio and has connectors for audio which are BNC based. What is the sutiable microphone for this? I need four for now and more later on. Please PM me the a link or even the brand/manufacture and I will take care of the rest thanks.
  22. I'll keep the adapters in mind when I install the system and thanks for the link. Now I fully realize that you are looking to record birds calls and other sounds of nature so this really will not be an issue. But, FYI Depending on where you are located on the planet and you local or federal laws recording a persons voice is seriously illegal. It is technically possible of course but against the law with out written or oral permission of those being recorded. I know that people are doing it everyday, but you could not pay me enough to set one up. That is unless immediately after the job, you pay for an private jet to a location of my choice with enough to live quite well on for at least 20 years or I die of natural causes. Damn I totally must have forgotten about this. I'll let the guy I'm supposed to be installing for know. Thanks for getting my back guys, I'm just a newbie and dont wanna get in no trouble.
  23. Thanks alot for the link buddy. I am from tallasshaee florida, and am interesting in starting my own part time CCTV installations. This will help me a bunch. once again thanks, these are some great links.

    Try this trick!

Pretty cool trick man. Thanks for sharing.
  25. That should do the trick, let me just make sure that the mic I am purchasing are RCA based and not the headphone jack style. Thanks for the help.
