    The I4 supports 2 1080P cameras / 3 720P cameras or 4 D1 cameras. It pulls a RTSP stream from the cameras. And yes you can use it with encoders if you have analog cameras. You get more detection range the higher the resolution. The A4 supports analog only. DRS just stopped selling direct so I still have the DRS version. Now you can get Dvtel or Ganz.

    I have used Avigilon, Axis, Hikvsion, Panasonic and DRS Thermal IP cameras with the IP version. For analog cameras I have mostly used Hikvision PTZ cameras but I would recommend WDR cameras as you want high contrast images for best results with the analytics.

  7. I recommend you adjust your key frames to 1 per second on your cameras. A) your not going to see much of a bandwidth improvement using 2 per second vs 1 per second B) more importantly scrubbing video will be much improved Also the bandwidth your seeing from the lightcatcher is normal and is typical from all low light cameras.
  8. Avigilon told me they are not interested in new dealers as they are full and if I wanted to buy/sell Avigilon, I would have to work through an existing dealer. That was so annoying, took a month only for the dealer they recommended to have lost our order. then a few more weeks until we got the camera. The camera was relatively unique being a telephoto vandal dome so we put up with it, but I would never put up with it otherwise. We are a dealer and I can get you quotes for equipment the same day if needed. Long as parts are in stock you will have gear within 1 week.

  10. Avigilon 5 MP domes and bullets. One example: 2592 x 1944, 8.4 Mbps Not sure I understand the question, but I'll try and answer. There are four servers in four locations. The servers are dedicated to running Avigilon. The cameras at each location are connected to the server via a local router. I am connecting to the servers via my desktop and client. One of the servers is on my LAN and it is always fast. My client connects to the other servers via WAN. One of the remote locations is our community clubhouse. The only computer on that LAN is the Avigilon server, and nothing else at that location is connected to the internet. Let me be more specific about the task that seems much too slow. I am not complaining about delays when viewing cameras in live mode or recorded playback. Specifically, I am referring to viewing a single image. For example, when I am reading license plates, there is a series of red motion bars on the timeline that indicate when a vehicle passes the camera. To read a plate, all I have to do is click in the middle of the red motion bar. There are times when I can click, click, click in the center of successive red motion bars and the images appear almost instantly. There are other times when I click in the middle of the red motion bar and there can be seconds of pause after each click while the client attempts to retrieve the next image. Sometimes when I drag the cursor across a camera's timeline on a remote server, images appear so fast it's almost magical. Other times, I just click at a single location on the timeline to view a single image and the spinning wheel appears for seconds. I don't expect an 8.2 Mbps stream to fit through a 2.5 Mbps pipe, but a single image is not that much data, and clearly it works well sometimes. I have run speed test many times on the servers to see if there are any issues with upload speed, but that seems very stable. Any ideas why downloading a single image could sometimes download instantly and other times generate a spinning wheel lasting 3 to 10 seconds? Best, Christopher Is the WAN connection shared with other devices on the network or is it dedicated to the camera system at the remote sites? Is something else using bandwidth other than the server when you are connected to it. Sounds like your WAN connection at your remote sites are inconsistent.
  11. What cameras are you trying to view? What resolution are they and what is the bandwidth of each camera? Is the WAN connection dedicated to the cameras or is it shared?

    I have done that in the past, but it is not suitable for camera's on a pole mount. A box in the top of the pole is bad for catching wind / pole stabilisation. A box in the base of the pole is vulnerable to vandalism. We have many deployments like this in the field. You only need a small NEMA box so this issue is minimised.

  15. If size is not an issue this is not hard to do. Cell Router / POE switch / Server/computer and camera. Power and bandwidth are the tricky part
  16. Well you're going to be limited on your VMS choices based on the cameras you have. Exacq and Milestone are your best choices for supporting the cameras you currently have. If it was me I would go with Avigilon and replace any of the non compatible cameras with Avigilon cameras.
