Avigilon is releasing their appearance search soon:

This is not normal and I highly doubt is a Avigilon issue. I would call support and have them run a bug report.

Chinese Goverment controls many of the Chinese companies (I wouldn't exclude DAHUA, for example). Should've been ok, if these devices weren't online. But most like/need them online. And, on top of that, users like to P2P their video streams right under chinese goverment's nose. Yet, they talk about privacy and security...
True BUT the Chinese government actually owns Hikvision not just controls them.

Make sure you have done your POE calculations to make sure your switches can supply enough power to all of your cameras.
Also I would recommend using Star topology over daisy chaining your switches.

Genetec can do this with cloud archiving feature. You don't have to worry about hardware but you will pay for it.
-
If your looking at Hikvision you should understand and be be comfortable with the fact that they are owned by the Chinese government

So you have HD IP cameras and you want to add HD analog cameras?
Axis does not have HD encoders. Why not just add another HD IP camera like the Q1615 Mk II which supports upto 120FPS in 720P mode.

I see the H3 line going away after the H4 SL line starts to ship next month. H3A and H4 have the same analytics but the H4 has more processing power and better design.

I haven't used the Axis unit in a while. Is it ActiveX or HTML5?

Avigilon embedded access control unit would work very well for this. You can expand it to 16 doors and no server/computer is required for the database as the webpage is embedded into the controller. You can access the system from any web browser from your computer, ipad or cell phone.

You can use something like this unit. Takes a single HDMI input and can send that to 4 monitors over a single cat5/6. Also has a loop output for local display. I haven't used this unit below but we have done this many times for the same reason you are.

Are you looking to display the matrix view of all the cameras or do you need to just show a single camera full screen on the monitors?

So, basic questions:
1. Which camera brands allow one to set the bitrate to a really high level? Say 30Mbps (h264).
2. Which brands are known for their picture quality, independent of bitrate? Quality lenses, good sensors, etc.
Well if you don't require 30FPS Avigilon's PRO cameras are hard to beat when it comes to image quality. Resolution options are 4K,4.5K, 5K, 6K, 7K. They use crop frame and full frame sensors with Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses. Image quality is awesome.
If you need 30FPS I would look at AXIS cameras as they don't have a bandwidth cap and you can turn the compression level to zero which will get you the bit rates you are looking for.

Best at what? Lowest bandwidth? Low light performance? Formfactor?

i have used Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone and NICE (Qognify), as enterprise installations, but i rate Qognifys VMS as the best out of them all, they all have licences per camera, analytics etc they all have the same basic functions but I find the analytic setup and integration with other systems and API's all though in depth is far superior on NICE.What type of customer do you have that is using Qognifys VMS? That is some big bucks for that solution.

I have little first hand experience, but I am sure from what I have read and your experiences, that NVR and remote viewing software collectively sucks really bad.
I have a lot of experience with many professional VMS platforms and IP cameras. There is very good software on the market you just need to figure out which platform is right for you.

Avigilon's ES cameras might be a good fit as you don't need to have a server onsite for these to work.
Also Genetec has a very nice cloud camera solution where you also don't any servers on site. The Genetec solution is really nice as you don't have to manage any port forwarding or VPNs. To access all your sites you just log into a web page to view all your cameras all over the county.

Guys, it sounds like no body has ever use face recognition before. If someone used any could he please tell me what type, how much it cost and how it's workingNobody is using it becuase it is extremely expensive and not very reliable in the real world.
Check out http://fstbm.com/ but keep in mind you will need cameras and a VMS.

I went to The Wire Guys link and noticed the camera placement on the turn stiles.I think that is integrated into Genetec for access control.

Hello CCTV prosIt would be so awesome if you could help me in the process of designing the hardware setup for my startup company
What I need is essentially a Camera that can record license plates(ANPR). I figured that the best solution and most affordable solution is to buy a Camera that includes ANPR software, which i can install on a windows server.
The software must be able to capture all Arabic license plates, and European, and the cars will be entering parking facilities, so no need for high speed capture.
Currently i'm looking at these solutions:
- Dallmeier(german manufacturer)
- ARH
- Hikvision
- Geovision
- Avigilon
Both Dallmeier and Avigilon seem expensive.
Would it make sense to just buy the Avigilon ANPR software, and then a high quality bullet camera from some other manufacturer?
What would you guys recommend ?
No you would need camera if you go with there ALPR solution. Another open you can look into that works with Avigilon is Platesmart.
Cammy.com, Ezviz alternatives?
