It’s a dead balloon (with a string attached). Look at the top of the stairwell, just above the word “Sideâ€

Yeah. Skinny bald guy with a round head and pasty white complexion. He sort of looks like a balloon with a string attached.

Same here.... Another thanks to Cooperman.

Who are you calling a "Nerd," Union Boy?

So, all I need is a 4mm view. Would it be better to get the 4mm fixed or the 4-9mm vari-focal?
-
The confusion is that for the 4~9mm lens, they say 'Vari-Focal DC Auto Iris'. But for the 4mm, they simply say 'Fixed Lens'.
-
fixed Mircro Lens, not Fixed Iris Lens ..Ok, so what's up with the 4mm on the Nuvico? AI or no AI?
-
I have several fixed focal length lenses that have an auto iris. I don't know about domes (don't have any yet), but there are plenty of standard CS-type cameras that support AI lenses with a fixed focal length.
So why would it be harder to outfit an auto iris on a fixed lens than a vari-focal lens in the Nuvico?
-
Does anyone know if the fixed 4mm lens packaged with the Nuvico NVCC-HVD has an auto iris? Most of the literature I've seen suggests that only the vari-focal lenses have an auto iris.

The Pelco IR illuminators use a PAR56 lamp. If I take that lamp which costs $45 and install it in a regular light fixture will I be able to use it as an IR illuminator or is there something I am missing? I am assuming that the PAR45 is not producing visible light.
Thanks
Short answer: no. There's a lens in the IR fixture that filters the light "down to" the IR wavelength.

I vote for camera 3. (Just saw some guy drive off in a jeep.)

Dang! You must’ve been a sight hitchhiking with your head all bashed up. Whoever picked you up must’ve been a saint.

Nothing ticks me off more than a meat thief. (Talk to our cats about that and you'll get an ear full.)
-
Those with meat should monitor their meat and make sure those who remove meat from the freezer have rightful access to the meat. Because meat is meat and no one should be messing with one's meat! (It’s a primal thing.)

I've just installed three Sony SSC-73 domes, very satisfied with the results.[/img]Are you using any IR illumination?
-
I'll start this off:
Sony: Most expensive, but small size and wide dynamic.
Nuvico: Least expensive.
Sanyo: Only a little less than the Sony, but no wide dynamic.

For someone looking for the following features:
* Mechanical IR cut filter
* Auto Iris Lens
* Vandalproof / Weatherproof
The current contestants are:
* Sanyo VDC-D1184VA
* Sony SSC-CD73V
* Nuvico NVCC-HVD
Questions:
* What other cameras should be added to this list?
* What camera would you choose and why?
-
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.
Anyway, if the cameras are for use outdoors, look for those that have an auto iris; that should take care of your "white screen" problem. If you want nighttime coverage, your best bet on that budget are B&W cameras. You can probably get a cheapie 4-channel DVR for around £300, so that leaves £100 for each camera, which should be sufficient.
There are other members here from the UK, so you might want to contact them for advice on suppliers. Also, check out some of the used B&W cameras on Ebay. There are a number of sellers in the UK.

Shhhhh... I'm working on a deal here!

I have a Coax master tool and stripper, and couple bags of connectors I will sell for cheap if you are foolish enough to try.
I'm a fool. How much?

Unlike Rory, I’m not so crazy about the quality of the ProVideo bullet cameras. I have a 3-year-old HEAT camera that produces an image like a Monet painting. It’s actually very “artistic,â€
