Recommended 8 Ch DVR for Retail store

I would go with Everfocus model EDVR9D1 Is a 9 channel with the dvd Burner.... 3 year Warranty ... They also have a 4 channel in this model. I would also stay away from Qsee products.

    16 channel standalone recommendation

I like Everfocus's EDVR16D1 model. It's affordable and I've used them throughout different amusement parks and have had no trouble even in harsh conditions.

    dsl vs cable

The question is do you want a piece of a pie or do you want the whole pie? While cable is generally faster... . you must share bandwidth with others... so if network usage on your street or area is high then your bandwidth may be decreased substantially. Now with DSL you might not get the speeds of cable but you are looking at a direct connection and no sharing of bandwidth.
  6. I think you should go with Fiber for the amount of area and the throughput that will be needed. Estimate the costs of cabling and the cost for a Fiber box installed in the various locations that you plan on having network equipment. Jump off each fiber box with a single cat5 converter or for more than one camera use a Fiber to Cat5 switch. Your costs will include: Fiber cable Fiber boxes and termination points The switches (if there are more than one camera in the location) or Converters With cat5 being stretched to capacity you will most certainly have a lot of attenuation and the throughput will be limited for transmission. A good outdoor PTZ camera I would recommend is the WV-CW964 by Panasonic. The camera is weather proof , works day and night.

How about a 4 channel Everfocus product? I've never had any trouble with name brand systems.. The EDVR4D1 is a great dvr.... and comes with a built in DVD burner. Good Luck... let us know what you get.

64 Cameras and 64 Audio Independantly

I agree with Kingwood... HikVision DS 4016HCI would be the best cards for the greatest resolution and frame rates. The cards are also stackable.... where as GeoVision cards are not. DS 4016HCI 16 channels can have 8 channels of 4cif at real time or all channels at cif real time. Great card

    WJ frame rate

7.5 ips on all 16 channels in sif... The dvr lets you change settings for individual channels so you get the quality and speed you want on the most crucial channels.

64 Cameras and 64 Audio Independantly

I would run two 64 channel systems and cluster the servers using Linux-HA. High Availability Linux will allow you to cluster your servers using software named 'Heartbeat' which is a cluster management program. Microsoft also offers MSCS ... which essentially does the same thing.

hmm... Either you probably aren't getting a high resolution on all of your channels...or maybe a bad resolution across all channels.. But you said you can get CIF across all channels... maybe you should up it to 4CIF But I have a feeling your problem is with the cabling... possibly too long of a run? What type of cable are you using? and how long is the run?
