    640x480?

Curious... why are most if not all DVR cards I have seen maxed out at 640x480, and many 'standalones' are 720x484 NTSC for example? Is there really that much o diff between the two?
  6. Check out the Day/Night PTZ at http://demo1.cctvsentry.com No login required, just press Play/OK, etc. It is a GV800 setup.

    Sanyo vs Kalatel DVR

Here the quotes I received from a CDN dealer... DSR-3009 -H160 $3640.00 No costing on 80GB DSR-3709-No HD $ 2900.00 160 Hard drive is approx $160.00 Strange since the 3709 is a newer model. Theses are Canadian prices as well. So at the current xchange rate, $3640 CDN would be around $2992 USD, and $2900 CDN would be around $2484 USD.
  9. Any pro/cons on the 3 below? I know the Kalatel's are decent, but was wondering more so about the Sanyo's quality, as I have not heard much discussed of them. LAN functionality on the Sanyo 3009H is achieved by adding 16-bit PCMCIA Card, or SCSI card for external recording. The Kalatel has built-in LAN, ext. SCSI connector, and more rear ext. connections which is nice. The Sanyo's have a CF slot which is a bonus. All are 60fps and Triplex capable. Sanyo DSR-3009H (9-channel) Sanyo DSR-3709 (9-channel) Kalatel DVMRe Triplex (4-channel)
  10. Anyone have any info on the Panasonic WJ-HD500B's Digital Recorders? Are they decent, too expsensive for what you get, etc.? http://www.panasonic.ca/english/Broadcast/security/recorders/digital/wjhd500b.asp The WJ-HD316 below looks pretty as well. I seen one in action, was impressive the short time I was checking it out. http://www.panasonic.ca/english/Broadcast/security/recorders/digital/wjhd316.asp
  11. ...or perhaps get a BNC T splitter and run one into the GV card, then the other into a CCTV monitor, or other 'TV' and see how much signal loss if any there be.
  12. I might start with a better Video Card. Perhaps also start GEO in 1024x768 monitor display mode (in the config settings) as well. Make sure the LCD is in its native res mode as well. Then if that did not satisfy me and I had the extra dollas, I would buy the Real Time Display Card as well as a decent CCTV monitor. And if that did not satisfy me... I would start slappin ppl around.
  13. Not to ferget... it is the Better Digital Surveillance System... so really there should be no problemos.
  14. Same thing with our GV800 setup. We have pretty basic CRT monitors though which no doubt contributes. Prob the best option for GeoVision is to buy the Real Time Display add-on card, but they are expensive... here anyway... costs the same as the GV800 card we bought.

    Sanyo vs Kalatel DVR

I just received a quote of $2900 CDN from a local dealer on the Sanyo 9-channel 60fps below... with no HD. Ouchee. http://www.sanyo.ca/en-CA/industrial/security/digital_video_recorders/index.cfm?productID=611 Cannot be seem to find a manual or spec sheet on it though.

    Bosch Divar2 Remote Demo?

$2500+ CDN for a basic HD 4-channel Divar2 seems a bit expensive to me. I would get one though if I could get some sort of financing through a local dealer.
  17. We currently use a GeoVision GV800 PC Based DVR at work. It has been 'ok' so far. I am beginning to dislike PC Based DVR's in general though. If I need to change a cam setting (not often but occasionally) on the camera (currently 1 x WV-CP474). I have to take my laptop outside, and connect to the remote web interface via WiFi as I manually go through the setup menu on the cam itself. It is a pain even if not that often. We will be adding more cams (up to 4) with a combo of conventional and dome cams, all Panasonic. Other than Panasonic DVR's (such as the WJ-HD* models), are there any other embedded DVR's that will do the same? I would also like one that records higher than 640x480. Thx.

    Sanyo vs Kalatel DVR

Yes, from what I have seen so far, the Bosch seems decent as well. I always liked their stuff... spark plugs and alternators anyway Are there any Bosch demos online anywhere? I would like to see the Divar manual(s) as well. I can't seem to find them anywhere yet. ...k just found this, will have to do some research. http://www.boschsecurity.us/itempage.cfm?Cntry_Id=47&Lang_Id=1&Family_Id=100&PageNb=5

    Which Manufacturer

We use a basic IEI 232i keypad for entry/door striker along with one-way video phones (2 way audio) for reception.

    Geovision Audio

Our GV800-4 came with a 4 port audio thingy that fits in a PCI slot (to the chassis and not the actual PCI slot). The wire connects to the DVR card. See pic at bottom of http://www.geovision.com.tw/002/en/product-gv800.asp
  24. He talkin bout GeoVision though I believe. I burned a CD last weekend for the Police after a particular email alert. I downloaded through the pretty lil GEO web interface at home (we have a GV800), cut the part of the 5 min file that was important using Movie Maker, then burned the wmv to a CD. The motion was jerky (always has been on our setup though) and the frame rate increased to 60fps it would seem. No doubt there is a simpler way to burn CD's in GEO, but I have never even bothered to look thoroughly. Perhaps in the Video Logs section?

    GeoVision DVR Cards

Curious if anyone knows why they call it... 'Better Digital Surveillance System' ? Is it because it is better than others?
