    DVR Cards & AMD CPU

I went with the GV250 - 8 port in the end as it is on special at the moment - £99. It worked like a dream, straight out of the box. Within two hours I had it all installed and the streaming web server and e-mail alerts up and running. Looks like I'm going to be OK with the VIA board (touch wood). I just need some cameras now.....
  2. I e-mailed you but it must have not reached you. I'll try again. Steve

    Driveway cam

I need a colour cam to cover where my car is parked. Ideally it would be as unobtrusive as possible but needn't be smaller than a bullet cam. It's going to be mounted about 7 ft from the ground on the fascia board above my garage door. I would need to be able to cover an area from 2m to about 7m away and I would like evidential quality accurate facial recognition within that area day and night. I'm thinking Sony Ex-view 480 TVL bullet camera with 4.3mm lens or 4mm - 9mm varifocal. The price concerns me though. Is there a cheaper / better option ? I am planning to use a stand-alone IR illuminator if one is required. It will be used with a Geovision GV250 card. http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/color_bullet_camera.htm Thanks in advance Steve

    DVR Cards & AMD CPU

I've just installed a massive copper heatsink and fan. CPU is running at 30 deg C. I've managed to find a Gigabyte Soacket A mainboard with SiS 748 chipset for £40. If I do have any problems I'll probably change it. Steve

    DVR Cards & AMD CPU

Thanks very much for the info. I'll go ahead and order the Geo card. There's a special at the moment - GV250 - 8 cam card for £99 + tax. regards Steve
  6. I downloaded it and it seems to very good. It's a shame that the cards don't seem to be available in the UK and details of pricing are very scant.

My board has a VIA chipset unfortunately. Should I get rid of it or will the 250 or 600 card work ok ?
