Thanks for the replys I will check the frame recording rates. We will probably load the viewlog on this person's computer. He has a struggle with technolgy period and I was trying to make the process as simple as possible.

Has their been any indication that geo might come out with a system that would support more than 16 cams? Semms with new more powerful processors etc that it may be possible

We are usually limited to a fiberglass ladder or a lift. Many of our commerical places do not allow aluminum ladders.

I have a system Ver 8.0 1240 board
When you save from viewlog by clicking on the avi the files it creates are way too fast to view in playback from windows media player. even if you choose slow speed from media player they are still to fast. Am I missing a geovision setting someplace? They seem OK when playing back off from the view log on the server
Thanks

These would be the cables I would use too. I have tried the splitter cables and they did not work well trying to use a monitor and a projector.

I am working on the same thing. A real cheap and good way to go is use a SMARTVIEW splitter. It takes the video out form the pc sends one output to the monitor and the other to another monitor or projector. You can use regular premade vga cables and they can be purchased real cheap. Premade up to 100'. signal is amplified for use up to 250'. I can pm you with source if you want.

What's a few of our kids or a hundred or so innocent people being blown up on an almost daily basis when there is money to be made.

I sure don't think the 4-6 hrs are off and if anything the hours for interior may be a little light. If you figure the time to test the ptz before you mount it. The time hammerdrilling into concret, which we run into a lot it is pretty easy to use that much time. We used to just trust the camera was working before we mounted it but we had a bad one and we were trouble shooting off from a ladder. Also oftentimes we use a seperate power supply for the ptz (bosch) and that takes some time to setup. If my labor is in error it always seems the project took longer than anticipated not that it was easier.

Ideal has come out with their version of the same thing. Our suplier said the IDEAL branded one would be avaliable Feb 15 but it appears to have a higher price than the unit described.

Up date
The fun continues I finally got my paypal fixed to where I can start using the account and I have to resend a bunch of personal info copy of utility bill etc. Account is in good standing so now I can cancel. The same day I get a call from Dell seems someone has opened an account in my name and has purchased a computer. I have to call dell but the only way I can talk to someone is to give out my SS number. I am thinking I am being setup but take the chance and sure enough I have an account. Now to cancel this I have to get a statement notarized etc. So far I have lost no money just aggraviation. I also put a froud alert on my credit reports.
Well it gives me something to do when the temp outside is -5

if you splice you need to get a good underground splice enclosure. If we need over 500 ft we just figure the cost of a full roll of cable. If we get to use the remainder fine if not well it has been paid for.

I have to agree with all the above respondents. We do a lot of work for a hosiptal and they are adding all types of wireless gadgets almost on a monthly basis. Nurse calls, mobile paging, baby monitors that will alarm if someone trys to take an infant from the peds department etc. We also fine we have many dead spots due to the construction of the building. So you often have to make a lot of difficult wire runs to setup access points.
My main objection is what happens if some other wireless device stops working when "your equipment" is installed. It could get very interesting trying to point to the right problem.

Without it being direct bury any moisture will wick up the braid and you will probably get to bury it again

I looked at the post from 7 Jan in requards to dropped frames. And I will try the reccommended fixes. I have a system using 1480 board 16 cams 1 gig of internal memory and 500 gig storage. The system is in a school and the activity tends to be all the cameras for a few min and then none or very little. I have set max frame rates to 10 and have set pre and post record for a couple of seconds ea. They are still having people dissappear from a clip and then reappear. Also playback is jerky. I am supposed to be getting a clip which hopefully I can post. These systems are running 8.02
THey cameras are being viewed live off from the server using a belkin KVM switch. I have this setup in several places and it does not seem to affect the system as it is just getting video that would normally be fed to a monitor.

i was notified of someone trying to use my account 3 weeks ago and I went through the drill of changing all the security stuff about 4 times and they are still locking me out of the account. The other problem is that I did not have enough money in paypal to pay for the item in question and they made an attempt to add money from my bank account. It did not work but I had to check out everything and cancel my check card
Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems or am I an isolated case?

we are just getting into access control and have gone to using a locksmith to actually installing the door hardward electric strike etc. What we are finding on commercial stuff is you have to be careful as some of the opening devices can be really expensive. On some of the school doors whe have done the door hardware to electrify the latches etc runs 700-800 dollars not to mention the rip off prices for the "manufactures' power supply" but that is how we have to quote stuff as the liability if a device fails could be a major problem.

If you do have an alarm their should be a rj-31x or similar so the alarm can get the line ahead of any other analog device phone fax etc

Another thing we use a lot is a length of plastic conduit usually 1/2 inch it only costs a couple of buck is flexible enough to bounce over junk in the ceiling and when you forget and leave it on the job osr break it trying to fish through something no big deal. nylon string and a lenght of light chain are very usefull too if you have to fish a wall drop the chain down and you will soon know if it is fire stopped or unfishiable.
