I would stick with fiber you ca get outdoor rated with a steel messenger
if they have power at the tower then you can get some fairly cheap converters and you would only have to terminate one fiber but of course it would be wise to terminate a couple of spares also. check prices with any major supplier for multi mode, arieal, outdoor rated, with messenger guessing it is around 1.50 per ft.

another thing that you can do if you have your disks partioned if you are concerned about fragmentation is to run diskeeper i have done that and don't really see any improvement. I have also ( if I don't need the old files) just reformatted the partion and resetup the path. That seems to be the fastest

thanks
I probably knwe the answer before I asked the question.
I will tell my customer to stay away from this supplier. I guess even if the software is overpriced, buggy and the company is making billions it is still stealing.

local computer guy said he could install xp pro sp2 for $67.00 looked all over web seems it must be illegal copy. Anybody paid legit a price this low?

have you set the cmos to require a password? I was not clear from your post if so you will have to clear that. If it is a windows password go to control panel and open the user and passwords folder then ucheck users must enter a password to use this computer

Has anyone used this? It looks like it might be a single camera solution but other than the webpage I know nothing about them.

amen to the 300 problems I too have a bunch of 200 out and had have had only one failure in 3 years out of 60, 300 series have had about 15 outright failures the ez300 outdoor camera seems to be fine but that is a 24vac I agree stay away from the 300 series

Just had another harddrive give die today on a Pc based dvr
when are we going to see the harddrive replaced by something solid state?
some of the voice mail systems we sell are now on a pcmia card I know they need a lot less storage. In cctv heaven all dvrs would be imbedded operating systems and use removal pcmia cards for storage
maybe on geovision ver 22.6? anyone heard about any work on these lines?

I reccommend swithching to a scanconverter out of the computer I have had this same problem with several sites and for 70-80 dollars you just use the scan converter and it eliminates trying to get the tv out on the video cards to work right. I put a couple of low end converters in froM PI MFG and they have worked for 2 years now with no problems. if necessary for very long runs you can use an amp but I have a couple of remote monitors about 350 feet away and they work fine Using rg6 quad cable
-
I might have solved my problem am looking at going to rf modulator and small flat screen TVS they could then call up any cameras they wanted without having to have all those quads
-
I have a potential customer who is building a new home He wants 4 cameras but he wants to view them from 3 different locations I could do this with a monitor with a built in quad and loop to another quad etc. He however wants to use (if possible a built in LCD with a built in quad, does anyone make something like this? If it were only 2 cameras I could use a lcd with two inputs and just switch them
Thanks

I have had trouble using the video out from the PC's video card on a geo setup. Some cards would work ok but somtimes you had to fool with the resloution to keep from getting a pink screen on the video out side. I have gone to scan converter box and it solves the problem. A little extra expense but a whole lot less problems.

anybody used one of these ?
looking at the LDSi400
seems to have decent price/speks but would like any positive feedback or more importantly any bad experiences
thanks

I have a customer who has a fixed camera and would like to convert to a ptz no problem with local power but it is a long underground coax run. Can anyone reccommend a control over coax solution. Have not quoted a specific camera yet and would like to control via geovision if possible
Thanks

I have used Ozvision and it was ok The setup was b/w cameras in an elderly persons home and the daughter could dial in and check on her
the motion was a little choppy but you could see what was going on.
price was not too bad either

Well I am sort of in the middle here I like to think we do quality work and we are fanatics about customer support. I don't want to sell anything that is going to cause callbacks but one cannot always tell from specks etc what you are really going to get. We have also run into situtations where the headend equipment room is very ill suited to house quipment and the job looks crappy trying to jam all the equipment in a limited space.

Cutomer wants a quote and several of the DESA units. Are they good? Any known issues? Will I be paying a lot for the name. Have used another brand before and hate to switch.
-
thanks I have been replacing the failed ones with other brands and will not go back to everfocus
-
I have about 50 everfocus ed300 cameras in a large facility I have had many failures and have a continuing struggle with the camera blueing out.
I read somewhere that going to a 24vac camera would help this problem I have turned on BLC and it seemed to help a great deal.
thanks

Isn't the problem that even if you have a 100 cameras you don't have 100 people watching real time. And does somewone review all the data from all the cameras to find something after the fact
-
If you could send that to me it would be much appreciated. It would be nice to make that sick green go away
thanks

I just installed two vitek day night color cameras with I think 24 leds
