  1. www.digitalvideos.co.uk however users h-264 compression on most kit now. maybe that kit does not meet your spec (i would not be so lazy but im in the middle of coding so cant be arsed to look )
  2. yeah there is , ljd do a range of systems. and yes i know not the best supplier in the world but the realtime kit does produce pretty good results.
  3. oh i agree that the quality is the most important thing. however you can get excellent quality footage with realitime speeds now. (most the trade distrubtors are selling kit to so this for a few months now in uk)
  4. really? i mean all the kit im putting in has been 20 fps per camera minimum!
  5. 7.5 per channel. imho thats poo . realitime fps dvrs are common now. so i kinda expect kit to be able to do 25 fps per channel. (however im a newbie in this undustry so may be being stupid lol)

windows xp, latest packs and updates (yeah yeah i know bad idea but its my office pc lol)
  7. i havea comment to make. what are these cameras actually in an ideal world ment to capture? with the budget u have you may as well put dummys up becuase im thinking the footage will be pretty useless.
  8. this kit is a bit poo on fps and spec imho.
  9. to be honest you just need to keep the network of ip gear in its own "network" enviroment and employ hardware key encryption devices. although to be honest its not hard and this should be in the kit. next generation ? sigh!

yeah rory yours is not green , by green i mean a green tint to the whole video not just green at teh beggining. actually after going to service a dvr today im not impressed by the footage quality at all to be honest, i would say its worse than other strips i have. i will put up some footeage when i get back from my trip from intstalls i have done.
  12. agreed maxtor are cheap to large buyers thus they tend to get used. as i say a million times and others do to. you get what ya pay for. (well most the time if you lucky and the goverment dont sqrew you )

yeah im allways up to look at new products. im trying to decide on a line of dvrs to use (im actually away for a month as of 2mrw lol). im going to go for high def (megapixel) and ip stuff i think as there seems to be a large gap in the market for this. however i still will want to be bale to upgrade and work on your normal analoge systems and need a good dvr for this. u got a contact email for the chappys? (pm if more appropiate)

i must add i do think more now the camera selection and setup plays more important roles in the usefullness of the image in a court or monitoring situation than the dvr (if you go for the more expensive kit).

well i mean ive got a limited experience of dvrs, the ones that www.y3kcctv.com sell ( the pro ones) are acutally quite good although the companys service is bloody awfull. ive got footage that looked that good and not green at 30 fps on a optical zoom numberplate cam (from those muppets again). also www.digitalvideos.co.uk (ljd) (these guys are better and trade only. still muppets sometimes tho lol). the pc based dvrs and the standalone embedded have produced the same sort of quality as well. also easy to use. again i have to say im a rank amatur compared to most of u chappys (although im doing it commercially. let the slapping continue). however the results im getting are good and the first 8 cam install i did has used 3 lots of footege which blew the case out of court lol

it was not so much the price it was the way he quoted.telling the customer the pricing was done on a per cam basis and per dvr not asking the requiments whatsoever of what the customer wanted. just shocked me. and to be honest 3.5k for a simple install 4 cam system for example. yeah to me thats a little expensive.
