Strange behaviour in CCTV

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am using wave-p cards 2 pcs with 4 channels each for a total of 8 CCTVs. For 7 cameras, they are the cheapo CCTVs and they working just fine. The 8th which is a more expensive outdoor model has a strange behavior. It could be fine for random amount of time, sometimes a few days, sometimes a few hours sometime even a few seconds. What will happen is it will start to fizzle and black out like its running out of electricity. It will usually be fixed if i unplug and plug it back in. It will never be fixed if i leave it in. What should i check? the connection at the camera side or the electricity connection?

Thank you for any advise I can get.

I would double check my connections and try a different power supply.

If that didn't help I would move that camera to a different channel to see if the problem followed the camera or stayed with the channel.

Look at the power supply for this camera. When the picture goes black what is the voltage at the power supply what is the voltage at the camera how muck current is the camera pulling.
