has anyone tried to put cctv on an armored vehicle? what camera and dvr can you suggest? what is the safest place we can hide the dvr?

The only real way to "hide" the dvr is in a lock box. The inside of armored vehicles are usually plate steel and sparse as far as cabinets. You also have to consider the heat that will build up. The cables can be put into thin conduit but hiding the DVR is going to be tough.

Is this a full sized armored truck or a military vehicle? You need to put the cameras in corners with wide angle lenses. Usually a board camera in an armored corner housing would work best.

If this is an armored truck for money protection, the back section is usually air conditioned. They have a driver in front sectioned off from the rear. In back they have the pickup man and some times they have a third

person in the rear. Put you DVR in a vault. You can get a good one for around $140 bucks. They have a small camera out that many call Flying Saucers. They are almost flat sitting in a ring about 4 inches across. You would never notice the thing if you paint it the same as the vehicle. The lens opening is just a 32nd of a inch opening. They are color cameras and they work great.

Is this a system to monitor the employees of an armored transport, vice a system to monitor the exterior of the vehicle for employee safety?

 

Or is this for a police/SWAT vehicle to allow the team to monitor the exterior of the vehicle without exposing themselves to incoming fire? There are some commercial systems for the latter application that include FLIR and such. Lenco would be the company I'd approach for that... IIRC they have a system like that in their armored vehicles.

it will be used for recoding the incident in case there was an attempted robbery. is the camera like a disc waterproof?

There's also Servision. They make a pretty nice mobile unit that has a pretty significant impact rating as well.
