Yes,

Turn DHCP on then:

 

On a WinXP computer:

Start

Run

cmd

ipconfig /all >>c:\ipold.txt

 

Then look in c:\ for the ipold.txt file, it will have all the info you are currently have.

 

Carry all the setting over but use a ip that is out of the DHCP range. Then I would disable the DHCP, it is more secure that way.

 

If your DNS is the same private IP as the router ex. 192.168.1.1 I would look in the router config for the external DNS address and use that instead. Otherwise your router is acting as a DNS proxy.

 

Then you can do another ipconfig /all >>c:\ipnew.txt to keep your settings documented.

darn thats alot!

 

i just put in an IP in the range, the internal gateway, and the internal subnet ... DHCP is on by default. but then thats the Stand Alone DVR ..

rory,

 

once you do it a few hundered times it gets easy. the >> part is just to document the settings and makes it easy to diag over the phone.
