DVR with IP base external storage

Recommended Posts

Hi friends

We have an old DVR "Panasonic WJ-RRT416" connected with 16 camera "Panasonic wv.cp280", We want to replace this recorder with a new one to work with the same cameras but we want it to be supported to transfer the streaming data to an IP based external storage, and to have a large internal storage capacity.

Can any one help me with suatible model, Thanks

Several things have to be looked at 1 going from a standalone to a PC based DVR or analog to IP adapters and NVR server software.

1. Will your network support the added traffic you could be adding?

2. How manny frames per second will each camera be recording?

3. What resolution do you plan to set the cameras to?

4. What do you call large storage?

5. Most DVR's we build start at 500 gig and have up to 4 TB of storage?

6. How long do you want to store video?

7. Most DVR's will let you pick where to store video.

8. What is your budget for this project?

9. Do you want to view this remote inhouse/internet?

10. The place that this system is going to be installed how many hours a day is it open and the % of movement during those hours?

These are a good set of questions you need to look at before making your choice on a DVR. When you post these answers several people here can point you to several different DVR's that can do the job you want do.

The AVTech 480 FPS 16 channel DVRs can do duel record. The DVR can record on to 1.5TB of hard drive, and you can set up a computer to remote view, and record the video. You can stack more hard drives for as much recording time as you need.

The remote view computer cannot be a multi tasked computer, unless you break away from the bargain bin cheap entry level computers.

You are limited to any down time of the internet. If the internet goes down on either end then it will not record, and you will only have the local recording to fall back on.

Is your DVR connected to a UPS with good line filtration, and will your remote computer also be connected to a UPS with line filtration?

If you have a higher "threat" level then you may need to install generator backup at both ends, or solar cell / batteries / inverter systems.
