delete cctv footage

Recommended Posts

How do you delete CCTV footage? We borrowed the equipment from a friend, and didn't realise it was recording us. Oops!

Kinda depends on the equipment. Ultimately, you could drive over it with a truck, that would make for a pretty permanent deletion.

I have a cattle prod that does wonders for fixing intermittent problems for warranty items..... As far as your unit, you are going to have to give us something more to go on, model number sticker info, something, before we can help you... And my mind really wanders wondering what you have to delete!

I am sorry but I have to ask a question. You borrowed a digital video recorder and did not think it would record what you were doing? You sure you did not get caught doing something on a dvr and you want to hide it. Not much of a friend that will not remove it for you.

At the back of the unit is a very worn sticker, like a bar code, it looks like it might say 5026686 036640, don't know if that is what we need.

No, we did not expect it to record us - we were told to press record when we wanted it to start recording. We have now learnt that it records everything unless we are viewing a recording. My husband and I became a little over-affectionate, and I am sure you can imagine what happened! We are a rather private couple, not into pornography, and would be so embarrassed if this was seen by anyone else.

Yes, we did get caught doing something we want to hide. My husband and I are a rather private couple and would be so embarrassed if anyone saw us 'playing' together. Yes, I know we should have used the bedroom, but these things can't always be planned, can they! We are too embarassed to tell my friend, just want to delete it andforget it ever happened.

I have found an old sticker on the back of the unit, looks like a bar code. Looks like it says something like 5026686036640. Might that be what we need?

The real question here is the DVR a PC based System or Stand Alone?? If it is a Stand Alone and you can get into the menu, there should be a hard drive management "tab" or HDD tab. Under that you should be able to format the hard drive.

Now if it is a PC Based System then you DO NOT want to do that as you will delete the operating system of course.

Do you have admin access to the system?? If not then you are out of luck. The only option would be to replace the drive and dispose of the naughty drive.

Those darn CCTV cameras!!!!!!

Not really

Video data reside on its own folders and/or partions

unless u mean security software its self

You are still gonna have to contact the owner of the DVR to get the password then if we know more then maybe we can give more help. But until that happens you are stuck with knowing that you are on the dvr and not much can be done with out the owners help. These things are designed for security reasons to be secure.
