SONY IP Cameras and IR light

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I want to Know if a NON day-night camera like SONY SNC-CS3 is able to catch IR light or not. I have a set of IR lamps installed and I'd like to use them, but I'm instaling SNC-CS3 cameras, that is always COLOR mode with 0,5 lux sensibility, but it hasn't day-night mode like SNC-Z20.

Would it be any difference if i turn my IR lamps on at night? or I look for the next recicle bin to drop my IR lamps??

Thanks in advance.

Rds.

If you take a lens of a camera, look at the CCD and it is Green, then it will not handle IR light, that is what is known as a IR filter, it blocks IR light ranges that cameras can detect, otherwise it would overshot (go very bright) during the day, some really good cameras actually remove this filter mechanically to alow this to happen at nightime, sot hat the filter is completely removed..these are True Day Night cameras, the others simply suck the chrominance out of the picture.

Be carefull as most lenses are also IR treated these days, and you need a lens that can bounce the spectrum in the right way so you should use IR corrected lenses.
