Advice needed on buying a PCI DVR card

Recommended Posts

This what I am dealing with. I have 4 analog video cameras with audio that are in a special chamber monitored constantly on the outside buy someone watching a monitor. The cameras are extremely expensive because they are in a high electromagnetic envirionment and need special shielding to survive and operate and are high end in resolution.Currently they are connected to 4 analog monitors and I would like to get rid of the monitors and go PC based. I need recomendations on the best card for VGA displaying using the analog cameras I have. Im not worried about IP the cameras or as much about the DVR feature but more about real time displaying of the cameras. The DVR might be used but usually only in a one channel method to record specific incidents on demand not in a continuous recording setup. I need to be able to quad, bi, or single the display on the PC and get as high a resolution as possible on the VGA. Recomendation please. I have gone through so many post and through so many articles and it sounds like the only real expertise I have found in the subject is here. Thanks.

for a high end card you will need to look at something more than 4 channel to get you into good fps and quality. so you might be better buying a small dvr. with your cameras being so high. look for D1 recording with 25fps. this little unit will connect upto your existing monitors and allow you to connect a vga monitor also. full mouse control

Thats a great unit. I wanted to go PC based to try and simplify the setup. I currently have 3 different Pc's on the console. 1 for data acquisition, 1 for diagnotics and fiber optical link, and one for chamber monitoring and equipment control. I would like to piggyback the cameras onto one of the computers on the station if I could get the performance out of a PC based card to run it. Do you have any PC card recommendations?

you also get the cms 3000 software with the unit. so if you can network it you will have full control from any pc.
