Looking for best DVR PC based card and software

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to find the best windows based DVR for the money, I don't really need anything too expensive. I'm wanting to record events around the house. I feed the deer at night and would like to record them in action.

also would like to record any movement in my backyard.

Thank You,

Tim Heitz

Just a newbie with a hobby needing a little help.

Depending on how many cameras you need you can choose between ProVideo PV149P for up to 4 cameras and ComArt HiCap50 if you need more. As for software I always recomend LuxRiot ( http://www.luxriot.com ) since my company is distributing it.

Does the luxriot support capture cards with standard BNC/RCA connectors? I downloaded the demo but it seems it could only add IP based cameras?

Any other DVR software you recommend?

The list of currently supported video capture boards you can find here http://www.luxriot.com/videocaptureboards.html Besides IP cameras and listed boards LuxRiot supports all DirectShow compatible video capture boards and devices.

There are many video capture boards with proprietary drivers and DVR software. For the board based on the Conexant Bt878 or Bt848 chip you can try to load a generic driver from here http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/download.html or http://ivus.tele-kom.ru/

What board are you trying to run LuxRiot with? For a popular proprietary board, I believe, it is possible to place a request for LuxRiot development team to add support for this board.

Do a search for the Hicap50 and you should find a US distributor

HEY! What about Geo? Why comart? Their software sucks.

I know, but you dont have to use heir software, in fact some excellent people in this forum..wont name names..have used their development kits to develop better sofware... the first post was also looking for a cheap solution and Comart is cheap.

we should name names, that should be another forum, developer software.

I still want to make that demo site, which lists demo or software for each/every DVR/Web Server out there, and people can add more/others that are not listed, public IPs can be displayed to all, private to members only. ETC,,,,when im done with the current site Im working on (still...), ill look at that, and another script I said I would work on to do with CCTV.

Great support. System works great, no crashes, stable, and simple. If you can put a NIC card in, you can set this card up no sweat. I've got the DVR 240 and it works great. I also suggest NERO to support your CD editing and burning habits. Combine the 2 and you have one heck of a package for a moderate cost.

bit suss though, the live image the same as recorded and no distortion, that loks cut and paste of pictures to me mate... aslo their zoom in from satelite type map connection is bogus, no matter where you click it is going to take you to same place, after all its just a html link to some JPEGS before logging in.... Looks like some clever manipulation but why cheat when softwrae actully is pretty good

The pictures are cut and paste, but they are cut and paste from actual clips. Why they did that is beyond me but I can verifiy that I recoginze all but three of the cameras they are showing. The live demo is an actual live demo of our office.

Not sure what you mean by the satelite type map?
